The sushi was amazing! The service was great, and the best part is their Sunday special. Most of their specialty rolls are half price. My favorite was the Harlingen roll, but we ordered the Super crunch, Texas Roll, and Rainbow roll. They have a variety of beers as well as Japanese beers. This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the area. As always the food and table service were excellent. The problem came with the check. They added a gratuity to the bill, but I explained that I had already paid a gratuity in cash greater than what was on the check, and needed it removed from my bill. I was told that it was not possible. I put a generous tip in the tip jar on the cooks cart, as the menu stated that all gratuities are split evenly between cooking and wait staff. I was then told that that tip jar was that person's personal tip jar and not shared. I explained that is not what is written in the menu. So after a few minutes of arguing, I paid cash for the remainder of the bill and stormed out. I will never forget this and will never again return. My family and I tried the restaurant for the first time and were pretty disappointed. We weren't impressed with their service, food or ambiance. The restaurant looked decent interior and exterior wise. The food was overpriced for not so great quality. I was a little bummed about the whole experience. The fried rice tasted more like the oil it was cooked in instead of any spices it could've been cooked with. Rolls were decent. Would I go again? Me personally no. Tried Kohnami for the first time and had a great experience! The server was a young man who said he was new. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference because it looked like he knew exactly what he was doing. It was also large party and he did great! I appreciate how friendly he was too! We sat at the hibachi table since a couple of our friends had never had a "hibachi experience." The hibachi chef was awesome! He was hilarious and put on such a great show. The first timers in my group had big ole smiles on their faces! Thank you for giving them that experience! Food was DELICIOUS. I don't know what they put in those sauces but maaaaaan. The first time the slow service and mediocre sushi wasn't that bad because they have good sushi discounts on Sundays This time around was even worse than before. Their service is slow. Waited over 10 minutes for a server to come take a drink order. The dining area only had two other tables with people at them. That should have been the first clue. Ordered sushi and hibachi, they came out at completely different times leading to us not getting to actually eat together. HEB sushi is better quality and less expensive. read more

We're big fans of both locations. Like the fact that this location does hibachi for lunch hours as well. We always get the Special B where we get filet, chicken and shrimp. Extra broccoli makes it even better!! Fried rice of course is our option. Love the salad dressing but it comes with soup and salad. My husband and I tend to share so we can get more variety. Our favorite starters include crab puffs (ragoon), shrimp tempura, and sushi! They offer a variety of food options including hot and cold sushi. Definitely check them out if you are in the area!! If you're wanting something like PF Changs or Panda's orange chicken it's not. It's not crispy, it's soft. It's more like peppered chicken with a light orange sauce. My second time here, thought I'd give it a second chance. I was wrong... service SUCKED! Waitress probably gets paid hourly so she doesn't care what she makes in tips. Took me 15 minutes just to get my drink order which was water with a lemon. My glass was always empty with no one to ask if I'd like another beverage or another refill. I ordered the Scallop Teriyaki and waited 30 minutes just to get the side of fried rice that came with the meal. My spouse got her main entree 10 minutes before I did then we both had to wait 30 minutes for fried rice. Not a single manager or supervisor taking a look around to see how satisfied the guest were. I literally offered to help manage the place to help them as a favor. Management and owners should be ashamed of themselves if that is the type of place they are running. The orgasmo roll is out of this world, their sushi guy knows exactly what he's doing. Their general tso guys is better than any other general tso I've EVER tasted. Stopped by to make a to-go order. Sat at bar and waited 15 minutes before any "server" said a word to me, never greeted me or acknowledged my existence. When the short little weirdo finally spoke after I asked to order, it replied, "oh, we're trying to see who is assisting you. The thing even had the nerve to plug her phone up in front of me and not once look my way and say "someone will be with you shortly."
