Probate has to be in either North Carolina (where the case is being tried) or Wisconsin (where my parents lived). I chose Wisconsin because it looked like I could file the paperwork myself easily. Except, the clerk of Waushara County has decided that, since neither I nor my siblings live in Wisconsin, I have to pay an attorney who's in Wisconsin. Camp Lejeune attorney works (or is, I'm thinking) a company called Probate Pro who connects you to a probate attorney (for a fee, of course). They sent me to Heritage Law Office in Milwaukee. First off, they have a client portal which I thought was nice. I receive an email that they "sent" me the probate paperwork. Don't know if they actually sent it through the mail because I never received it. So, I downloaded it from the portal, completed and signed it, and returned it. Never received notification it was received. Luckily, I had sent it so I could track it so I knew when it was received. But, never acknowledged receipt. Probate for my mom's case was December 20th - never notified of this. Don't know if the court date was changed but, when I checked the court cases again the next week, probate case is now January 8th. I receive an email that there's new information in the client portal on New Years. Here's a message that probate has been approved and court is January 8th and can I be there (remember, I'm not in Wisconsin - that's why I need a Wisconsin attorney according to the circuit clerk). Now, if I knew the week prior that court was January 8th, why am I receiving a message on the 1st that court is in a week and can I please drive up north in the middle of winter? Bearing in mind, still no settlement offer so I should take two days off work, paying for gas and a hotel in the hopes the military offers us money. I respond that night that no, I'd rather not drive to Wisconsin in the middle of winter and can this be done via Zoom instead. Court is in three days and I have yet to receive a response. All things considered, I would not have chosen this attorney and certainly won't be using them for my dad's case if the military ever offers to settle on that.

Casey checked in with me frequently throughout my medical recovery and secured all my records and losses. Any questions, even if I felt were mundane, were answered. They were able to negotiate a fair settlement on my behalf. Including the payment for our totaled vehicle, my injuries, medical care, and lost wages. I didn't have to worry about anything during my recovery. I didn't have to pay anything up front which was a plus. Then, on Monday afternoon, after waiting anxiously to speak with someone, a woman named Carlie (sp)- (kind words for how she spoke and acted) called me and claimed that they do not take Bad Faith Insurance Claims. She was extremely rude, provided me the wrong number for Lawyer Refferal Services, then hung up on me. She repeatedly said how popular they are but dismissed me like I'm not even worth the minuet she gave me. Horrible experience! A little compassion goes a long way but she had none. The number she gave me was out of order and not even close to the number found online. Wouldn't use them ever in the future!

During the outbreak of the Covid pandemic, I was working a contracted job through this agency by…read morethe name of Woodway USA, as a traveling technician. Woodway specializes in fitness and biomedical equipment, making their main clients gyms and medical facilities, among other highly trafficked businesses. The gyms were ordered to shut down and our department effectively had no work to do. I often found myself sitting at my desk for 8 hours a day, researching various components, and received very little actual job training, which I relayed to my handler Mike, on a consistent basis, as well as my supervisor at Woodway. The production staff at Woodway decided to perform a walkout over lack of proper PPE and safety regulations within the company, and they essentially conscripted the temps like myself to "help out". Meanwhile the rest of us who had been traveling all over the country, and even internationally were not allowed to quarantine. I mentioned that I did not feel safe coming to work, to my supervisor, and that I was not doing the work I was hired to do, and so would be going on unemployment until things returned to normal. I received a text message saying I was fired, like I was some kind of bad date. Did Aerotek attempt to help me find another position after this? Absolutely not, they gaslit me and tried to make it my fault for standing up for myself, and caring about not only my own safety, and the safety of others. I ended up winning a grueling, 4 month long battle over this, with unemployment, solidifying in my mind that I was wronged. This company does not care about you, it only cares about making money. Would not recommend.

BLUF: After nearly four years of representing myself, I had developed a good sense of what…read moreeffective advocacy looks (and doesn't look) like. Attorney Leaf exceeded my expectations. Once I retained her, I felt like the cavalry had arrived. She reduced my financial exposure from thousands of dollars to hundreds, and the difference in preparation and advocacy between Attorney Leaf and opposing counsel was immediately apparent. I imagine there's a time when a young person dreams of becoming an attorney, then spends years learning what excellence in the profession looks like. Then comes the day that person realizes they have become that attorney--and demonstrates it every day. In my view, Kristin Leaf is one of those attorneys. Words I would use to describe her are: mindful; considerate; empathetic; strategic; capable; understanding; and formidable. By simply doing her job well, Attorney Leaf distinguished herself immediately. The difference in preparation, responsiveness, and resourcefulness in court was obvious. Although Attorney Leaf treated the "other side" with courtesy and respect, and always conducted herself in a dignified manner, the difference in caliber between Attorney Leaf and opposing counsel was unmistakable. She takes the time to understand not just your legal position, but what you're actually trying to accomplish. She doesn't make you feel like a "case," like billable time, or like she's got more important things to be doing. She treats you like a human. She's also mindful that her time is your money and makes every interaction count. I personally observed that Attorney Leaf stepped in and pinch-hit for my other GRGB attorney. She's got people's backs. I had been pro se for almost four years, with the exception of two short appearances by attorneys that made my situation worse. I have no doubt that if I had been represented by Attorney Kristin Leaf from the beginning, I would be in a much stronger position in family court today. Most people "don't have the money" to spend on a lawyer, me included, but if it comes to spending money you don't have, better to spend it on someone who will work hard to get the outcomes you need-and who has a responsive, supportive, hard-working team-than on a budget attorney who doesn't truly listen or prioritize you. That's the one thing I appreciated most about Attorney Leaf. She listens--even when she probably already knows the answer. Even when your thinking is off track. Even when you're discussing something the court can't fix. She listens first, then works with you to identify the path forward. Attorney Leaf has clearly invested in becoming an exceptional attorney, and it shows in every interaction. GRGB is lucky to have her. Retain her before the other side does! I am also represented by another GRGB attorney in a criminal matter. As that case progresses, I expect to update this review to reflect that experience as well. That said, if you need representation on multiple legal fronts, that's yet another advantage of retaining this firm.

Don't believe all of the fake reviews they've been piling on since I've left this review. This law firm are snakes and will rip you off if you have to do Chapter 13. ********** I've been overbilled thousands of dollars by Steve Berg. Steve would call me to ask me questions and would take a question that took 5 minutes to answer and turn it into a 45 - 60 minute call. Then he would call me again days later because he "misplaced" my answer. So, another 45-60 minute call. Then he would call a week or two later asking the same question. Each and every time I was billed for full hours for Steve Berg. I had suspected something was going on so I demanded all communication happen via email. Steve Berg got upset and stopped communicating completely, even important case issues. He emailed a couple of times but eventually went back yo his old tactics of multiple phone calls regarding the same issues over and over again. I've been billed for tax return review and submit to the trustee but then months later I get a notice that my return was never sent to the trustee and my case was set for dismissal as a result. When they did finally send them, they billed me again. This has happened twice.
