I am giving this place 2 stars. I came here last year with interest in koi/ ponds. The customer service was so so. I didn't judge. I called recently to inquire on pond installation. Same lady Mona answered. The customer care is just not there. Here is my experience in detail: What I called first about is to inquire on cost to install. I was setting up an appt then at the end of the convo then told there is a $250 charge to come and consult/ quote. So I cancelled that. Then I was told without coming out to look it roughly cost 10K for fiberglass/ 5K maybe more for firestone liner to install. This was for a 500 gallon pond. Today I called back to inquire solely on filtration. There is a tone. Very unprofessional. Would not answer my question which was if I could proceed with purchasing a particular size filtration pond max system from them have them install it now and hook up to my existing pond until we ourselves install our bigger new one. I was told to research myself and that she couldn't answer that. Luckily for me this experience led me to call Complete Ponds. I spoke with one of the owners who literally spent 30 min on the call. He answered my question about filtration informing me yes you can purchase and use for now on your 125 gallon. He told me exactly which model I need for my future planning. He also quoted me an unbeatable price simply dig & install the liner and install filtration. Talk about night and day! They might be located in Roseville but more importantly customer care, shares knowledge, professional, friendly, and unbeatable pricing. It's crazy to think koi enterprise right in my own neighborhood would be like that. I will not return or recommend this establishment. I was truly impressed with the entire Koi Farm?... not sure of the correct term...and that was the problem. Anytime I asked a question, it seemed like I was supposed to already know or like I was a very ignorant person. I was hoping to ask about bringing my students to see this impressive facility but I don't want anyone to feel stupid for asking questions...especially young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Went to Koi Enterprise over the summer. We love to support local businesses and felt really good about going here. They were super friendly and knowledgeable. We bought 3 fish from them over a few weeks and they seemed healthy, we even bought their specially formulated koi food. We have a 1100 gallon pond with fish we have had for a year. However, within a month we lost one of the 3 fish (the fist fish we have ever lost) we bought from Koi Enterprise. We thought nothing of it. A week later we lost a second fish from koi Enterprise. We reached out to Koi Enterprise to get some insight on why we might have lost 2 of the fish we purchased from them. They asked us to provide water Parameters and we did. We never heard back from them. Super disappointing we want to support small local businesses but will not be back after getting no response. read more

They have an amazing variety of koi & pond fish, and extensive pond supplies, aquatic plants etc. I was shopping for a couple of plants for a small fountain in my backyard. I have seen Koi Enterprise's web page with expensive Koi for sale on numerous occasions but we had avoided coming here based on a friends bad experience. Boy was that a mistake! Located in a home ins West Sacramento Koi Enterprise boasts the largest selection of Koi in the Sacramento area by far! As you walk through the gate of the home you are greeted by a huge beautiful Koi pond. There are dozens of two foot long koi swimming around and begging for food as you observe them. Just like the old Capitol Aquarium there is a candy machine dispensing koi food available for a few coins. The front section includes about a dozen holding pools of various shapes and sizes. With Koi ranging from $20 to hundreds of dollars. We browsed the koi until Anthony approached us and asked if we were looking for any fish in particular and what our price range was, he then said I will be right back. We were a little perplexed as we didn't see any more fish to look at, but a few minutes later he came back and said, "please follow me" we were led to the back of the yard where there was a green house full of koi tanks. Anthony picked out two fish that he thought were exceptional within our price range and showed them to us. We agreed on both fish but one fish was sort of small for the price of $35 and Anthony said "the fish are priced on quality not size" but after seeing the hesitant look on my face he said I will give you both fish for $60 which was a $10 discount, SOLD! What I really appreciated from Anthony was despite the fact he had hundreds of fish available he only showed us the two he thought were exceptional and didn't try to sell us anything else. He went on to explain that he has 35 acres and receives shipments of 80,000 fish at a time. Anthony turned out to be the owner of Koi Enterprise and he advised the vast majority of his business is wholesale. His garage was well organized with a wide range of koi and pond products along with a cash register. Our experience here was top notch and we are looking forward to coming back soon to look at more fish. read more

Very poor service and defensive attitude. The owner will argue with you about everything and fail to take responsibility. In a recent case, I had them out two weeks ago and called them to fix the pump they supposedly fixed which was again not working 2 weeks later. The owner proceeded to argue and say the issue was with the surrounding trees which is ridiculous as they had just been trimmed 2 months earlier. We drove 1hour and 20 minutes to check this place out only to be rudely greeted by an older woman that works there. We had our 9 lbs. Yorkiepooh (on a leash) with us when she approached us and states " I have a big dog here and you should have checked with me before coming in, there's no telling how he will react". There were no signs indicating to check in nor a sign indicating no pets allowed. Needless to say, we did not stay long and will never return to this facility. Disappointed today with the professionalism of koi enterprise, sadly. What usually is a great experience with Anthony the owner, was a total disaster with woman shop keeper and it pains me to leave a 1 star review but it should be a zero. Walked into the store greeted the dogs per usual, made my way up to the desk needing a very important pump attachment for my 4000 gallon koi pond, I showed the "helper lady" the part I needed and even seen one in the store. Feeling like their may light at the end of the tunnel, I was told that she wasn't able to find "this part" in her catalog- uh oh and that I was to call her back Tuesday(4+ days no pump = big problems). As I was looking around the "store" for possible other solutions to save my koi, she explained to me that I could not look around and that I was being rude for looking around for parts. Figured it's a store and other solutions to fix my problem could be found - I was mistaken and asked to leave. I guess that just shows that not all customer service is created equal and at the end of the day the effort to help a customer is at the discretion of the one on the clock, easier to not help it seems on this one, shame. We always go to pet and hangout with Lilly and somehow always come home with a few fish, fish food, and equipment of some sort. Koi are mostly overpriced. Most of Koi Enterprise's koi come from Yamasan and Suda. I have purchased several gosanke that have lost beni. I would recommend checking out Champkoi and Genkikoi in the Bay Area. I have since been attending koi show to obtain better quality koi for the reasonable prices. My usual dealer is PSkoi where Russell Peters hand selects koi in Japan from major breeders and offer the koi to many different levels of hobbyists. Many of his koi have won titles in ZNA koi shows. Lastly, the owner Anthony often ignores questions on social media. Sad, because I had been their customer for years but no more. read more

I am in the beginning stages of considering installing a pond in my backyard. I called koi enterprise to inquire about pricing information and to ask for more information on the pond building process. I spoke with Mona. Very early in the conversation I started to feel shamed by Mona for not having all the answers. I provided her with the dimensions of the pond I was hoping for. I told her I was at the beginning stages of learning about this and was interested in hiring someone to help install a pond. Her response to me was "well it's clear to me you have not done your research. I'm not going to waste my time on you". I was very taken aback by how aggressive Mona was speaking to me as I had just called to ask for more information and to express interest in their services. I asked if I could speak with someone else and she told me she is the owner of Koi Enterprise. She was not willing to answer any questions I had about the pond building process and just said if I didn't know exactly what pump, what materials, what lining, etc. that I wanted she would not work with me. She was unwilling to provide me with any help or information. As I was speaking with her she hung up the phone on me. I felt her interaction with me was very disrespectful, aggressive, unprofessional, and unwarranted. I was just calling to inquire and I felt like Mona was scolding me for asking questions and not having all the answers she wanted. Koi Enterprise is a family owned small business located in West Sacramento. It's operated out of the extended property of the owners house. The owner, Anthony, in my opinion, is The Koi expert in the region. They have a very good selection of Koi and Koi pond products. Anthony has been around Koi and Koi ponds since he was 13, when he built his first pond. He was trained by a Japanese Koi expert that even took him to Japan and showed him the ropes. He continues to travel to Japan regularly and bring show quality Koi to the US legally (Vet cleared, quarantined etc). Anthony has been tapped by researchers to lend his expertise and knowledge about the fish on research projects. When you talk about Koi to Anthony, his sincere enthusiasm about Koi is quite evident. I think he is the Koi Whisperer. :) I started my Koi pond project and I was stuck. I spoke to Anthony over the phone and met him at his shop. Initially, I hired him as a consultant. . He kept me apprised electronically about the appointment (reminders etc.) Once he saw my partially manifested idea, he agreed to help me finish it. i am happy of the end product. They are located in a residential neighborhood behind some metal gates. Not exactly welcoming. After walking in and dodging some junk trailers and other miscellaneous garbage in the driveway, you arrive at a modified garage that is also not in great shape inside. There are some dusty dry goods like food and filters. I'm pretty sure if we didn't greet the person (female) standing there she would not have said anything to us. I didn't see the owner there, but there was another guy there and he didn't say anything either. I didn't even know he worked there until I saw him leaving very shortly after us, at about 12:15, and he flipped the open sign to closed. So that probably means don't try and come here during lunch because they might be closed. There were also a couple dogs, which I don't mind, but some people might. Watch out for dog poo, there were a couple near the koi I had to dodge. After walking through the garage we walked the koi for at least 15-20 minutes. They are kept in nice holding ponds out back. The fish looked healthy, but nobody asked if we needed help. I was actually very interested in buying some koi, but I guess they were not interested in selling. It's a shame, the fish were quite beautiful, which is pretty much the only reason for the second star. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place. Maybe if you get lucky and the owner is around you might get good service. I'm going to head to Sacramento Koi to see if they want my money instead. read more

He is super friendly, knowledgeable and will take time out to answer your questions. I had a horrible experience. I bought a house with a pond and I needed help getting it set up. I was told they could help me. They quoted me $1000. They said they would get there at 8 am, they showed up at 1:00 pm the hottest day of the year. Ripped out a bunch of plants (which is fine it was needed), but left them rotting in my yard! I disputed the charge and they cut it in half. So I paid about $500 (still too much), my pond was still a mess and I had a giant pile of rotting, fly covered plants in my yard. Gee thanks! read more

Just had my pond cleaned by Anthony and his partner buy koi Enterprises. These guys are thorough and fast and very professional. My pond was built in 2004 and I believe this is the cleanest it's ever been. Everything was explained to us before they did the job and it was exactly as they said. They replaced rocks that have fallen in and it's running perfectly. We don't have just a pond. There's about 30 ft of streambed and waterfall besides the pond and both were cleaned thoroughly. I would recommend these guys over and over again and really appreciate the work they did for us. I am somewhat disabled and they did everything without any help from me. However the location is extremely strange, it is run out of a building next to a home on a residential property and the grounds were unkempt and just odd. Not to mention their customer service was non existent. My friend and I walked around their koi for roughly 20 minutes and were never once approached by anyone who worked there.
