I will state I wasn't a huge fan of the dumplings or white bread I got with my dish, but willing to chalk that up to personal preference. Only downside is the noise level. Good menu with variety of options for appetizers and main dishes. I got pickled cheese to share, it was not bad. Just an enjoyable place to get some authentic Czech food. Service was quick and friendly and portions were nice and big. Well worth heading over for a bite! This is the first time in my life that I have not tipped a server. We had a large party and do not speak much Czech and had this in mind while dining so we entered being as polite as possible and thankful that they had a reservation for our group. Our server was very inattentive the whole time but we wrote this off due to us being a large group at first. Our food came about 40 minutes after we ordered which is understandable for a larger group. My food never came so about 20 minutes after the rest of my group got there food I tried to get the attention of a staff member to make sure there wasn't a mix up in the kitchen. I tried to get our waiters attention for about 15 minutes, he passed our table at least 10 times without so much as a glance in our direction. Eventually I got him to make eye contact with me and said excuse me twice and he walked right passed us. He only asked us what we needed once we got the attention of his other coworker. There was in fact a mix up in the kitchen, which is again totally understandable for a large group but it took us two hours to get our food because our server was continually ignoring us. I ended up having to take my whole meal to go because the rest of my group had their plates cleared long before I was served. read more

They have a great indoor vibe and an outdoor patio, works for families, dates and fun with friends. The beers are impressive and the blend of both floating on top of each other (dark and gold lagers) was surprisingly great! They have an English menu and the staff is great with understanding allergies. Possibly the best goulash was had here, very unique touches that represent the region. Our waitstaff explained the purpose of the raw garlic clove that was lost at first sight on us- changed and elevated the way the dish and sides worked. The desserts were fantastic. I chose 4 stars because we did not have food here. We drank beers here a few times during our stay in Prague and the service is really good and this is a terrific place for people watching. The leg of goose was excellent and served with cabbage and dumplings. The gravy was delicious. The menu was extensive and my bride had the beef goulash which she enjoyed very much. It was fine. This is a small chain of Prague restaurants I guess that feel a bit like some of the pseudo-pub chains from the states. But a nice feeling I guess. My first proper lunch in Prague with colleagues. This spot was very conveniently located right in the plaza next to our office building. We opened with a pilsner urquell and had a beef consume and steak with gravy, bacon, and potatoes. The main was super tasty with the steak pretty tender, the potatoes roasted til crispy on the outside and tender within. The rich gravy and bacon brought it all together. This is by far one of my favorite places to visit when in Prague. Over the last 15yrs I've been coming to Prague this restaurant never lets me down. This is located in near the powder gate and features great Czech cuisine and great beer! I ordered the Kolkovna platter which is a large portion of meat along with three different dumplings, cabbage and sauerkraut. It is so tasty and filling along with a large pivo. I didn't realize, from reading the reviews, that local hotels recommend this establishment. I walked past it when going to the Communist museum next door last week. the place was pretty full on a Monday afternoon but no line to get in. I asked the girl upfront if they had a place for one person and she took me to a table inside. A pretty big menu. I ordered a medium (500ml Pilsner, and a vepřový řízek ( a pork breaded schnitzel) which comes with a side of potato salad. It's one of my favorites and I've had it all over Prague in addition to other Czech staples. This one was a bit on the dry side.but good portion size. I found the service good, efficient for such a busy restaurant. The food was delivered pretty quickly. Different people took my order, cleared my table and took my payment. All very efficient. This place was recommended by our hotel. We wanted to get authentic local food and this place seemed like a good choice. They had large selection on their menu but we settled on Czech specialty platter and roast beef entree. They both came with dumplings. The platter was very large, probably enough for two people to share. However, the duck was dry and didn't have much flavor. The pork was dry too (almost like jerky texture). The dumplings reminded me of mashed up thanksgiving stuffing. The roast beef was decent though. Overall, not very impressed with food here. The service was terribly slow also. We had to call on our waitress several times. I asked for change to leave a tip because they credit card payment didn't give me an option to add tip. We went to this restaurant twice during our 2 days stay in Czech Republic :P First day their service was excellent...our server (I think his name was Lucas) was very attentive and caring. He even brought couple of books for our little one when he noticed how restless she was while waiting for the food, even after being busy. They have so many different meat options to choose from. We have tried their leg of goose, roast duck, grilled beefsteak, roast salmon, grilled veal and svickova dishes...all were delicious! We wanted a quick but delicious dinner on our last night in Prague because we were so exhausted. The hotel recommended this place because it was very close. To start, there was a long line waiting outside, so we figured it was popular. Turns out there is only a long line because they don't take names like they do in every other restaurant. You just stand in the line and wait for someone to leave and then they seat the next group. Once we were finally seated, we were ignored for a very long time. We had to wave people down each time we wanted to order food or more drinks. This is another reason there was a long time. Because they aren't paying attention to who needs what. After awhile we noticed most of the waiters were at the bar drinking. No one was even working! The food was just ok. Not the best schnitzel, not the best steak tartare, and not the best sausages. The meat in the goulash was more fat than actual meat. Finally, when the bill came, (we paid with credit card) we asked where we leave a tip and the waiter told us that his manager only wants cash tips. So guess what! No tip then. We would've at least left a small tip for the horrible service, but then they requested cash. No, bye. read more

I dragged everyone here because I wanted an authentic Czech food experience. Because, seriously, we are in Prague - what better place to get Czech food? As expected, the items on the menu tend heavy and meaty. Potato pancakes are a staple (they have the consistency like a Chinese mantou), as are goulash, roasts and stews. We visited in the dead of summer, so yeah, maybe it wasn't the best idea. The lamb chops looked amazing, but my goulash wasn't shabby either. It was hearty, tender, with a hint of chile peppers. It worked, even though it wasn't the best goulash in the world. The sides were a bit on the bland side, but I just ate it all with the stew, which worked out well. Of course, service is slow as hell, and sometimes it's hard to get the waiters to understand non-Czech speakers. But ah well, it didn't really offend. I'm sure there are better places than some touristy chain, but this delivers and would give you a good variety of Czech food to taste. read more

They are a local Czech cuisine restaurant but it seems to be one of the only places my husband and I could find that had kozel dark on draft. FYI beer is crazy cheap and it seems to me that people here drink beer rather than water with their meal. We got the ribs (too dry) the wings (best thing with a cold glass of beer), the salmon tartar (nothing special) and the pork knuckle. The only worth mentioning in detail is the park knuckle. It's really big and fatty and it could easily feed two to three people by itself. The oily fat makes my mouth feel weird but the beer washes it down so the pair works quite well. The wings were like a traditional BBQ wings and it came with a corn and some chips as well. All this came to be less than 40 usd which is crazy amount of food and we both got 2 L of beer!!
