LOST is my favorite TV show, and I always dreamed of going to Hawaii. This past April, my parents and I set sail from Sydney, Australia and ended our cruise in Honolulu. Naturally, since we left Sydney and ended up on "the Island," taking a LOST tour would be the perfect way to end our trip. When planning the trip, the only day we could spare for a full day tour of the island was May 2. I quickly found KOS Tours online which seemed to have the strongest and longest history of giving LOST-centric island tours. They had several half-day options to choose from, but we wanted the full circle tour to see the most in the limited time we had. So I pushed the button without hesitation and we were booked. When we got there, it turned out to only be my parents and me with one other person, so a great small group experience if you want to avoid large tour groups. Like many in other reviews, we had Greg Berquist as our guide. Greg was an extra several times on LOST, most notably appearing at Santa Rosa in scenes with Hurley. Some in other reviews had mixed feelings about Greg's opinions and theories about the show. Honestly, even though I didn't agree with everything he said, he argued his points well. It reminded me of how much I missed watching LOST when it first aired. Theorizing was fun back then and it's still fun to talk about the show now. So I truly appreciated the dialogue and thinking about the show differently than I was naturally inclined. Greg made the day fun, often engaging us in conversation. He used his film experience at times to direct us in taking some quirky and memorable pictures. As we drove from place to place, he loved giving us trivia which in some ways gave me confidence in how well I knew the show. However, he did stump us several times. According to Greg, we were the only group ever in all the years he has run this tour that correctly named all ten Dharma stations from memory. So that's cool. We visited so many places throughout the day, too many to list. But some notables were Sacred Hearts Academy (Eloise's church), Santa Rosa, the Byodo-In Temple, several key beaches from the show, the waterfall at Waimea, and Camp Erdman (the Dharma Barracks). Visiting the Dharma Barracks was the highlight of my day, walking around those famous cabins and taking pictures. What struck me the most is how it still looks just like the show, only with the buildings painted blue. Greg brought us to Ted's Bakery for lunch which was a really nice stop and a much needed pause during the day. So, if you're considering this tour, don't worry about food. Whether you stop at Ted's Bakery or somewhere else, you'll have time to eat. Do I recommend KOS Tours for a great LOST experience? Absolutely. We had a wonderful trip overall, but I think we really saved the best for last. We enjoyed our time chatting with Greg and seeing the sites where so many amazing scenes were shot for such a legendary show. This LOST fan was not disappointed. And if you ever take the LOST tour and I see you in another life, don't be surprised if I pull a Jack and say, "Now you're like me." Namaste! read more

I scour reviews for hotels and tours to make sure it's going to be a good experience for our travels. Prior to booking the specific tour I had questions which were answered quickly upon emailing. We arranged to meet at a soot in Waikiki (hey shoppers pick a meetup at A La Moana so you can shop after your tour). We headed down the ramp and wondered how we would find him but it was pretty easy with a license plate that said Lost on a grey Dharma van! First, I had absolutely no idea that the tour would be conducted by an actor from the show! Greg was in several scenes filmed in HI for Lost and greeted us with a smile & promise of visiting many Lost sites. I won't list all the sites as they may be different for your tour, we wanted ours specifically focused on Lost. I am a huge Lost fan, my husband and teenager were ambivalent. Greg had tons of trivia which we were terrible at but it made it so much fun for all of us. I loved that the tour wasn't rushed, I was able to spend as much time at the beach and the temple as I wanted to reflect on how much the show meant to me. They were both emotional moments and I really appreciate being able to absorb the reality of being there. While I loved every site that we saw (penny's boat!) those two were the highlights for me. I binged Lost on hulu last year and was grateful that for every site we stopped at Greg had pictures of the scene on his iPad to remind us of what occurred there. He gave a very detailed explanation and we had discussions where appropriate. Don't forget, he was an actor in the show so he had a lot of personal input which I loved! My teen said that was his favorite part. Greg and this tour company are unique, there was no attempt to upsell or bring their own camera to sell us pictures afterwards. At every site Greg asked if I wanted a picture and even had some special magic shots for certain sites! I can't tell you or it would be a spoiler for your experience. Greg I still want tshirts when you create them! He even has a custom made CD of his favorite Lost music, which was a treat. This tour with Greg was without a doubt the highlight of our trip, he was incredibly knowledgeable about Hawaii and Lost which is exactly what we were looking for. Not a Lost fan? He has lived in Hawaii all his life and the tour would have been just as meaningful without the movie references. I only wish that we planned to come back again as I would book the Jacob lighthouse hike as well. I guess at some point I'll say "we have to go back!". You could certainly make a list of what you want to see and tour Oahu on your own but you don't get to have the same experience as having a native guide you through it. This tour was so much more than I was hoping for. We have talked about going to Hawaii for years, and when we finally made the decision to go, taking a Lost tour was a huge part of the scheduling/ decision-making. So my expectations were pretty high! Dave was our guide and we ended up having a private tour for the three of us (my husband, the true Lost fan, me [I did watch the whole series once through] and our 15-year-old son, whom we had forced to watch a few episodes. We all LOVED the tour. Dave is knowledgeable about so much about Oahu and Hawaii. Geology, history, flora & fauna... the tour was more than Lost, but Lost was definitely the centerpiece. The screencaps from the show set the stage, so we could really see/ remember the moments filmed in each spot. If you are a Lost fan, this tour will meet every expectation. If you're not into Lost, I suspect that their non-Lost circle tour is just as amazing. read more

I was super disappointed in this. It's like the host didn't even try to make it a 5 star experience. I have been a diehard lost fan since the show came out, I always wanted to go to Hawaii and see the places where it was filmed. The entire time, it felt like we were rushed from location to location, we hardly had a change to stop and take photos. The "hike" felt like a race, we couldn't even enjoy and explore the botanical garden. By the end, it felt like the host just wanted to get us home and end the day, so maybe the last hour of the "tour" was a quiet drive, passing a handful of iconic lost locations that even I knew about, without even so much of a mention. Sadly, this tour has somewhat ruined my love for lost. Thanks for nothing. read more

Awesome tour! We took the Circle Island Tour, and it was just my wife, our 5-year-old, and myself, as nobody else seemed to have booked the Circle Island Tour that day (a Tuesday). Our guide, Dave, is not only a very knowledgeable Lost fan, but he's also a very nice guy. He made us feel welcome and it wasn't awkward at all. Something I really liked is that you don't have to just trust he's right. He teaches you what's special about each location so that you can clearly spot it on screen, and doesn't leave you with the doubt of "could the scene have been filmed in some other random location that looks pretty much the same?". Overall, excellent experience. Highly recommended. PS: if you take the tour with a toddler and you're visiting the waterfall (highly recommended), take a stroller with you. We loved loved loved our Circle Island LOST tour!! You get to see soooo much of the island even a non-fan of Lost could enjoy the tour. Hawaii is so beautiful and this is a great way to soak it all in. Our tour guides were knowledgeable and funny, with one guide even rolling with having his vehicle consist of two kids and one person who hadn't seen Lost a great way to spend a day in Hawaii. Take the tour earlier in the week so you can go back to places you see along the way on another day. If you loved Lost you need the tour and even if you didn't, it's still worth it. read more

Take the all day tour - sooooo worth it. Dave was our guide for the day and we totally geeked out on our LOST tour. Four years ago, we did the yellow Hummer half day tour and we were super excited to return and explore the entire island this time (in a DHARMA VAN!). Of course, a lot of the sets have been removed, but it's still neat to see the filming locations. Also, the iPad that Dave brings to review scenes and make landscape comparisons is very helpful to showcase the magic of CGI. Highly recommend this excursion. read more

Our group of four had a fantastic time on our Circle Island tour this week! There was a vehicle issue that affected our original tour date; we were notified and asked if we could possibly reschedule to another date. We did so, and in exchange, received a personal tour, which we loved. Pick up was easy (right in our hotel's main lobby) and the car was a clean, well maintained, and spacious. My whole group agreed that the tour was more than worth the ticket price (it also includes admission to any of the locations you will see on the tour). You see major LOST filming locations in person along with stills from the series showing how the locations were used and in many cases altered. The tour website lists the locations you will see and we found this to be entirely accurate. You can take as much time at the locations as your group would like and pictures can generally be taken either from the car or on site depending on group preference; however, I would advise sticking with the tour guide's schedule to ensure you see everything. Finally, our tour guide Greg-- It would be an understatement to say our entire group loved this guy. His guidance and background knowledge of the show elevated this tour to another level. He knew things about the show I'd never heard from my days of watching it and the in-car trivia moments were fun. If you are lucky enough to get Greg as your tour guide, be sure to let him take pictures of your group (just go with it). If you are considering a tour, book with KOS Tours (if you have all day, choose the Circle Island tour) and be sure to tip your guide. read more

Our tour guide was David. He was great. Took us to all of the awesome locations you see in the show. He also knew a lot about the island. We learned so much and it was our last day! Was such a blast. Recommend this tour to any LOST fans, photographers, etc, and you will get to see the island in a new private way! If you aren't someone that likes big tours and having to compete to get your picture, choose these tours. You will love it! read more

I felt that the tour was overpriced. Based on the reviews we read before booking, we had hoped to learn more about the island of Oahu while experiencing our love of LOST firsthand. The tour did take us to several LOST locations, and there were photo ops. However, upon researching some of the information that our guide told us, I was very disappointed that he gave us incorrect information and facts on more than one occasion. I was also disappointed that too much time was spent talking about irrelevant information (such as which presidents are on which dollar bills). I would hope that for the price charged, one could expect to receive relevant and credible information. (As an aside, one of the members of our tour fell asleep during the last half hour of the tour.) I would not book again nor recommend. read more

I'm just going to say it: the top reason I wanted to visit Oahu was to take a Lost tour. I didn't have to go to Oahu. Maui and the Big Island were already scheduled. I voluntarily added Oahu at the front of my trip to become emerged in all things Dharma. After checking out reviews online and various people's blogs, Kos Tours came up repeatedly. I scheduled the 5-hour tour for my friend and I and was nervous if it would live up to my grandiose expectations. You can pick between 3 types of tours: 2-hour, 5-hour and 9-hour. The 9-hour goes around most of the island, specifically hitting up the beach scenes and the Others' camp. The 5-hour focuses on the jungle, with lots of the jungle scenes, Hurley's golf course and Jughead. I didn't really look into the 2-hour since I wanted to see something pretty substantial. After debating the cost with what we'd see, we selected the 5-hour tour that took off at 1pm (versus the other choice of 7am). We were picked up from our hotel (awesome perk) in a dirty, white Hummer. Scotty introduced himself and immediately began asking if we were Lost fans, how into it we were, and what our theories on Season 6 were. We picked up a middle-aged couple (D&D) and were soon off to the other side of the island. Actually, we got stuck in traffic for 45 minutes trying to go 5 blocks. THEN we were off to the other side of the island. We spent the majority of the day in the Kahana Valley State Park. It's privately owned and Kos is the only external group with a contract to roam the grounds. Let it be known: you're in a Hummer for a reason. There are no roads where we went (who am I... Doc from "Back to the Future?"). It was really bumpy for a while, so if you recently had butt surgery, DO NOT go on this tour. Whenever we saw a scene from Lost (or numerous other movies such as "50 First Dates," "Jurassic Park" or "Godzilla"), we would be shown either a movie clip or screenshot beforehand. Then when we arrived, we could compare the scene to what we just saw. Scotty was super informative and friendly. He gave us options on what we wanted to spend more time on. And he was laid back and never got annoyed with the traffic or if (when) we stopped to take ridiculous amounts of photos. We did stop somewhere in the middle for a bathroom/drink break, but no food or drinks are included in the 5-hour tour (only the 9-hour one). So if you get the grumblies in the afternoon like I do, pack some snacks! Overall, great experience. I wish there was more of an option to include some of the beach scenes or some combination of both in one tour... but I wouldn't let that hold you back. Get Lost with Kos. read more

I took the 8 hour "Lost" tour and it was nice... but I guess I wanted more. There were six of us in the van. I came solo. There was a girl from Minneapolis, a couple from Ireland and a couple from Texas. Considering how tight the group was, I was hoping our guide (Matt? Mike?) would do some sort of icebreaker thing. I mean, I was about to spend the next eight hours with these people. It would have been more fun if we knew each other a little. In the absence of introductions, I was hoping there would be almost wall-to-wall commentary so I didn't feel like I was on a long, awkward road trip. In truth, there was a lot of silence. I kept spitting out questions to try to make the drive a little less boring. Eventually, I ran out. And as great as Michael Giacchino's score is, it's not really the best driving music. Our first stop was Paradise Park - a shut-down bird park where they had the Orchid Station, Kate & Sawyer's cages and the Temple. Pretty cool. We stopped just long enough to see the pier where Michael betrayed Sawyer, Kate, Jack and Hurley. But we saw it from a long, long distance. We couldn't walk on it? We ate dinner at Ted's Bakery, where we were advised to eat the chocolate haupia (coconut) pie. Pretty good. Nothing mind-blowing. We hiked up to the waterfall where Kate & Sawyer went swimming for the gun case - also where Kate, Jack & Hurley landed on their return. It's Waimea Valley Falls. Very pretty. You could swim in it if you wanted, but we only had about 15-20 minutes to stay. On the way out of the falls, you pass the banyan tree where the drug plane landed. They shot the Pearl Station hatch scenes right there - covering the parking lot with palm fronds and dirt. But we only saw this from the van. Couldn't get out and look around or take pictures. We saw the Survivors' beach from seasons 2 on. (Papa'iloa Beach.) This was probably the highlight. We were given lots of time to walk around and take pictures. Ben's grave was still dug out. I was most excited to go to Mokule'ia (Army Beach). That's the beach where they shot the pilot and all the beach scenes of season one. Unfortunately, the tides had eaten away most of the beach during my visit. And we weren't given any time to walk around. We spent ten minutes there, tops. We also stopped at Camp Erdman - The Others' Camp. This was also a cool stop. You have to pay $5 to the YMCA to walk around on the property. Our guide told us which cabin was whose. And then it was a long, long, long drive back to Honolulu. I'm happy I got to see those sites, but I did expect more for $145. Now that you know where these things are, you can see most of them on your own. (I think Paradise Park may not be open to the public, but lots of people were parking there and paying the attendant.) If you are a movie/TV fan and want to see and recognize filming locations, then these tours will be awesome and will be a 5-star experience for you. If you are not a big TV/film fan, then this can still be a 4-star experience. You truly cannot appreciate the beauty of Oahu without leaving Waikiki and seeing some of the beautiful landscapes and beaches that this tour will introduce you to. You'll get to drive through some private areas on the Kualoa Ranch which have some amazing valleys and views and recognize films that were filmed there. Other bonuses were that we saw so many sea turtles feasting on algae on the LOST survivor's beach. The other huge benefit for those staying in Waikiki without wanting to rent-a-car is that they will pick you up from your hotel and drive you around to other parts of the island. There are several tours available to choose from and only a few have overlapping sites. I took both the 5 hour and 8 hour tours (can you tell I'm a big LOST fan) on separate days with only 1 overlapping location, and both tours were excellent. The guides are great and very knowledgeable and appreciate your questions. read more

It was a great experience to get to know most of the island with a Lost show theme :) it's a great way to visualize the distances between places and to plan to came back where you would like to explore more during your trip. Dave was SO informative about all locations that we visited/ stopped to take pictures. He was also very kind to take family photos of us. We really appreciate his patience waiting for us to take masks off as we posed for the photos :) We learned and remembered a lot not just about our beloved show Lost but also about Oahu as a whole. He was absolutely on time not only on pick up / drop off , but communicating with him was great and a breeze, by email or phone, fast and helpful. Wow, wow, wow. One of the best experiences of my life. Where to start? I'll start with our tour guide, Greg, who was exceptional. Greg was a delight in every way. He is extremely knowledgeable about all things LOST, and Oahu itself. We did the Circle Island Plus tour, and saw nearly every filming location there was to see and a few extras. Along the way, Greg asked us all sorts of trivia questions which were among the highlights of the day. I learned so much more about my favorite show from Greg, something I didn't think was possible. We were on our tour from 7 am to 5 pm, a 10 hour day of great conversations and never a dull moment. When the tour ended, I felt I had made a friend in Greg after sharing this incredible day and learning so much from him. I took the tour with my son, a 16 year old moody teenager who is a LOSTIE in his own right, and he engaged him and made sure he had a great time also, no easy task. At one point I slipped and fell and hurt myself and Greg made sure I was okay and helped apply first aid. I won't ruin surprises Greg tosses in about himself and LOST throughout the tour but he is just awesome. I can go on about Greg but will get to the tour itself. (But seriously, ask for Greg! He's the best!!!) OMG, a LOSTIE'S dream day. We saw the marina where Desmond and Penny take their infamous picture (my favorite character is Desmond and this was such a treat!! "I love you Penny!"), Hurley's parents house, the church where the group "moves on", The Survivor's beach camp and the original site of the plane crash where the pilot was shot, Eko's Nigerian village, the tree where Yemi's Beechcraft is, Byodo Temple where Sun and Jin got married (be careful! I slipped on rocks near a pond and took a serious tumble!), the rocks where Desmond and Calvin have a scuffle and the finale LockevJack battle takes place, Dharmaville (my favorite!!!!!! Incredible!!!), Hurley's mental institution, and various other locations. This tour no longer includes access to the ranch where Hugo's golf course is, so if you're wanting to see this site please book a separate tour. The ranch owners do not allow third parties. No pictures I share can possibly do justice to seeing THE ISLAND and it's majesty with your own eyes. If you're a true LOST fan, this is a must do when visiting Oahu. I wanted the day to go on forever. Spring for the Circle Island Plus tour if you can afford it. It's the best investment I've made on a vacation, ever. I will never see my favorite show the same way again. I hope you're able to make memories with your loved ones that are as special as the ones I made with my son today! No doubt the best tour of Oahu I've ever been on. My family and I are huge lost fans! Dave gave us the best tour that showcased not only most of the Lost filming locations, but also some Hawaii 5-0 (I was the only one interested in this) spots too! Dave was also extremely knowledgeable about Hawaiian history and was able to answer almost any question regarding just about anything related to culture and the nature. We did the 2 hour Lost tour. It was so much fun!! We are big Lost fans. It was really neat to see all the film sites, and even more that that, it was so beautiful! I wish we would have taken the full day tour. If we go back to Oahu, we will. The owner was the one who took us on this tour. He was so nice-- and knowledgeable. It was worth every penny! Even if you arn't a big fan of Lost, you would enjoy this tour. They have other movie sites like Jurassic Park, and Godzilla and others. The beauty of the areas you drive though in that hummer is worth it alone. I couldn't believe some of the terrain we went over in that hummer! Amazing! So, book your tour if you will be visiting Oahu. It's the best thing we did on the island! read more

If you are a LOST fan, you must do this tour! It's awesome. There are many stops of LOST scenes and trivia. Our tour guide was Scotty and he was incredibly knowledgable and very friendly. He is a big fan of the show, so it makes the whole experience even more fun. It was fascinating to visit the LOST sites and see how the scenes were put together. We went on the 5 hour tour which covered a lot of ground. Much of the tour was in the Kualoa ranch riding around in the hummer. I would consider taking some motion sickness meds prior to if you get car sick because it's a bumpy ride through there. It was so beautiful, I felt like we had really visited the island. It was also cool to see the filming locations of movies in the ranch. It was worth it to go on the tour. A must for all losties out there! read more

Super Dave and I are huge Lost-aholics so when we started planning our Oahu vacation we knew we had to do a Lost tour. After a little research, we decided to go with the 10-hour tour with Kos Tours. The tour group itself was limited to four so we were stoked about getting a personalized experience, rather than being herded along with a bus load of people. Our guide, Ricardo, picked us up at our hotel promptly at 7:50 AM and then we made one more hotel stop to pick up the other couple on the tour. The other couple was Austrian and though they chatted mostly with each other in German, they were fun. For instance, I can now say "The Others" in German. (Die Anderen) Though the 10-hour tour does not include the locations on the Kualoa Ranch, it does include the locations for: the Orchid, the Others' Temple, the "Korean" temple where Jin and Sun where married, the plane crash beach (including Ben's open grave site), the survivors' beach, "Nigeria," New Otherton and lots of other ocean-side stops along the way. At one point on the tour, someone asked us if we felt like we were getting our money's worth and I have to say that we did. Lost aside, we got a 10-hour, fairly personal tour of the north, south and east sides of Oahu. It was time and money well spent. read more

When booking this tour, my GF and I had the expectations of seeing the Lost television series locations. What we got was the best experience we could have every asked for. Greg was an amazing tour guide who is actually in the show!! He provided trivia and insight throughout full-circle island tour and kept us entertained throughout!
