This is a great fish store. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable and most important they have quality livestock. They take the care to quarantine and only sell to you livestock that are healthy. On top of that they have very fair pricing. The shop is small and sometimes they sell out of fish you want but you can call in ahead. Also they don't seem to have a large selection of plants or invertebrates. I've been very happy with the fish I bought here and watching them flourish in my tank. read more

Always seen good quality fish. They are always willing to take your fish and give your store credit incase you don't like your fish even if you did not buy from it in the first place. Employees are super helpful most of the time. Store is super organized and their saltwater side tanks are immaculate! Only thing that is a bummer is their fancy's always sell out by the weekend they have smaller goldfish selection. So best bet is starting off the weekdays for a better selection. read more

Been here a lot recently since I got a fish tank and 2 Bettas (Bettas are not from this shop, but a gift from a friend and the tank is not from here either). I try to support locally owned fish stores and this is probably the only one left near me. The prices are decent and customer service is average-good. It can get crowded at times and it will get chaotic. There really isn't any number tracking system so I've had to wait to be helped every time I've been here. The employees are helpful once you get their attention, but they will sometimes help people who come in after you and you're left waiting even longer. Otherwise, the quality of the items are pretty great. I've only ever bought shrimp, plants and snails here. And some tank decor. Staff are knowledgeable so I'll continue to support them and buy from here. read more

I went into Aquarium and Reptile depot today with my two daughters 4/6. We picked out about 6 fish, then asked to see some plants that would be good. Then my youngest grabs at her crotch, and yells "I HAVE TO GO POTTY." I asked the woman she could use the bathroom. She looked at her and said "nope, we don't have a bathroom." Umm okay. I said okay and we left. Come on lady, she's four... I understand you don't have a bathroom for bums and junkies, but come on, a four year old girl is going to pee her pants in your store. After we drove to a gas station to use the rest room (which she barely made it), and buy some juices. I called up Splash Aquarium on Stockton BLVD. I posed the question if a four year old had to go potty, could she use your bathroom? They said absolutely. So we drove 30 minutes to the shop. Splash was super helpful for a fish newb. We bought $150.00 worth of fish, plants, food, and a heater. The staff that helped us was great with the girls, and genuinely a nice young man. Thank you, I didn't get his name, but you rock! He even fed the larger fish some feeders when my girls were curious about it, and asked lots of questions. He was also really good helping me select some cool live plants. This is a nice, small shop that has a good selection of plants, supplies, shrimp, and fish. The marine is on one side, fresh on the other. That way there is no confusion about what a person needs. On a recent visit, they had several tanks marked "not for sale," so I can only assume the fish inside were being quarantined and treated for something. This is a good thing. It's better than selling sick fish. The staff was helpful and friendly. I didn't need anything the day of my visit, I was just there to check it out after recently getting back into fish keeping. read more

This was the best aquarium store experience we have ever had. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. The selection of fish and plants was excellent and they also have really cool aquascaping options available. We were able to have all our questions answered and even though we came in at the end of the night we weren't rushed at all. It was some weird vibes in this store the moment we walked in no one greeted us and it just felt awkward one of the girls in there with braids stared at us weirdly the whole time without saying anything. No one ever asked if we needed help or something, just sat at the front on their phones or talking to each other it did not feel welcoming at all! Ok but the betta situation was awful. I only keep bettas and I was absolutely shocked and the bad conditions they keep their bettas in. It was really sad. PetCo does way better. The supply selection is a bit small. Good plant selection. Staff were helpful. But it's too depressing to see how they care for their bettas. Other fish seem to be kept ok. Unfortunately, a few days after putting the new plants in, Ich infested my tank and wiped half of my tank. Came here during the holidays to get my brother a gift certificate. Aside from the location being in a very sketchy area of south Sac they are the perfect store to hand pick each item you want in your aquarium. They have some gorgeous fish, even the iconic Blue Tang and Clownfish, as seen in Finding Nemo. :) You've got your tanks, sand/pebble, filters, to plants, little homes,and of course fish. It's not a super large store like the popular pet stores but something local enough to have everything you need at a reasonable price. Our daughter LOVES Nemo and Dory to the point where I've considered setting up an aquarium in our home! Should that time come we will absolutely come here as our first stop. read more

This place was awesome! So much to see! We went in the morning on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded inside. They definitely need more workers on the weekends, but the wait wasn't too long. This place has everything for your aquarium needs! From TANKS, FILTERS, DECOR, LIVE PLANTS, & MORE! They have a wide variety of different types of freshwater and saltwater fishies. I especially loved the Puffer Fish, which is on the saltwater side! Isn't he so cute? It looks like he's smiling at you. :) that would totally make my day whenever I pass by him everyday. Checked out all the live coral reefs and some love plants. I thought I got a bunch of plants for my two betta fish tanks, but by the time I got home and placed them in each tank, it still looked very empty compared to all the YouTuber's tanks. Hopefully, those plants will propagate and be full in no time! I can honestly say that ever since my husband brought the two betta fishes home to see what they'd do in the same tank (DuH), I've instantly become a fish mom to try and save these little guys and try to make them happy everyday. It's a great hobby and I can't wait to get into it more and maybe learn about what other tank mates I can put in my betta fish tank. We did lose one of the tetras yesterday. Maybe he got too tired or died of stress from playing with one of my betta fish too much. Poor little guy. Definitely needed to acclimate all the new tank mates before putting them together next time. (Oops!) Staff was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly! They have a good collection of fish and accessories for the tank in the store. You can get everything you need for your fish tank under one roof. The workers in the store are very friendly. Absolutely love this place! To start off, I've been coming to this place since I was a kid because my parents were supportive of me starting my own aquascape. Bought me a 125g with a stand and everything else I needed from here. :) Many years later, now I'm taking my own 6 year old here and he too shares so much interest in all the different fish they have and even though we used to come here frequently before he started school, he never gets sick of it. Recently my fish of 12 years passed with no real rhyme or reason. Parameters were still great and everything. So I came here to stock up on new freshwater fish. They always have great deals where you can get more fish for a discounted price and all of their fish are so lively. I've always wanted angelfish but never could because the fish I had previously were extremely aggressive and they so happened to have beautiful baby marbled angelfish at 2 for $16 and I of course got 2 ( will be getting more this week ) and some glowlight tetras which were 4 for $8. :) They have been absolutely thriving and can't wait to pick up more fish and some plants in the upcoming week! The customer service here is always great and never has failed me once. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They also have beautiful stocked display aquascapes, large and tiny that give plenty of inspiration and of course to adore the fish. :) read more

They have a decent selection of tanks, accessories, and decor. Their stock of fish and plants are amazing! I purchased plants here and they were all great quality and so cheap! They sell stem plants with a 3 for $10 deal, I highly recommend taking advantage of this. Staff is also very helpful and informative. Hi-ya! This is a good aquarium/fish store. They have a decent selection, prices are reasonable and staff is fairly helpful. They have a lot of saltwater decor and fish that would probably have saltwater owners super excited, but we're a freshwater tank owner so less fancy, but still big selection. We ended up getting a bunch of fish that made it safely home. Oh, one thing--there tank selection is so nice. I wish we had got out tank there---so many more styles and neat features. read more

I normally don't give bad reviews but I would like to address how the staff did not acknowledge my family when we walked in there last week. My son was so excited to see the clown fish and we had plans on buying everything there that day. Once we went in, the person in the cash register did not greet us and it is mainly due to her being with a customer. As we walked to the salt water tanks to where the fishes were, another associate did not acknowledge us. We were there for at least 20 minutes and still not one associate acknowledged us. So we left and decided to bring our business elsewhere and in which the aquarium at Citrus Heights was much more welcoming. read more
