If you can't get a reservation at KOL, I highly recommend the mezcaleria! We were only able to get a reservation late one Saturday evening while we were in town, but it was worth the late visit. Now I just hope I can visit the restaurant next time I'm in town as well!
- Atmosphere: We walked passed KOL not even realizing that was where we were going and noted how nice it looked. Once we realized that was our stop, we went downstairs to the mezcaleria. It feels like you're at a bar in Tulum with lots of greenery. There is a bar and some tables spread throughout the small space.
- Service: Our server was kind and knowledgeable. We enjoyed chatting with him throughout the evening and he provided good guidance on the menu.
- Food/Drink: The cocktail menu is organized by flavor profile with half mezcal drinks and half drinks with other spirits. I started with the lowball and ended with the hot & cold, which is the perfect after dinner drink. Food wise, two of us shared the guacamole, quesadilla, a special wagyu tostada, and the churro. We had a light dinner before, so this was the right amount of food for us. The beef on the tostada was definitely the standout, but everything was delicious.
- Value: For a top tier restaurant, I found the mezcaleria to be very reasonably priced. The cocktails are special and range from £15-16. The food portions are smaller, but there are quite a few items under £10. If you're looking for a more affordable way to experience the magic of KOL, this is a great option! read more
