If you're trying to shop in the womens department, I hope you like scavenger hunts because that's what it felt like on the day I went in. Many of the items were misplaced within racks of the same brand but different sales prices, so trying to figure out what something cost was frustrating. read more

This review is about a particular employee and my experience with an online purchase return. I ordered drapes online, received timely but didn't like them once opened. I dreaded the the task of taking them back just knowing the nightmare awaiting me. I mustered up enough energy yesterday to go to the store. The drapes were in two large, awkward, somewhat heavy boxes. I went into the store to look for a shopping cart, of course they didn't have any. This manager looking gentlemen (Jeff) looked at me and instead of running the other way asked if he could assist me. I explained my dilemma and said he would go and try to find a cart. Well I figured that would be the last time I'd see him. Nope, came back in 5 minutes wheeling a cart, and then insisted on taking it to my vehicle, rolled it all the way back to the return section and placed them on the counter smiling and chatting the entire time. I don't think I've experienced service like this since full service gas stations 40 years ago. The rest of the return process went flawlessly also. Thanks Kohl's for employing service employees such as Jeff. Just restored my faith in online purchases and my dread of going into department stores. read more

Visited this place for the first time on Monday (Labor Day). Honestly, it was hard for me to tell the difference between the two stores although it was cleaner and the product lines seemed a little nicer. I also noticed there were significantly more checkout islands. The problem was NOBODY WAS OPERATING THEM! The store was super crowded but there was like one checkout register open per 15 customers. Not good. Super huge lines. Obviously the company is trying to save money by not hiring enough staff. No way I go back. read more

This store STINKS!!!! The employees are so clueless. I tried to buy 2 pair of ripstop shorts yesterday. They were on sale for $14.99. There was a big SALE sign right there. I get to the register and they scan in at $22 something? WTF? The girl at the register calls for another employee to go back and check the sign. He comes back and says the sign said $19.99, REALLY? I tell the guy let's go back together, I will show you the $14.99 sale sign. He tells me OK, but WAIT I HAVE TO MAKE A PHONE CALL??? Umm? I'm a real customer right here right now, can you finish helping ME??? I guess NOT! I left with out spending my $$$ there and went to Target to buy some shorts with no hassles. read more

So, I went there Friday, Aug 23rd after working a long shift to shop for some shirts. I parked on the 41st Ave. side of the store. I noted the store store hours & that the store was open until 11 PM. I did my shopping & proceeded to exit the 41st Ave. doors. The doors were locked!! I asked the employees if they could unlock it as my car was parked there. They told me no & that exit is closed at 10 PM. There was no obvious sign on the door as I entered the store or I would have parked on the Clares St. (Ross Store) side. I had to walk through the store & around the back. It should be noted that I have a knee injury & another injury that makes walking difficult. What if I had a cane, a walker or a wheelchair? 1st off, there should be a LARGE sign on the door advising that door would be secured at 10 PM. Also, an announcement should be made 10 minutes prior that the door will be locked at 10 PM giving us the opportunity to move our vehicles to the "Ross Side". Employees seemed like I should have known the door would be locked at 10 PM & didn't really care about me being inconvenienced & the added pain of walking the long way around to my car. read more

This place is really terrible. It is SO messy, it's almost impossible to shop in. There's clothes on the floor, thrown on racks, and clothes from the men's department in the women's department. Not to mention that there's never anyone on the floor if you need help, and when you do find someone, they aren't very helpful. Also, the lines can get pretty ridiculously long. Overall, I think they should hire more people, and people who don't have an attitude. read more

I needed to find some white collared short-sleeved shirts for my 6 year old grandson. I didn't think I'd find them anywhere (it's now October - not the summer for the short sleeves, and who sells white collared shirts for little boys anyway?). Amazingly, I found exactly what I needed at Kohl's, and they were on sale! When I went to pay for the clothes, the girl at the cash register was so supportive and friendly, she gave me credit for an additional coupon sale that was going on. What amazing service! I often say that Kohl's practically pays you to come in and buy its merchandise. Both this store and the Campbell (Hamilton Avenue) store have very friendly, competent personnel at the registers and at the customer service counters. Several times I've had to take back merchandise, and there has never been a hassle of any kind (but I did have all the receipts). At times when we've needed a salesclerk on the floor, there haven't been any. With that said, however, it is easy to find things in the store, even the two-story Campbell site. These are much nicer stores than Mervyn's were towards the end of Mervyn's; Kohl's are a lot like Mervyn's once was, say, in the 1980s. I think the best deals are: (1) Clip the 15 or 20% coupons from the Kohl's emails (easy to sign up for); (2) Watch the newspapers for the sales that occur at certain times of the day/night (using the price-check machines to make sure you are in the right "zone"); (3) In menswear, jewelry, purses, exercise wear, and lingerie, watch for the specials; and (4) Getting a Kohl's charge (which I did not do) entitles you to extra dollars off. Always spend less here than I expect to, and there are not many stores you can say that about. Also, not everything here is "made in China". There are things made in Indonesia, Vietnam, USA, and other countries. Kohl's would deserve 5 stars if the merchandise were kept neater, esp. on weekends, and if the cashiers could expedite the account-opening process so that others in line can go on their way. read more

I was very disappointed that the Christmas decorations had been removed even before Christmas. On Christmas Eve they were gone already! I was going to go to Kohls and do some last minute shopping on Christmas Eve, but when I found the decorations were gone, I hurried out of Kohls, and made my purchases elsewhere. A lot of people still want to shop on Christmas Eve, and even after Christmas, when they redeem gift cards and do exchanges. Keeping the decorations up longer actually helps keep people 'in the spirit' and increases sales. Instead, Kohls yanked them down before Christmas Eve like the Grinch. read more

Kohls is kohls....I mean if you sign up for their propaganda and get in line with all the deals there are to be had it's a pretty solid shopping establishment! You pretty much see the price of something, then the initial markdown and then the even greater markdown for those who subscribe to special kohls memberships! This kohls, however, always feels better organized and cleaner than the others in San jose or gilroy. And store employees will actually ask you if they can help you find anything here which really makes you feel like you're shopping in a classy joint ;-) read more

We love the folks at Kohl's. They recently sent a volunteer team to serve dinner to the 1200 people who had signed up for our bike ride near Watsonville CA. Nic Bongiorno brought five of his coworkers and did a magnificent job in the kitchen and on the serving line. The bike ride is a fund raiser for our non-profit organization, Cyclists for Cultural Exchange. Thank you Kohl's for having such great employees. read more

I placed my first order with Kohl's online the other day. The website kept telling me that my address was wrong and to resubmit the form. When it finally went through I noticed that Kohl's had charged my account 7 TIMES! I called them to cancel and they said that there was nothing they can do AND I couldn't get a refund until I receive the items and mailed them back to them! Unbelievable! I followed their site's directions and now I'm out $700 and basically zero customer service. I will never use their website again or shop in their store. read more

This Kohl's is in Capitola, California, United States of America. From the time I walked in, there were piped in advertisement and promotions. ALL in Spanish. Not in Spanish and English...all Spanish. The store is kind of messy in the clothing departments and the dressing rooms. I shop here all the time!!! BUT!!!! last night was a horrible experience!!! MY grandma had purchessed kurig coffee machines for everyone in my family for christmas. I was so excitted!!! BUT the day before yesturday it started leaking water out of the bottom all over my counter!! So i called and spoke to a manager (Gino) i explained to him what happened and that i didnt have the box or gift recipt. He said it was no problem just bring it into the store and go to any regester and let them know you are exchanging it. so thats what i did. i walked in ( wasn't greeted) went to the first regester i saw and told the young lady i was going to even exchange this for a new one. With a dirty look on her face she told me i had to go to customer service and she could'nt do anything for me. i explained to her i spoke to a manager and he said i could go to any regester in the store. then she said ok. she told me to go grab the one i wanted to exchange it for. (didn't offer to help or anything) so i walked back there grab the one i wanted and walked back to do the even exchange. when she helped me i simply let her i know i didnt appreciate the attitude and explained to her i am a loyal customer and shop here all the time. she told me that i lied to her when i came in and that i didnt need to flip out on her. which was shocking she raised her voice at me and called me a liar!! i was being very polite and just explained to her that she was being very rude when i walked in and i did exactly what her manager said to do!!!! her name is JESSICA Q!!!! i will be calling a manager today to explain to them what happened i do not take well to being called a liar!!! read more

When Kohl's opened I was hoping for a decent shopping experience. Returns are easy at Kohl's and the checkout clerks have always been helpful and courteous. Until today. I bought 2 breakable pieces of dishware. Yes, I know I have to bring my own bag, and I did. But it never occurred to me that I'd also have to bring something to wrap my breakable purchases in. It seems they could at least do that much. My complaint about this Kohl's is that not only are many of their clothing products cheap and of inferior quality, the place is a disaster area. The entire store, not just one department. Everything is thrown in piles on the floor; you have to really watch where you're stepping. Even items that have remained on the shelves are in jumbles. Nothing is organized. There was a sale on curtains last week. Not only was the curtain selection extremely limited, nothing was in its place. In the housewares department, all the small gadgets are thrown in heaps instead of being hung up. The bakeware is all mixed up, not stacked so you can find things easily. It looks like 5 kindergarten classes were turned loose in there on a seek and destroy mission with no supervision. It's very, very bad. Obviously, management isn't doing their job. The Dollar Store is better organized than Captiola Kohl's. With their current organizational skills and system, it's just a bad joke. If you can manage to get out of there without tripping on merchandise, head on over to Ross across the way. The store is organized and neat. Things are easy to find. It really brings to mind that old adage, "Who's minding the store?" And who from corporate is overseeing this mess? Please, Kohl's. You have lots of nice employees and a new, big store. I used to liked coming here. It had been a while since I had shopped here and their customer service sucks to say the least. I work in retail and am nice enough with the customers. To start off the blond lady at jewelry with glasses and hair up to her shoulders (because I didn't catch her name) that was working at night was absolutely rude. She passed right by me almost taking me with her and didn't even bother to say excuse me. I saw a friend there with her 1 year old child and she had a blush container and she took it away from her. Then I was looking at the perfumes and when I decided to smell one somehow another one fell (that I hadn't even touched) and it broke. She was in her cash register right by us and she didn't even flinch or look up to see what had happened. I work at a store so I know that immediately when something breaks you have to react so no one gets hurt. So I went and told her what had happened and she made a sour look face at me and was like okay and still didn't move. We left and the glass was left there unattended for a while. Even when we left there was still no employee to be found. Then when we were going to pay we had a question about using some old Khols cash that we had since we left the country and didn't have time to use it. The cashier answered in a rather rude way and she said that the manager would tell us the same exact thing so there was no reason in calling her. I asked to talk to a manager and when the manager came she had a bit of attitude as well and didn't even rethink or try to be rather nice. I work in customer service and this experience just made me not want to shop there ever again. I left more about $100 worth of merchandise on a rack because the experience was just so bad. I won't be giving this store my money for bad customer service. The employees act as if they're doing us a favor. I won't ever be back again and will make sure to let people know how this store has gone downhill. I used to like the customer service here and the merchandise but now it has no selections and I don't know if the management changed and that's why it's gone downhill as far as customer service from last time I shopped here. read more

This is a mixed review. I am usually a huge fan of Kohl's because of the reasonable prices, great coupons, and generally helpful customer service. Tonight I went in and decided to buy some shoes. It ended up that I had a Kohl's coupon to apply. Long story short. The discount didn't work, but both the sales associate and the asst. manager (Angelica) were unable to explain why it didn't work. Together we read through the coupon at least 3 times (I know. I can't believe I did that either) Usually at Kohl's my experience has been that if a issue occurs, the sales associate defaults to the customer. Neither employee was willing to do this. I'm pretty sure I became increasingly frustrated which kind of surprised me because it is not really my personality to do that. I finally resigned to the fact that the coupon was not going to work when Angelica sensed that my frustration was much more about what I felt to be false advertising than the value of the actual coupon and agreed to honor the discount. The reason I posted a 1 star is because of Kohl's employees inability to explain why the discount could not be applied. I do not feel that this was the fault of either employee. Angelica did attempt to explain, but it was because of the discription of the coupon was so vague, it was impossible to identify the reason. To me, this type of situation puts Kohl's employees in a very awkward position to say the least, and it just does not seem like sound business practice. I am writing this review because I would really like Kohl's to be aware of this policy and the challenges it can impose on your employees. I would also like Kohl's to know that I have a great deal of respect for the way Angelica maintained her composure and communicated with me in a very professional manor throughout the interaction. For a brief moment I vowed to myself that I was done shopping at Kohl's. However, the fact that your asst. manager was willing to work through the issue until we both were able to appreicate each other's perspective meant a great deal to me.
