I thought I could do the rest myself, but I realized my limitations and looked for a contractor to grade the planting areas, fix a grassy area that was a mess due to tree roots, fix the irrigation including a whole new drip and replacing the sprinkler zone. In addition, we needed a concrete walkway and some stepping stones. Kam from Art of the Earth (AOTE) came to provide a quote and it was clear he had both a deep understanding of plants and a sense of how to use them within a landscape to create art. He focused on year round color and explained how that would be achieved. We agreed from the beginning that the look I wanted to achieve was as natural as possible without straight lines. The project manager, Tyler, the foreman, Jose and Hernon worked with focus on achieving the vision. I could tell this by the way they would stop, standback and assess the progress. We communicated routinely, and they all listened to our thoughts attentively. There were some additions and subtractions from the initial quote and the price impact was agreed upon promptly and fairly. They cleaned up at the end of every day's work which my wife was particularly happy with. Communication was great throughout, and there were no surprises except they surprised me with ways to surpass my expectations with their focus on achieving our goals. Kody planned to meet me on a Saturday, but was able to move it up to a Friday afternoon. Knowing it took a while to even get on their calendar, I kiddingly said. "Preferably in 2023" (Note: I had a horrible experience with my contractor on time-lines, so knowing how busy the summers were I wasn't optimistic.) But I was stunned, thrilled and excited when Kody said; "How about we start on Monday?" I know this may not have been the norm, however, since they did have a crew working on another project in the vacinity, it was easy for the amazing Tyler to come and work on my project. Unfortunately, ProVision was the company chosen by our builder to install the landscaping and…read moreirrigation at our home. To say their work is sub-par is an understatement, and giving them zero stars isn't an option. Plants were planted in areas that weren't appropriate for the plant (e.g. putting a hydrangea by a tree - both take a lot of water) causing them to die. Even when they did warranty work and one of their "supervisors" indicated the plant should have never been planted there, they still didn't fix the problem. As for the sprinklers, they seem to have used as few as they could possibly get away with, resulting in consistently large, brown patches. Even after telling them for months about the issues, they refused to rectify the problems, instead using excuses about the soil, the slope of the drainage (which they created), lack of watering, too much watering, etc. It's apparent I'm going to have to replace the existing sprinklers with more powerful ones and add new ones in order to accommodate the needs of my yard. When our warranty period ended, they didn't hand us off to their maintenance department, as promised, so we didn't have the opportunity to get an agreement in place for them to maintain our yard. Communication with their administrative staff was very terse, and not friendly. I suppose when you're dealing with multiple new construction jobs, warranties, and other landscaping jobs, it's easier to brush off customers than actually engage with them. At the end of the day, I don't recommend them and given there are hundreds of other options here in the valley, surely there's a company willing to provide stellar customer service and quality installation and products.
