Capitol opens late seven nights a week it's free. There's loads of lovely cocktails and they are just €5 before midnight everyday. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays all cocktails are €5 all night... Good music too and they're two good reasons to vist!

Only found out this place recently and I really liked. Their cocktail menu is pretty extensive and the drinks are very good - and not expensive! Any drink costs €5 and during the week they charge €6 for two cocktails. Just amazing I loved their strawberry daiquiri. The place itself is really cool. Nice music, nice atmosphere, cheap drinks... I'll definitely go back soon

I was in Capitol the other night for the first time in a good while. They no longer have €5 cocktails every night; they have €5 cocktails all night Monday and Tuesday, and for the rest of the week cocktails are the normal (expensive) prices. They do have a €5 cocktail menu, although most of the cocktails on it are made of Mickey Finns and don't seem that nice or alcoholic. The music in Capitol is very strange. Most of the songs they played the other night were exactly a year old for some reason - Katy Perry, Kid Rock, all that lark. It was like listening to a Summer Hits 2008 cd. And if you're not on the cheap cocktails, the price of drink is extortionate: the Guinness is €4.90 (which is reasonable) but most lagers are €5.70 (shocking). Still, Capitol is a bit of a laugh and worth a visit.

I've only ever been to Capitol (Monday and Tuesday nights) on cheap cocktail night where drinks cost a fiver. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother with this lounge. I'll start with the good. Capitol, in my opinion, does great cocktails. They have pages and pages of different fancy drinks to choose from. My personal favourites are the Margaritas (strawberry) and the champagne cocktails (the Marilyn Monroe). This place can be a good spot to have a girl's night. If you close your eyes and pretend real hard, you can pretend you're on Sex and the City. Now for the bad... The people who come here are not my crowd, meaning that they are into the Scene. I felt like the other customers worried too much about who they were with and what they were wearing. Too superficial for my liking.

Yes the cocktails are cheap at €5 but you get what you pay for so if it's high quality cocktails you're after, this wouldn't be top of my list I'm afraid. Then again, if you don't care about that and are out on the razz with your friends, then it's not a bad spot.

The selection of cocktails they offer is quite extensive and at €5 each you really can't complain. Capitol is a great place to meet friends after work for a cocktail (or 10) and a catch up. I would like there to be a bit more seating or tables to leave your drink down, if you dont get a seat and a table then you are left standing holding your drink which isn't ideal especially if you avail of the two cocktails for 10euro. They have the space to add in some additional tables. It's a good spot in a handy location if you work in the city.

A lively spot at the weekend, the €5 cocktail offer here attracts a mixed crowd. Nice central location to kick off a night out!

Nice cocktail menu and venue. It's a shame the staff here were so unfriendly that it ruined our experience. Don't recommend.

A group of us wandered down the dark alley one Sunday afternoon, a little anxious about what we might discover... Pleasantly surprised to find ourselves inside a Sleeping Beauty-like cavern of candlelit wonder, we stopped to marvel over the interior before giving the solitary bar man his rush of the century. The place was empty before we arrived, but luckily we'd brought a large enough group to make the entire place our own. The candelabras, mood lighting and high, domed ceilings make this place enchantingly atmospheric, but let's not forget the practicalities. Recipe for a good night with a large group: large tables - check, cheap beer (3.40 a pint!!!) - check, pool table - check... Ok this place is a winner. Me and 1 of my friends decided to order some cocktails so we went to the bar to see what we could get I ordered a mojito and a White Russian for my friend. I should have known it would be a disaster when the female bartender had to as the waitress how to make it needless to say it was not very good. After a while my friend decided to get one more round before we left. Well to say we were shocked is an understatement. When the waitress came over she went to order a drink to which the response was cant you see I'm busy what's wrong with you going to the bar, as she turned and walked away and went back to the bar to chat with another member of staff. The girl that had been looking after us earlier I think had finished which was a shame. Needless to say we didn't stay for another drink. This would put me off going back I could understand if it was busy but service like this is not acceptable

The Wind Jammer is not, however, one of the really fun early houses. For fun early houses that serve already somewhat inebriated people, try The Chancery. The Wind Jammer is the type of early house that caters to shift workers and Gardaí from Pearse St coming off the night shift. Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers. The door is closed most early mornings, and they have a CCTV camera to give ya a good hard scrutinising before they'll let you in. The only time I was there for early pints, there was only one other group of young lads there and the barman looked like he was about to stop serving them. During the rest of the day and night, the Wind Jammer is a quiet pub frequented mainly by old, grumpy locals, who would sooner bite your head off than ask you the time of day. If you're really desperate for a drink and can't make it til half ten when the rest of the pubs open, by all means go to The Wind Jammer. Otherwise, there isn't that much else to recommend to it. Oh, one other thing. The Wind Jammer is the closest pub to Windmll Lane Studios, so U2 and The Saw Doctors among others have retired there for post-recording session pints over the years. Not the type of thing that would interest me, but sure it might interest you so I thought that I'd tack it on the end there
