The food and ambience were just what we needed in our last night in Prague. Short walk from hotel, beautiful evening great service. We wanted a light dinner before bed and early rise to head back to the states. The beef goulash and chicken soup were fab. Just like my Slovenian mom and i make. I ordered the Svíčková as it is a family favorite that my grandmother used to ok make. The food was out quickly and had a great taste. The dumplings were moist and flavorful. I was there was about 50% more beef, though. The meal left me feeling mostly full, but still wanting something more. The ginger lemonade was an interesting drink. It was not too sweet and the ginger gave it just a bit of a bite. The bar tender had cut a couple of slices off of a ginger root as a garnish. That was a nice touch. read more

Wow! What an amazing meal! First of all, we shared an appetizer of bacon dumplings, a play on traditional Czech bread dumplings. They were unreal. The chanterelle and bacon sauce was PERFECTLY seasoned, not too salty at all. Just magical perfection. My sister also got the porcini mushroom soup with kale, rice, peas, and bacon. OMG it was also really wonderful! Super comforting, and just perfectly executed. I'm needing these recipes! My fried pork schnitzel was great. It was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, served with a unique cold potato and apple salad made with onions and sour cream in place of mayo. My sister's pork tenderloin with potato au gratin and buttered pea pods had a similar chanterelle mushroom sauce as the bacon dumplings, and was amazing. I tasted my dining companion's deer loin served with marrowbone, mushroom ragout, potato latkes, and strong venison sauce. It was also quite splendid. With one bite alone I was in awe. My other dining companion opted for a local favorite, the roasted piglet knee with potato puree, and red onion with thyme honey on the side. I didn't taste it, but he said the meat was extremely tender! For dessert we made the mistake of sharing the caramel profiterole. When I said it was a mistake, I mean it was a mistake to SHARE. We should have said "to hell with our full stomachs!" and ordered individual profiteroles. That profiterole was clutch! Holy cow! One of the best desserts I've ever had. I tried the potato soup that was served over chantrelle mushrooms and a poached egg. It was delicious, and not heavy! Today we have been to Tiskarna restaurant, something we always wanted to try and always heart nice things about. Unfortunately, it was a HUGE disappointment! He have ordered the mushroom soup which didn't contain a single mushroom and was more a stew than anything else. As a starter we also had the selection of sausages. This was ok taste wise but there were a lot of nasty pieces in the sausages which really was disgusting. You can expect such a bad quality when you buy a klobasa at a stall at Mustek but not in a restaurant. As a main dish we had the beef balls, goulash and veal roll. The beef balls came with frozen vegetables and were full of chewy bits. The goulash was ok. Unfortunately, the veal rolls (španělsky ptáček) were very disappointing:dry and chewy meat and tasteless filling. All in all this experience made us very unhappy and we will definitely not come back. read more

My family traveled to a few countries in Europe and this place was a great introduction to Czech cuisine! I liked all the food we got but my main order was the piglet knee. It's so soft that it pretty much melts in your mouth! The potato purée and red onion it came with balanced the taste very well.
