Wifey and I recently went into Kohl's for some Christmas shopping for our adult Daughters. We made a "b-line" for cosmetics, as Wifey had seen some "must get" items on a recent Kohl's ad. One two separate occasions, we either had a bit of trouble finding the items we were looking for, or there was only 1 left (2x daughters, so we need 2x of everything) and needed help. Stephanie (AKA: Steph and I hope I'm spelling it correctly) came to the rescue both times. Not only did she greet us upon entry to the section she was working, but when she saw us milling about (needing help) she preempted without us having to ask and offered assistance. The first time to find an item, the second time to get a 2nd of another that had been depleted. All this while helping other customers & supporting her co-workers, whom are also quite polite and polished. We ended up getting exactly what we were looking for, at a value that was good for us. Both Wifey and I, having previous management experience, were very happy with the cosmetic section of the store, not to mention their excellent staff. read more

They don't take accountability for their staff's actions and don't take incidents seriously. Very disrespectful cashier rung my mother up and flipped her name tag while doing so. Didn't look up a single time and had the audacity to accuse my mom of yelling at her, my mom literally said hello. I called and spoke to a manager and they never got back to me and never gave me the name of the cashier so I could escalate the situation to corporate. read more

Save your valuable time; don't visit this store. The selection of clothing and other merchandise is so low that it's not worth opening the doors for business. The selection of clothing sizes and relevant styles is non-existent. The newly hyped Sephora is an embarrassment to the Sephora company. Most of the displays were empty, with no products to try. Those that had product samples available were either broken, empty, or crushed. That will be my last visit to Kohl's in Santa Maria. read more

I went to pick up a online order. As I was waitingcause he took the customer with a return before me! I said to the store manager, i wish this wasn't in the back of the store, it's such a long walk. He said ,I walk it all the time, I said,maybe you don't have bad knees, he said yes, mine are not good, but I walk it several times a day! I just thought he was rude,he acts like he owns the store,and if he does he won't for long with that attitude. No service people anywhere, Went t K-Mart down the street, better inventory, better service & clean. Bought 2 pairs and went home happy ! I can not recommend this store. This is a nice store, clean and organized for most part. Customer service is terrible. Uneducated, rude, non-personable. Might as well place mannequins at you entrance. The two times I entered I encountered two different people each time neither one of them spoke they just looked at each other with a dumb look on your face and completely ignored me and every other customer that walked in. It's difficult to imagine how the interview went and who would hire them and put them in that position, is the first impression of your store. Here's an idea, be creative and keep up with the times take those personnel that are located at your doors and put them at the changing rooms and then they can make sure that the changing rooms are clean in between each customer since your concern is customer safety. read more

We are kohl's customers for a long time we've been to a lot of stores in Southern California this is by far the worst of all we stop to get a couple of shirts and some earrings which we pick fairly quick we go to pay there's like 15 people in line and only 1 cashier on each side with a similar long line on both not enough personnel working it took 25 minutes to pay I understand about labor cost but this is ridiculous not enough people on every department and only 2 cashiers for a big store no wonder I see reviews saying there's always a mess Stores like this one make me buy online more than ever read more

I have never been much of a aficionado of Kohls. But recently, when I google an item and the results show that 3-4 locations in Santa Maria sell the item, all the others can order it for me, and Kohls has it in stock. Last month, I needed a dress shirt with french cuffs, we tried many other stores without results, and then found success at Kohls. A couple of weeks later, we were on our way to the outlets at Pismo for a good pair of dress shoes for me, and I said 'Let's try Kohls on the way'. Success again. Well done, Kohls. read more

I have to take a minute and give Mariana five stars. Mariana was patient, kind and so professional. At 5 minutes to closing Mariana was working on a correction to my purchase that another associate had instructed incorrectly to just bring in the receipt. Mariana was sorry for the misunderstanding and could see that I was upset that this might not get handled without another trip into the store. She was so kind and said if you are patient and don't mind waiting I will input it all in manually. Wow .... that is amazing service..... thank you Mariana for that kind of service from a such young associates. We were travelling down to Santa Barbara; I had to buy a light sport coat for a dinner at a country club there. I tried to find a jacket at the outlets in Pismo Beach but all the sizes there we for thin boys/men. Going south on US 101 we GPS'd to the Kohls in Santa Maria and they had the largest selection of men's sports coast I've seen in years, all the sizes; I noticed they were even up to men's size 52. Plus the prices were great with half off the second coat. My wife, who is picky about purses, found a great black purse for $20 . Checkout was fast, and they gave me fifty dollar cash card which I am using for more sports coats online and combined with other discounts, worked out to be a fantastic deal. We hit the jackpot going over to Santa Maria Kohls, much bigger than our local Kohl's in San Rafael. It was not particularly close to the US 101 though, but well worth the drive. read more

I've been shopping at this Kohls for years and today I saw what the majority of other reviewers saw. The place was a mess and kids running all over, in and out of racks, up and down the isles, in and out of the dressing rooms! It was just like Walmart! I guess I have not shopped here on a Sunday before, or this place is really going down hill fast. I kept hearing the call for more cashiers everywhere but no one came. I could tell they were in the middle of inventory procedures which added to the clutter and mayhem. I wonder...are they understaffed? Sounds like that is most likely the issue. Lack of payroll dollars being allocated for this location. Corporate??? I'll come back because I like some of the brands, but only on a weekday. Sad to see this situation happening in one of my favorite stores. I hope something can start happening to change this situation around. I stumbled upon this store after looking for a place to eat. Curious at what this department store had to offer, I went inside. I saw a really clean interior, bright lights, and great selection of clothes. And surprise, it wasn't a high-end store, it was Kohl's. They have sales everywhere, and I was impressed by the selection of apparel, jewelry, and home items. It almost made me think of the now-bankrupt Mervyn's, except on steroids...somewhat bigger and somewhat better. So, if you can't find what you want at the typical department stores (in Santa Maria, that's JCPenney, Sears, and Macy's), go to Kohl's. read more

If you shop smart and and set your expectations accordingly, then you'll be satisfied shopping at this department store. I've had nothing but great service and experience at his location. The operating hours are something that you'd except at a major metropolitan area, and that has saved me when unneeded some Levi's on a pinch. I'm sure the staff makes their best effort to keep up with the throngs of people that mangle their shelves, but some of the racks would not pass muster. First and last visit to this excuse of a merchant. Under staffed. Poorly staffed. None of the three people I dealt seemed to want to be there. I felt like an inconvenience so I cancelled my online order at the pick up dept and got out of that madhouse. This store has no pride. So I called her after checking online for a particular pair of men's shoes. I call they transfer me. They say yes they have the 1 pair and said they will look for it. Because having 1 means it can be hard to apparently find. After 8 mins they tell me they looked and can't find it. So I spend the next 2 hours driving around Santa Maria looking for this participle shoe in this particular size. Some stores had it but not in the size or in the style. So I was about to leave the town empty handed. Thought I would stop by and just check out the selection at the Kohl's store on my way home. First off every shoes displayed isn't even offered in the boxes below it. I then pull every 11.5 out and what do I find. Odd...I find the shoe after searching for a whole 5 mins. You can assume how extremely pissed off I was. I found it. Though I was happy. I was almost so irritated I didn't even want to buy from this store again. Came in around 4pm on a Sunday and waited a total of 32 mins just to checkout. When asked if they were going to be opening up more register I was told this was the best we can do. While people at the "Returns & checkout" registers in the back stood there and did absolutely nothing. Horrible horrible service. read more

You guys are the worst ever. I've ordered glassware online multiple times because you guys can't ship it right and it ends up getting damaged on the way here so I end up never receiving it. Slowest service ever!!! Their return policy has gone down hill, we ordered an item online... after less than a month of having the item it's stopped working.. since we ordered online we didn't have the physical receipt, went to the store to do an even exchange and was told we couldn't do that because we didn't have a physical receipt, I just had the receipt on my phone from when I had purchased it online. we had to return the broke item and pay full price for the other item, since it was no longer on sale for what it was when we purchased. This is ridiculous to me. In the past kohl's has had a great return policy, I rarely return things but I've never had an issue until now. I've been a long time customer at this store. Needless to say I will no longer do any business with kohl's or recommend them to anyone. I was very disappointed after I left. If I could I'd leave zero stars. read more

Has a little something for everyone. Cute clothes and home decor. They tend to have great deals/sales. Return policy is awesome although it sometimes takes forever to do a return. There is a huge clearance section, but it's not maintained very well. Being that I used to work retail, I often pick up all the clothes off the ground and hang them on the rack. It really does look like a thrift store in some areas of the store. Especially the shoe department. I don't bother looking in that section and buy online instead. For the most part staff is friendly, until you deny signing up for the Store credit card. I like to go here when I can't find anything at Macy's or JC Penny's. read more

Tried to get help in kitchen area item hung 10 feet off the floor.asked for help 3xs...no one came..i had to climb up on stool to get item....that took 20 minutes.. Then went to check out and only 2 checkers...and each had about 12 to 15 people in each line. Terribly managed. Two days after Christmas, store is packed, zero floor people, an 18 people deep line at the check out, and only two cashiers who refuse to look up, asess and ask for help. Lady in front of us in line said her son worked there, but left due to bad management.
