It's been about 3 years since my Girl Scout troop came to this ranch (see my previous review). Since then my kiddo and I have taken classes at the ranch and we both became volunteers at the ranch. We come to this ranch about as often as we can. The owners make it a point to make everyone feel like family! This IS our family now!!! Aside from the joys of the ranch, my kiddo has advanced riding skills so much that my kiddo has participated in the Black Rodeo, Competitive Horsemanship and Riding and trail rides. Like my kiddo, experienced students at the ranch can participate in parades, shows, and more as volunteers representing the ranch too! If you'd like the same opportunities, you just need to saddle up and start your horsemanship journey, or expand it, at the RR! And, For the person who wrote that they called and no one answered... keep in mind, this ranch runs off of its volunteers. There is a limited paid staff and a small army of volunteers who support RR. This ranch serves as a large animal rescue. This ranch is a place of escape for victims of a variety of situations and this ranch services folks with a variety of physical, emotional and mental needs---- on top of the herd of horses, goats, pigs and dogs that live there. Went for a 60 min intro to horsemanship session and the experience was wonderful. I was nervous but Sheila and John reassured me along the way. They showed me how to groom, lead, and get atop Kachina. The experience of learning about horses and connecting with them with such patient teachers makes me want to go back. I highly recommend the intro class because not only are the horses well cared for but Sheila and John's love and knowledge of horses was awe inspiring. I'm not from Arizona, I was visiting for in person classes but they've made me want to learn more about horsemanship. And hopefully continue in a ranch near me. read more

Robinson Ranch is tucked away on the side of the mountain in a quiet little suburban neighborhood. Pulling up, you wouldn't expect it to be as massive as it is, but first impressions mean nothing before you step through its gates. Robinson Ranch is owned and operated by Mr. Robinson, who teaches riding classes, hosts therapy sessions, and hosts riding clubs that partake in activities from parades, funerals, and I'm also pretty positive civil war reenactments. The ranch is large and they have over 20 horses (several who were loaned/borrowed out at the time I visited). They also had pigs, sheep (I saw 3 that were born the same day, so cute!), and other animals you'd expect to find on a farm. Each type of animal had a clean enclosure with plenty of food and water and a great amount of space. People who treat animals properly are the people you want to support. Mr. Robinson has a gang of volunteers that help in every aspect of the ranch and he is always looking for more. If I lived in the area I would definitely sign up. He screens every applicant and has every volunteer do orientation. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this ranch. You should look them up if you're in the area and want to take a riding class or join a riding club. read more

My Husband surprised me with a horse riding Lesson for my Birthday and there's no mistaking Robinson Ranch was the perfect place for us! I not only walked away from the experience learning how to ride a horse , but there was time giving to teaching me how to groom the horse and detailed safety tips on how to understand how the horses like to be handled. We both walked away knowing much more about horses than we anticipated and we're so grateful! On top of that the staff was absolutely amazing! John and his wife Sheila were such a beautiful and welcoming couple. And Christi was such a sweet and awesome person to work with. They made my first experience one I won't forgot. My mom and I did the 60-minute intro to Horsemanship class at Robinson Ranch recently and it did not disappoint! It was very interesting to learn the actual care that goes into prepping the horses prior to gearing them up and going for a ride. Our instructor as well as the owner were very informational and walked us through everything step-by-step. They explained all the other services they offer through Robinson Ranch and I will definitely be taking advantage of them soon in the future! read more

A birthday surprise class for my 7-year-old turned into summer camps and a future of lessons. Sheila and John were amazing at engaging her and explaining many aspects of care for a horse from safety to grooming and, of course, riding. Smiles abounded and their ability to connect with her showed their true gifts of meeting a kid where they are at. From the mo I can't imagine a more perfect birthday surprise and I look forward to her riding in the future with them. That truly was not my intent but the experience made it a must-have. Love this place! I took part in 6 private horse therapy sessions. The staff at Robinson Ranch challenged me both physically and mentally, while making it fun and interesting. I tried to scedural a horseback riding lesson and Groupon and this place did not say anything about it being a special needs place so they won't let me ride and there like duh we have to get a shrink to evaluate me wtf I have ridden a horse and I was a pro at it and these people are like duh you have Aspergers nope and Groupon also won't give me my money back and they won't either they like not honoring their service with me !! I just want to ride a horse but they won't let me and they're telling me to take a 6-week course and that I have to get up at 5 am wtf no !! read more

Although I don't have another one to compare it to, I can tell you that my experience here was top notch! You get individual attention to make sure you're comfortable before even getting on the horse. They go through all steps from grooming the horse ahead of time to how to properly get off the horse and everything in between. The horses are well trained and very easy to ride. I would definitely recommend attending riding lessons here if you're a beginner. read more

We came back this past weekend with my daughter's Girl Scout troop for a little fun and to earn their horse riding patch. This place absolutely blew our expectations out of the water!! The girls had classroom time, then grooming and etiquette, then riding. And there's was plenty of other things to see and do while we were there (a playground, a dog, ponies, a cat, a pig, goats, ducks, oh my!) The owners and volunteers are all so sweet and patient. And I know they offer plenty of camps and classes that we can take advantage of individually, as well. What a hidden gem... We hope to have another opportunity to go back! read more

the lack of professionalism we received was very disappointing. i purchased a one hour private horseback riding lesson groupon for my daughter as a surprise to celebrate her promotion to second grade. i scheduled the lesson a month in advance. once we arrived early in the morning we were immediately advised we had to reschedule. we did not receive the courtesy of a phone call for the cancellation. we wasted time, gas, and money. along with my daughter's surprise being ruined. read more

The Robinson Ranch is awesome. I was able to speak to Hailey and John about taking engagement photos with one of their horses. Not only did they allow me to do so they were very professional, compassionate and caring. I've passed by this ranch since I was a little girl and I never knew they offered so many services such as horse riding lessons, equine therapy and horse etiquette, which I thought was awesome because I'm in the behavioral health field myself and refer clients to equine therapy all the time. I'm excited that I can now refer my clients directly to Robinson Ranch. After learning about my background, John offered me the opportunity to be a volunteer at the ranch which I'm very excited about. The horses are well trained and John and Hailey are both super knowledgeable. He allowed us to use three horses for our engagement shoot, allowed us to use his RV to change clothes, he gave us cool props to use for our photos, he took us up to South Mountain and found beautiful locations to take our pictures, one spot overlooking the entire city. He had brilliant ideas for pics. The entire morning was pretty awesome!! The experience was phenomenal and service exceptional. I don't think I could've got that type of customer service from any place else. I know my engagement photos are going to be beautiful. read more
