Great place for some good drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Even though I was visiting Dublin, I was really craving some Thai food. I saw the good reviews for Koh on Yelp, so I decided to visit for some drinks, and dinner. The restaurant was busy when I arrived, so my friend and I had to sit in the bar area. There are smaller tables, and chairs, but it was still pretty comfortable. To start my evening, I got the Hugo drink. It's made with prosecco, and St. Germain. It was really tasty and refreshing. My friend got the Old Fashioned No.2 and really liked it as well. For a meal I got the Chicken Pad Thai. It was very delicious, and filled me right up. One of the better Pad Thai's I've had. My friend got the Chicken Chilli & Holy Basil and really enjoyed it. It was very spicy, and just how she likes it. Koh was one of the better restaurants I visited in Dublin. Seriously, I landed in Dublin super tired and starved. I like spicy flavorful food which I know isn't the description for Irish food. I was actually told about this place before I landed and I was SUPER HAPPY that it was coincidentally a few blocks from where I was staying. The place is quite larger than it looks from the outside. It was a Thursday night, so not too busy. It has a lounge feel to it when you first enter, in the rear is the more traditional restaurant style setup. Oh dear... I really dislike dropping stars but... Service. The past few times that I have gone there it has been lacking. I don't like to be made feel that the staff are cooler than me and I am taking them away from something much more important. Nobody is cooler than anybody in my book. I respect your role as server/host to my experience and I genuinely appreciate the hard work that you do, because it is a tough gig. But in return I expect you to respect me as your guest that is willing to pay for the time and food. It should make no blind bit of difference if I am not dressed in fine threads or if I appear to not be perspiring bullions of gold. All you need to know is that I will pay the bill and will relay a positive or negative experience to friends. But lately I pay the bill begrudgingly. To me although food is very important, and you do do great food, even if the fare is mainstream it is compensated by service that is genuine and engaging. Again that's me. I think Koh is one of the best delivery options in Dublin city at the moment. The food is really gorgeous and they are the only Thai delivery I have found in Dublin that does genuine vegetarian curry (all the others use fish sauce in all curries). I spoke to a staff member at Koh who explained that their Yellow Curry is totally vegetarian as they had received lots of requests for a curry without fish sauce. I'm literally obsessed with it, it's so good! You can even buy tubs of the sauce itself for 4euro and then throw in your own veg/tofu or whatever you like, if you are that way inclined! :) I've come here for dinner maybe twice and although the food is nice it's not somewhere I normally think to go to. I took my wife here for her birthday dinner and it exceeded both our expectations! The food and service were excellent!! I had the spicey beef dish with mixed vegetables and rice and she had the chicken pad thai. Both dishes had tons of flavor and the chicken and beef were cooked just right both very tender. They brought out this amazing surprise birthday dessert for my wife for her birthday and our waiter sang a great happy birthday to us. They specialise in cocktails and have a massive variety to suit everyone's taste buds if you like whiskey try the 'Bogwarrior' but if you have more of a sweet tooth the 'Pomegranate Smash' is delicious!! I expected big things from KOH, my sister had bigged it up for me and as a fan of asian cuisine I expected big things. My expectations were high, and it was my birthday so that only added to the build up in my head. The place was really nice, well laid out, the staff were friendly and I got great presents. So I went ahead and ordered the meatballs to start, which were really nice but they were four of the most minuscule meatballs I had ever seen. I had a thai green curry for my main and lo and behold it was only alright. Nothing to write home about. This restaurant is amazing and the cuisine is really great and taste exactly like my mom's. Incredible! I usually go there when I get homesick and I am never disappointed. As a true thai girl, I can say that the food there is really authentic. The atmosphere is fancy and cosy, everything I love. The cocktail bar is great! It really had been a tough day, so berry-infused bubbles were on the agenda for me, and my friend was taken by many of the offerings but eventually settled for the strawberry-muddled Bobby De Niro. Ladies of Dublin please note: Monday night half price cocktails. You owe it to yourselves to be there. By the time we made it to our table my bad mood was forgotten and life was beautiful again. The green monkfish curry - a little spicy and a lot divine - was succently beautiful and tasted amazingly healthy. Bookings are recommended here as this place is really popular, but the bar is pleasant (and tasty) so if you have the time, I recommend you take your time. My friend and I are not high rollers yet (yet being the operative word) so our wine choices are, out of necessity, conservative. We have a tradition of choosing the second cheapest wine on the menu - cheap, but not nasty. We've found this formula to be quite successful in the past. This time it was definitely a winner - a crisp, South African white that complemented our meals brilliantly. When we emerged from the magic of Koh, refreshed and replenished and ready to take on the world, we were slightly surprised to find ourselves in the centre of Dublin once more. Very trendy restaurant, good service, and yummy food! I ordered the singapore noodles and requested rice noodles instead of the egg noodles, simply because of preference. It said it was mildly spicy, which I was worried about because I've been to restaurants that have a very different idea of what mild is, but they weren't bad at all! Very mellow, with only a hint of spice. My boyfriend ordered the pad thai with tofu which he enjoyed. Wish there were less filler veggies though and more noodles/tofu! I had just arrived in the door, a bit late but I was greeted warmly with a touch on the arm. I had to wait for my errant friend so felt like billy no mates but the room was dark so I didn't stand out. We were led to a lovely private table in the restaurant so were able to sit back and relax. I always order the same while I'm here which is Phad Thai and it never fails to impress me and leave me filled for the day. The toilets are a bit of a puzzle to me, I'm not sure if they are trendy or a pain with being a row of individual cubicles. This place definitely has more of a trendy cocktail bar feel than a restaurant vibe. It's very dimly lit and I found it loud inside, but then again, we were seated close to the bathrooms, kitchen entrance, a Christmas tree and right beside what appeared to be large group booked in for an office Christmas party. I'd say it was more than "bustling" and bordering on "boisterous". When we were seated, we were told we should order our drinks right away, as the bar was extremely backed up, so we started with two cocktails. After taking our time to peruse the menus, we placed our order and the food eventually arrived at the table looking delicious. Just one problem - still no sight of our drinks. Now this was probably a good 15-20 minutes in. They weren't joking about the bar being backed up! We eventually got them, and they were delicious, so I won't harp on too much about that. It was a Friday night without a reservation during Christmas season after all. For food, we ordered the Red Duck Curry with Lychee and Aubergines and the Phad Kee Seafood with Rice Noodles. They were both really good, but I thought just a tad overpriced being close to €20 each. It wouldn't deter me from coming back though, seeing as the food quality was good at the end of the day. The cocktail we finished with for dessert was particularly worth a mention. We had the Fearless from the dessert cocktail list - highly recommended. I love how bartenders in Dublin are taking peaty whiskey and using it in cocktails to add a smoky depth to what would otherwise be just another syrupy concoction (yawn)! This place is okay. I think I'd rather drink here than eat here. It's Similar to my other experiences with eating oriental food in Dublin. Authenticity? Not so sure. Price? Expensive. Atmosphere and decor? Fine. I came with a large group that ordered appetizers for all to share so I'm not exactly sure what is what. Out of the ones that were ordered, the egg rolls were the only vegetarian ones and also can be skipped. Their okay, save your money for something else. The chicken skewer/kabobs (satay?) were also okay. Skip them unless you have an insatiable craving for them. The one appetizer I actually liked was one that had a coin of meat on a larger coin of sticky rice. The meat had good flavor and a little bit of kick in it and it felt good to eat it with some of the sticky rice, not all. Don't waste stomach space on sticky rice! My entree was laksa which was very different from laksa I've had in Singapore and Malaysia. This laksa had thicker noodles and much more peanut sauce, so it must be the Thai interpretation of laksa. It was still good, but not the spicy noodle soup kind of dish I was expecting. The pad Thai was DELICIOUS. If you come, you must order pad Thai. My husband and I always try pad Thai when we go to Thai restaurants and this was one of the better pad Thais that we have had. We also tried one of their drinks, an award winning watermelon one, and we didn't like it at all. It tasted bad. Real bad. Aside from the pad Thai, the other great part of dinner was the shrimp crackers that I think are included in your meal. I've eaten here twice in the last few weeks with a fairly fussy American friend and surprisingly he was quite happy with the place. You know how Americans can be hard to please and that "you can never get a proper cocktail in Dublin" Anyway he really enjoyed his cocktail much to my amazement and didn't have anything to complain about. Excellent excellent cocktails---expect a full bar menu with the full assortment of Caipirinhas (yes they use cachaca), mojitos, and countless fruity creations. Service was great---the waitress even came by to update me on the score of the Ghana - Uruguay match! Agree with Justin M that the Duck Laab is fantastic, though it's very spicy! I also had the Prawn Lemongrass which was also well prepared. My friend's Beef Ginger was just average and a bit of a let down. I had heard that Koh has a reputation of being a haunt of single ladies---and in that regard it did not disappoint. The crowd was indeed 70 percent female, and no they were not playing Beyonce's put a ring on it in the background. We both had the pad thai which was pretty awesome. it's not a dish that tends to be too flavourful, but they really went for it and I loved the satay-lime flavour. yum yum. You may have noticed that I love food. I also love cooking, so I get a particular thrill out of eating something that I would not normally be able to replicate. Thus, eating Thai is always exciting. But its even better when the food itself is more than just exotic; when it is perfectly delicious, happiness abounds. The starters we had were divine; Chicken Satay: So good we ordered two helpings Vietnamese Rolls: Three, so we had to split them. Exotic, but a little forgettable. Fresh nevertheless. Betel Leaves: A last minute on-the-spot choice, that was an incredible surprise. Explosions in my mouth! Peking duck: A hardy favourite, you can't go wrong with the duck rolls. Gyoza (I think): I can't remember these. Too many wonderful other things. Main course: Green Thai Curry: A perfectly balance dish that was quicklypolished off. Tiger Cry (a special): I avoided the sauce due to spiciness, but the beef was delectable and succulent. Chicken Cashew Nut: One for someone who is not feeling brave. Delicious and simple. Pad Thai Prawn: Not a huge fan of pad thai noodles as it turns out. But it was a yummy meal nevertheless. Sweet and Sour Duck: I don't like sweet and sour, but this was yummy. Neither too sweet nor sour. Divine. Dessert Dark chocolate and cashew nut brownie: Definitely one to share due to richness Sorbet: What a rare treat Toblerone dessert in a glass: A cocktail that is a dessert?! Heavenly... We didn't need extra rice, and there was the perfect amount of food for all five of us. It is useful to note that KOH has a nice cocktail bar section to it, so you can actually do a whole evening there. Koh = Disappointing I had heard great things about Koh and had been waiting for several months for the opportunity to dine there. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience. We ordered cocktails in hopes of starting our meal on the right foot. Well, for almost 10 euro per drink, I was expecting to taste the alcohol (even just a little) but my drink just tasted like orange juice with way too much ice. It was supposed to be the Chilli-Mango Caipiroska. My husband ordered the Pink G&T and it tasted like cucumber to me and again had too much ice. We split the Vietnamese Beef Balls for our starter and my husband's first bite was cold. Yes, the meatballs were cooked all the way through so they must have been sitting around for a while. It's not ok to bring customers cold food. For the main, I had the Chilli & Holy Basil. It says in the menu that this is a hot dish (3 peppers!) and it definitely was. I often order the hottest thing on the menu because, let's face it, most food in Dublin is not spicy. I was pleasantly surprised to have my mouth tingling for a good 10 minutes after I finished eating. My husband had the Green Chicken Thai Curry. It was nothing spectacular but he ate all of it. When the host (no, not our waiter) was clearing our dishes, he asked if we wanted the dessert menu. I said we would and we waited for it. We waited for 15 minutes before giving up and signaling for our check. Let's just say the service was sub-par. Our waiter took our order and then never spoke to us again. Not even to bring us the jug of water we ordered. The only one who actually talked to us was the host. I won't be going back, not even for the 2-for-1 cocktail special on Mondays. I was impressed mostly with the ambiance of the restaurant. I came here for my anniversary dinner with hubby and it was enjoyable enough but nothing incredible. The lounge area in the front was laid-back and relaxed while the restaurant in the back had rich colors and detailed lattices. If I had a group of 6 or more I'd definitely bring them just to sit in one of the plush red rooms behind the carved wood. As for food, we had a trio of gyoza that were really good and a chocolate wonton dessert that was nice and not heavy. Our main dishes of noodles were sort of lifeless and generic. I don't really see how KOH has won a bajillion awards but it was decent (albeit overpriced) and the surroundings were beautiful. Surprisingly mediocre. I've only ordered online from Koh before and this was my first time in the restaurant and I was quite surprised that it didn't live up to the hype. The service is great and they have a lot of good beer. The restaurant is a bit too dark which could be rectified. Coming to the food, the starters are deadly -- especially the Chicken Satay. The disappointment began for me with the main course. I had the Phad Thai and my friend had the Singapore Noodles and they were not as good as we remember having them home delivered. Really nice menu with a good selection of Thai dishes and starters. It was hard for me to decide whether it was going to be Pad Thai or Green Curry, but I chose the Pad Thai, which was delish. So no regrets. We were also a large-ish group so we had one of the cool alcoves. Went there on a cold, rainy Monday night primarily b/c my Yelp app told us that it was within walking distance of our flat and we were craving Asian food. When we got there, the place was almost deserted--our table was one of only five with customers in the entire place--and the place is big! That had me a bit worried, but once our food arrived, my worries were put to rest. The Tom Kha Gai I had to start the meal was some of the best I've ever had--rich and creamy but chock full of fresh, flavorful ingredients. Next up, I had the chopped chicken & lime from the "Wok Fired" section of the menu. Again, very flavorful and quite a lot of food--I didn't come close to finishing it. My companion had the Peking duck starter as her main, and the duck was so damn good it made my eyes roll into the back of my head. Wow. Her starter--the Three Gyoza--looked really good, but I didn't try it so can't report on the flavor first hand. She did, however, finish them all and said they were delicious. Despite the mostly empty restaurant, our server was a bit sluggish. Other than that, this was a really good meal and a nice overall experience. I had dinner in Koh last night. Firstly the service was excellent but the place was quiet. For starter we had Meat Sung which is one of my favourite dishes. It was completely tasteless and really had no flavour. I make better at home myself. I had a beef noodle broth for main course which was very tasty. I love the decor and ambience in Koh and they have very nice cocktails so In think I would still go back but would avoid the meat sung. read more

Koh is the favourite haunt of most of Dublin's food critics. The reason? The best Asian Fusion food in the city in the coolest urban atmosphere this side of Sex and the City. We enjoyed a three-course Pre-Theatre menu for €20. For starters I enjoyed the Imperial Crispy Roll consisting of Pastry wrapped pork and prawn spring roll with zesty sweet chilli sauce. For mains I tucked into Chicken cashew nuts curry with dry chilli, mixed vegetables, and steamed thai fragrant rice that I love! Nothing has changed much from the first time I was here. Went back and had pretty much the same (good) experience. Also, on similar circumstances, we were attending as a big party. Everything was nicely organized; taking orders and serving went smoothly (it should be part of every restaurant, however we know how some restaurants fumble having even three people in a table) A lot of places in town charge more for an inferior experience, hence justifying my score update for this place. read more

Went for dinner and a cocktail making class in Koh last night. Excellent idea for a hen party. We were given our own private area. Staff were friendly and couldn't have done enough to keep us happy. I ordered the Singapore noodles and they were really good. The portions were very generous too. We were given a crash course in cocktail making where we were behind the bar. We had a choice of two cocktails each. Overall was a great night out! read more

I've been to Koh 3 times and always loved their Thai food. The restaurant has a nice, romantic atmosphere, so the place itself is worthy of taking your date. They have a good selection of wines and the menu choices are abundant and original. If you are looking for the best Thai food in Dublin, I believe this is the place. Of course this is taking into consideration the alternatives available in Dublin. So plenty of pro's and just one con, the restaurant is situated in a not so nice area of Dublin, which would be a no-go for me if I were to go on a date. That why it's missing a star. read more
