Kevin, my apologies to you and your staff because this update is long overdue! Let's be honest. My initial review was written shortly after they had opened and, as anyone knows who has taken on a new venture, sometimes it just takes some time to work out the kinks. Anyway, Kevin contacted me to tell me that they had made some improvements and invited me to come give them another shot. He even paid for our dinner. My second experience was totally different! The service was great and the food was cooked just how I like it, with nice fresh veggies. In fact, I enjoyed my meal so much that I even came back the next day for lunch! I've been back a few other times as well. Their menu is extensive, their prices are very reasonable (with excellent specials), their cabbage soup is super delicious, they will honor your special requests and they aim to please! If you have a craving for chinese that has to be fulfilled and don't want to drive to Harlingen or brownsville, then ok. I'm picky though. Generally I'm not enthusiastic about chinese in the valley. The service here stinks. Think those old westerns where you walk in and everyone stops what they are doing, looks up at you, and then goes back to what they were doing. You find a seat and wait on waitstaff to bring you a menu. Meanwhile who I assume is the owner is at the register looking at/ for someone to help his patrons. Beverages are served in small glasses almost the size of a lowball. They serve tea with a teaspoon but no sugar at the tables. First Chinese place where I don't see not one bottle of soy sauce on the tables. If you need to cure a Chinese jones this is the place. The food isn't all that bad. This is my favorite Chinese food place in the area. Whenever I go there aren't very many people, so the wait time isn't bad. They changed the menu not too long ago and added some new things which, in my opinion, is a great thing. I recommend the rice stick noodles with shrimp. Yum! read more
