The outside of the Clay Place is a beautiful garden with old trees that provide the perfect backdrop to the pottery pieces displayed outside. Inside you will find even more whimsical pieces to explore. The Clay Place has three buildings, a studio, a kiln room, and a gallery. The artist in residence is Jim Rice who I had the pleasure of meeting during my visit. Jim was born in Kent Ohio. In 1973 he moved to Naples where he opened his first studio. In 1980, he moved to his current location on Shadowlawn Drive. Jim creates environmental ceramic pieces that include fireplace tiles, wall murals, pool tiles, animals, planters, serving dishes, bowls, and house numbers. Colors used in the pottery are reflective of the nearby Gulf of Mexico. To quote Jim "Plattery will get you everywhere!" You can find his pottery decorating the The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. Pottery ranges from a few dollars to the hundreds. The microwave bacon crisper ($35) would make a great hostess or shower gift as would the ($30) microwave egg poacher. While I was there someone was consulting Jim on their purchase of house numbers. This is a really unique and cool place to look around. You are sure to find something that you fall in love with.

Very cool pottery pieces. Lots of dish ware that are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. Will do…read morecustom pieces as well. I liked the house numbers and the serving platters that also serve as wall art when not in use.

If it weren't for PetSmart being right next door, I'd likely walk home instead of stopping at…read moreMichael's with the fiance when we're nearby. Thanks to the ingenious location I can sit outside and play with the anxious pups. They always jump out of their owner's car so happy when they realize they're going on a fun adventure and not the vet. Not sure if the owner's like it or not, but I'm going to play with your pooch despite being allergic. Michael's, on the other hand, not really for me. Granted, half of my Sanctuary is decorated with their goods, but I'm totally okay with letting my fiance take care of that. You know what they say, "Happy wife, happy life." Fun fact, whoever first said that had a wife who looooved Michael's. The one time I did venture inside I got lost in some sort of pirate themed section for at least 30 minutes. Pretty cool stuff. Lory got some kind of faux flowers to toss in a wicker vase or whatever. Eventually I wandered outside and played with Bryndal the golden retriever while she waited in line. I guess this review is more of a PSA for dog lovers who have to occupy themselves to keep sanity while their significant others have their fun. Bit of advice, stuff your pockets with dog treats and you'll have the dog owner's wondering why their pets like you more. Michael's, you serve your purpose and for that alone, 3 stars. +1 because my bathroom smells like potpourri all the time. EDIT: Fiance read this and is forcing me to change it to 5 stars. Whatever. Worth it.

In preparation for my family's first Mother's Day in Florida (my parents relocated this January) my sisters and I decided we would put our gift together there, instead of trying to travel with it. When it comes to crafty gifts and creations, Michaels is my go-to spot. We decided to get a photo enlarged and printed and had to find a frame that would perfectly match my mom's decor. After some serious searching through the inventory of items available for in-store pickup at this Michaels location, we found the one. Imagine my surprise when (while still physically in Philly) I get an email that my online order had been picked up! This was a bit alarming, as I had already paid for the item and I was not sure if there was another in the specific size and color that we needed in stock. I decided to chat online with the support team to get some answers. They instructed me to call the store directly, so that's what I did. When they answered the phone, I shared what had happened but did not share my personal information or order number yet. Immediately, I was met with a "that was a mistake, your order is still here". I asked how they knew that for sure, and how they knew which order was mine. Apparently they have caller ID. Fast forward a few days, my sisters and I arrive to pick up our frame. They can't find it. I'm sure it does not help that the order was marked as picked up so it's likely closed out in their system. It took about 10-15 minutes and the help of another staff member to locate my item. Overall, this was not the experience I expected and it was strangely off putting. I did get the item I paid for and that is what really matters. However, I think that I would have trust issues with online orders from this location in the future.
