My husband and I had the best date. We wanted a different experience other than dinner & a movie. Ray, our guide taught us so much about horses, lineage, and the tribal land we were traveling through on our horses, Billy and Heather. We learned to brush them, the importance of brushing them, how to saddle them properly, how to place the bridle on, mount them and guide them. The views during the ride were magnificent, it was tranquil and the natural environment seemed like it was giving us a big hug. All the staff at Koli were warm, helpful, and provided good information. Again, Ray was the BEST guide! Go ahead and book your ride and experience the time of your life!!!

Ray and Dr. Love (Matt) were both very helpful in making the whole experience during our horseback riding at sunset with margaritas special. We all have not had been horse back riding in a few years and had a great time! Ray and future Dr. Love were great in easing our nerves by making jokes and talking to us about the horses and history of KOLI. Truly, it was such a fantastic experience. If you're staying at the Sheraton and have the time to do something. Choose a horse riding experience at KOLI. You will not be disappointed.

Our guides were amazing and the trail was fun! We did an hour and half ride, before leaving they make sure you feel comfortable on the horse before leaving. One thing I would say is make sure to check the weather before as it was very hot when we went

The wild horses with some of their fowl actually get really close, which I found to be a beautiful surprise.

Our visit to Koli was the most pleasant ride I have been on in a long time. The landscape is as beautiful as the people who own/work here on the land. I love the knowledge our tour guide had and finding out more about the people indigenous to this area. I love that the tours are run by many of the local Native Americans as it was important to me to learn some local culture, and you can tell they take pride in all that they offer. Our guide Ray is a genuinely wonderful person to be around. I feel the horses were we suited to each riders needs as the ride went smoothly. I originally booked for the 90 min group ride but was thoughtfully upgraded to the private trails. I highly recommend choosing the private ride if it is in your budget it is truly worth it. I do not have one negative thing to say about our experience.

Everything went well. From our arrival, Ray was kind and attentive. He was knowledgeable and great to get to know during our tour. I would recommend the morning ride to any level of horse experience, from first time rider to experienced riders.

Ray and Matt lead our casual horseback (and a mule) ride as guides lead us through the mesquite trees and many other desert plants, shrubs, cacti and wildlife on the trail. The wranglers were very helpful and even had some creative storytelling. Would recommend and come back!

What a great place to enjoy some cool horses and nice folks that handle and take care of them. Checked out the morning ride and it was so serene on the desert watching the sun come up. They have all sorts of rides and activities and have a great website that makes it all easy. From start to finish the process is smooth with very nice people interacting with you along the way. I definitely want to try their margarita sunset ride when the weather gets cooler. Loved loved loved this experience! Go check it out if you love horses! If you are at Wild Horse Pass they will come get you which is cool.

What an amazing Margarita ride! The staff were incredible, horses were beautiful and well kept. This is a must do if you're in the area. G&K

At the end of the ride we both were filled with gratitude and joy.

While we were in the area we both took a group tour. My son loves all animals and was SUPER excited to ride a horse for the first time. The wranglers were absolutely amazing! They're very skilled and humorous, they kept an eye on everyone and made sure we stayed together and safe. They definitely know the land every part of it. Worth every penny and more. We plan to go again for sure! We enjoyed being with a group. But I think next time a private one would be better. It's worth a few extra dollars just to have the experience. But my son won't stop talking about his horse "Rico". He's in LOVE with that horse. (I told you he loves animals.)

I was researching on what to do for my Phoenix foodie weekend while my food is digesting and horseback riding came up! I was like yee-haw why not? Koli came up as top of the list on Yelp and I booked online a Friday night Sunset and Margarita in Jan 2023. We arrived about 15 minutes before our ride. I noticed the worker did tell one girl to changed her high heel cowgirl boots (about 2 inches?) into tennis shoes for safety reasons. If you opt out of a helmet you do have to sign a waiver. After some very basic instruction, then off to a horse we go. All the horses are very well behaved and trained to do their sunset walk. I thought we had a pretty big group maybe about 20+ horses. But mid ride another group of about 10 girls (clearly for a Bachelorette) joined us and we became a gigantic group. But all the horses are pretty spread out, and we were welcome to go to the front as well to our guide. The guides does warn you to not to use your phone while riding, that they will help you take pictures at the end. That part was not the truth, they take horrible pictures and only 2 shots. (This is the reason for the one star knocked off) Because they were in a hurry to get us off the horses and put them back into the barn. We had to ask the worker to re-take for us and still it came out just okay. So just use your phone very carefully and with caution during your ride if you want more pictures and videos. The sunset was lovely and at the end chips, salsa and margarita was waiting for us. It was a nice experience to end a Friday night in Phoenix.

10/10 experience. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I did the sunset & margarita ride and had such a beautiful ride. The horses are well taken care of which is very important to me when I look for these types of activities.

We were in town for a girls weekend, staying at Gila River Casino Wild Horse Pass. Went online to find something fun/different to do. Found Koli Equestrian. They have a sunset ride that starts at 6p. It also includes Margaritas, chips and salsa after the ride. This was so fun and a nice change to the normal busy running around most people typically do on a weekend trip. The weather was very hot, but once we started riding, it was so much cooler and we didn't even notice the heat. Ben was our guide. He was so nice and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the Reservation and made us feel so warm and welcome. He told us all about our horses, helped us get up on the horse (which wasn't a easy thing for early 40 something women with no step stools or elevated steps). It was fun and light hearted. We laughed a lot, learned so much and really had a great time. While riding he told us so much about his home, stories about the Reservation and all the amazing people who live in the wonderful pace. At the end of our ride, Ben made us some very good margaritas and served them with some chips and salsa. A perfect ending to a great evening. Everyone come see Ben and make sure to tip him WELL. He is so fun and will make your ride memorable.

It's been about 3 years since my Girl Scout troop came to this ranch (see my previous review). Since then my kiddo and I have taken classes at the ranch and we both became volunteers at the ranch. We come to this ranch about as often as we can. The owners make it a point to make everyone feel like family! This IS our family now!!! Aside from the joys of the ranch, my kiddo has advanced riding skills so much that my kiddo has participated in the Black Rodeo, Competitive Horsemanship and Riding and trail rides. Like my kiddo, experienced students at the ranch can participate in parades, shows, and more as volunteers representing the ranch too! If you'd like the same opportunities, you just need to saddle up and start your horsemanship journey, or expand it, at the RR! And, For the person who wrote that they called and no one answered... keep in mind, this ranch runs off of its volunteers. There is a limited paid staff and a small army of volunteers who support RR. This ranch serves as a large animal rescue. This ranch is a place of escape for victims of a variety of situations and this ranch services folks with a variety of physical, emotional and mental needs---- on top of the herd of horses, goats, pigs and dogs that live there. THERE WILL BE MOMENTS WHERE ACTIVITIES ON THE RANCH TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER ANSWERING THE PHONE. Please, be gentle and understanding. Call back, leave a message and give grace. This hike in particular is around 3.1 miles (based on my watch :) AllTrails says it's an even 3.0 miles) from beginning of the trailhead back to the trailhead. The parking lot at the trailhead has 26 spots with two of them being handicap parking. By 6 AM the lot was full and there were a lot of cars parked on the streets before the no parking signs. Following the AllTrails review we started counter-clockwise (right) at around 6 AM. The ascent was pretty steep for the first 1.2 miles since there is a 1000-ft elevation gain to the top. However once you reach the top it becomes more flat and gets a bit easier. The only hard parts once you've reached the top are the big rocks you either have to climb up or down to get back on the trail. During these parts we usually had to also use our hands. After that it was a slow descent to the bottom (some parts of the descent were a bit gravelly so be careful not to slip)! Once you hit around 2.3 miles you'll see a sign that splits off the trail to either continue the Hau'Pal loop and head to the parking lot or head to Crosscut loop (according to AllTrails this one is a 4.6 mile loop). We continued on to finish the Hau'Pal loop. Overall we finished the hike in about 1.5 hours moving at a moderate pace. We started around 6 AM and finished before 8 AM. It does get pretty hot halfway through the hike since it was summer so be sure to bring enough hydration and sunscreen or start the hike earlier!!! There are still a lot of people starting the hike after 8 AM so as long as you're properly prepared you should be good! :) This hike can be hard for those who are not used to more steep inclines or declines. The first 1.2 miles up can be strenuous since it is a 1000-ft climb. But there are some shaded spots along the trail from the rocks that you can rest up near! So just be sure to take your time and be careful! There are also currently a lot of bees swarming the water fountain at the trailhead and even during the hike; around every .20 miles we would have bees buzzing around us. If you're not comfortable with bees or allergic, I would suggest avoiding this hike for now.
