I thought everyone in the office was professional and caring from start to finish. It cost me $7,780. Dr. Gira explained the procedure and the upcoming timeline (should I choose to have the procedure) very well, answering several technical questions with concise and accurate answers. I've been told by several doctors in the past that LASIK is out of the question for my extra-sensitive eyes with thin corneas and larger-than-normal pupils. I was comfortable enough to let Dr. Gira operate on my eyes, and the outcome was outstanding. I was scheduled to arrive at 6:30 AM. My surgery was at 7:30 AM and first follow up appointment was at 1:30 PM the same day. At 1:30 PM, my eyes were a little swollen, but I could see 20/15 out of both eyes! I had no eye pain during or after the surgery. A week following the surgery, during my final follow up, the doctor attempted to further correct my visual acuity using the phoropter (big thing that goes in front of your face with lots of switchable lenses), but could not do so because it was essentially perfect. Dare I say my visual acuity is now better than I can ever remember or could have imagined. I had to put drops in my eyes (three times per day) for 4 weeks following surgery, which stung a bit for a very short time, but it's 100% worth it to be able to see so well. The outcome was so impressive, I recommended my brother have his eyes examined and fixed by Dr. Gira as well.

In all seriousness, I am still quite shocked when I woke up this morning and I opened my eyes and they just worked. I didn't have to fumble around on my night stand trying to find my glasses. However, I did encounter an issue and I do not believe that it was handled professionally or in a way that I felt heard at all. The procedure changed the way my eye color looks. I had green eyes, and now they look more like stainless steel/gray/mirror-like and it's been a very difficult adjustment. When I called to report this after my procedure, they expected me to wait 6 weeks but when I demanded to be seen sooner, my only option was a 5:45 am appointment. I took that appointment and saw Dr. Brinton and felt very dismissed. I was told it was my perception, asked if I had previously worn colored contacts in the pictures that showed my green eyes, was told I could look into tattooing of my iris (no thank you) and I could now wear colored contacts. I had the surgery because contacts bothered my eyes so that wasn't an option. I decided to give it a year in hopes that maybe the green would come through with time but it hasn't. never once in that first year did anyone from his office contact me to check in about the issue. at my one year appt. I saw Dr. Molly. I once again tried to explain how diffucult its been to lose that part of your identity. to her credit, she listened and seemed to care. I asked her to speak with Dr. Brinton and share the update and to get back to me about any solutions to rectify the situation. I asked for a time frame and she said to give her a week or two. however, I never heard back. again, I am grateful for my vision and I did get that from the procedure, but what was taken was a part of me that had been mine for 56 years, and that is a loss that's been hard. more so than that, I was completely dismissed. I was told by Dr. Brinton that green isn't even a real eye color as it falls under the category of hazel. while that may be true medically, my drivers license says green, my family knew me with green eyes and when I look in the mirror, I no longer have green eyes. therefore, my review is mixed. honestly, if I was given even an ounce of compassion by dr. Brinton, I wouldn't even be writing this. and I'm sure there will be some kind of rebuttal to minimize my words by Brinton Vision, but I know and so do the interns that I was treated poorly in regards to my issue. it should be in the informed consent that your eye color can look different after surgery. had I known, I would have no reason to complain. proceed with caution is my advice. it was my experience that quantity is more important than quality. and my example for that is that they were able to scheduled my surgery mere days after my first appointment, but when I requested to see the doctor after my issues arose, they had no issue trying to push my appointment out over a month.

I recommend scheduling less patients instead of trying to see an exorbitant amount of people to pad their pockets.
