I bought a living social deal for here. I thought the price is good and I've never ridden a horse. I've never been on a horse before and I got the biggest one. Herbie was taller than me. He was also very hungry. He kept eating grass every chance he got. You get up there and whoa, this is pretty high. It's an english saddle so you don't get that thing in front to grab onto that I remember from watching TV as a kid. Kristen has only been here a month, and she was great giving instructions to all of us on what to do. Would I do it again, probably not. It's a lot harder than it looks.

Emogene the equestrian Manager was informative and welcoming...Kristen our trainer trail ride guide was also friendly, no pretense, amiable and experienced...Amy accompanied Kristen was also friendly and took photos of our ride. If you are looking for an ocean trail ride this is not it. It is a simple but enjoyable trail ride on stable grounds that are rustic old Hawaii ...nothing fancy...straight talking gals ...not for prissy touristy uppity types... Right next to the botanical garden area...park out front and walk up the dirt gravel driveway...the horses were friendly and the gals take the time to place you on the horse best suited for you...just let them know...if you're the whiney high maintenance person this is not for you.

1.Use groupon to get major discount. 2.Trail is made for BEGGINERS! (don't expect racing horses) 3. Wear sunscreen & bring water! koko Crater Equestrian Center is a great place for begginers. Its a small trail around the back of the center with a small pasture to graze or let the horses ride. Then you are taken around the grounds until your hour is up. The people who guide you are VOLUNTEERS! They are not paid. So for those reviews that say that the trail sucks or that the staff is unprofessional at times. You have to remember they aren't paid a cent and they really don't have to help you. There taking the time to be there for the horses The only reward is to be able ride the horse after all the tours are done and its not even guranteed they'll get to ride. My sister is a volunteer here. You get what you paid for. If you are a experienced rider I wouldn't recommend this place, you will be supervised the whole trail. Also the horses her are sweethearts and are not meant for galloping all over the valley. They are truly for beginners which is great for those who use the groupon tickets!

After reading all of the terrible reviews, I wasn't very enthusiastic about our ride that my boyfriend booked through groupon. However, this turned out to be a great experience. I've never ridden a horse before, but our guide Janine did a wonderful job at teaching me. She did mention a few stories of people falling off, but that's something that can't really be controlled by the guides so that didn't affect my rating. My boyfriend and I had very timid horses, so I felt very comfortable right away and we didn't have any issues. The trail takes you around their property, which doesn't have great views but I still enjoyed it. If you're not a beginner, you might not enjoy it as much but I had a great time so I'd highly recommend this place.

    Great time with horses!

We loved this place. My niece and I took a lesson. We had no expectations and we had a great time! everybody was so nice and we got to meet all the horses! We learned to to ride properly. So we will be back for another lesson! We brought carrots and apples for the horses and got to give them all a treat! we will definitely come back for another lesson. Thanks Emma Jean for the great experience!!!

After being informed that it was a three month minimum I asked if we could consolidate that three months in 1.5 months of time since my trip was coming up shortly. She agreed and we had a couple of different times and different days scheduled. I soon realized she was neither a good teacher, nor positive, and she only wanted me to learn English even after I told her that's not what the horses practice in Mongolia. Her manager said disparaging comments like " come on even the kids can ride that horse". And I felt like was continuously cajoled like a child. After she had me ride bareback and asked me to trot, which I wasn't comfortable with and a horse fall later. I was over it. I knew I'd be breaking my 3 months but I swallowed the cost because I was sick of being around her toxicity. After she charged me for the three months, she charged me for additional 2 months. And told me I had to cancel in writing even though the whole premise was set for three months. I was charged 2250 for 5 lessons! Her contract is full of fine print and gotchas. And she still won't pay me back for my "missed lessons" that she didn't have me scheduled for.

It was tidy and set-up nicely. It had one very large arena for lessons and jumping events, and another medium sized arena that was well kept. Judy Woods is the Trainer and Instructor that I spoke with and was able to observe a couple of her lessons, and was very happy to see the diversity of her horsemanship. It was enjoyable to see her students bond and work well with a lesson horse. Most of the horses are privately owed, but Ms. Woods herself has a few fine horses that she teaches lessons on. The stable itself was very clean and well kept. Most owners appeared responsible for making sure their horses were looked after and cared for by private hands. Even so, I would highly recommend this stable to anyone who is looking to board their horse, or to someone who is just looking to work on their horsemanship in any discipline: Western, English or Dressage.

The website even states that they want "to make sure our participants have a safe and positive riding experience ..." What my child experienced was the exact opposite. There was inadequate supervision by the owner/trainer (who was on her phone often and not paying attention), relying on teenaged volunteers. The owner/trainer did not have a kind tone of voice when addressing children, even yelling at times. One example was when the owner/trainer wanted to take a picture of kids with a horse - my child went to stand next to the horse and the owner snapped at my child saying, "Don't be rude!" and never explained why she said that, leaving my child sad and not knowing what they did wrong (and crying all the way home in the car afterwards). Either the owner needs to hire a kid-friendly trainer, or they need to change their ways.

I wrote in the time that I wanted to start which was 1230 pm. I show up at 1230 exactly and go to check in at the outpost Hut. The 2 guys inside the Hut tell me they didn't see my reservation and they rented out all their balls to a group that just came in..... So...we had to WAIT until the group was finished to get the balls to play.... On top of that, I paid $10 per person to play, and the guy in the hut tells me there's only 6 or 7 holes available since they use the course to pop fireworks off of. New years was about a week ago!! You're telling me, you're too lazy to put back the holes for a whole week?! Cmon man..... Then, I ask for a cart to put all our stuff in and he tells me that they don't rent out carts but that I could get one at the golf hut. So my mom walks all the way over to the golf hut for them to tell her that they don't rent out golf carts for soccer golf......?! So then after all of this, the guy in the outpost hut tells me he will refund me the balls we rented as a way to make up the unfinished course and the time we had to wait for the balls to come back. That was nice of them.....except for the fact that he didn't do it!!! He was straight up lying. Bc i kept checking my account and I didn't see no refund pending from them.... So I waited 2-3 days then I finally call them back checking up on the refund. Explain the whole thing and I'm pretty sure the guy who answered the phone was the same guy who told me he would refund it to me the day of my reservation! So he puts me on hold and tells me that a manager has to be the one to refund me. So why did that guy in the outpost hut tell me he was refunding me if he really wasn't?!?! To top it all off, the course looks like crap. And they don't even have a score card to give you. Good thing I took a picture of their somewhat course layout so I knew where the heck I was going. The course is literally just grass that is so overgrown and bumpy that you cannot even call it foot golf. Save yourself time and don't go here.

Prior to booking the specific tour I had questions which were answered quickly upon emailing. We arranged to meet at a soot in Waikiki (hey shoppers pick a meetup at A La Moana so you can shop after your tour). We headed down the ramp and wondered how we would find him but it was pretty easy with a license plate that said Lost on a grey Dharma van! First, I had absolutely no idea that the tour would be conducted by an actor from the show! Greg was in several scenes filmed in HI for Lost and greeted us with a smile & promise of visiting many Lost sites. I won't list all the sites as they may be different for your tour, we wanted ours specifically focused on Lost. I am a huge Lost fan, my husband and teenager were ambivalent. Greg had tons of trivia which we were terrible at but it made it so much fun for all of us. I loved that the tour wasn't rushed, I was able to spend as much time at the beach and the temple as I wanted to reflect on how much the show meant to me. They were both emotional moments and I really appreciate being able to absorb the reality of being there. While I loved every site that we saw (penny's boat!) those two were the highlights for me. I binged Lost on hulu last year and was grateful that for every site we stopped at Greg had pictures of the scene on his iPad to remind us of what occurred there. He gave a very detailed explanation and we had discussions where appropriate. Don't forget, he was an actor in the show so he had a lot of personal input which I loved! My teen said that was his favorite part. Greg and this tour company are unique, there was no attempt to upsell or bring their own camera to sell us pictures afterwards. At every site Greg asked if I wanted a picture and even had some special magic shots for certain sites! I can't tell you or it would be a spoiler for your experience. Greg I still want tshirts when you create them! He even has a custom made CD of his favorite Lost music, which was a treat. This tour with Greg was without a doubt the highlight of our trip, he was incredibly knowledgeable about Hawaii and Lost which is exactly what we were looking for. Not a Lost fan? He has lived in Hawaii all his life and the tour would have been just as meaningful without the movie references. I only wish that we planned to come back again as I would book the Jacob lighthouse hike as well. I guess at some point I'll say "we have to go back!". You could certainly make a list of what you want to see and tour Oahu on your own but you don't get to have the same experience as having a native guide you through it. Please don't hesitate to book a tour, make sure to ask for Greg for many fun surprises. Mahalo to Lost Tours Hawaii for the memories!

We all LOVED the tour. Dave is knowledgeable about so much about Oahu and Hawaii. Geology, history, flora & fauna... the tour was more than Lost, but Lost was definitely the centerpiece. The screencaps from the show set the stage, so we could really see/ remember the moments filmed in each spot. If you are a Lost fan, this tour will meet every expectation. If you're not into Lost, I suspect that their non-Lost circle tour is just as amazing.
