First off, we don't own a dog or any pets but, that didn't stop us from noticing this Dog Park in…read moreour Kaka'ako neighborhood. We took notice of its soft opening on January 31, 2020, as we were just next door at the Mother Waldron Neighborhood Park while out on our daily walk. We returned on February 7th to watch its Grand Opening ceremony. Secondly, I wondered about how this off-leash dog park would accommodate different sized dogs and energy levels (much like how the Mother Waldron Park separates children's' activities from the older junior ages and adults) since this dog park is nearly 8,000 square foot swath of land in between Mother Waldron Park's basketball courts and the walkway by Fisher Hawaii on Pohukaina Street. The rectangular-shaped dog park doesn't have a water fountain or separate areas for small or large dogs. Although there are signs posted with rules for the safety of your furry friend or family member and owner and hours of operation along the chain link fence entrance. There should be poop bags available so dog owners should make sure to pick up after their dog. If there's none, I would think that most responsible dog owners carry spare plastic bags. I hope to see more dogs and their human parents spending more time outdoors even during these difficult COVID times. Social distancing between humans is encouraged and maybe even between the furry friends (just in case of possible animal transmission). Maybe we'll see you there as we pass by or stop to vicariously enjoy watching the dogs frolic in this park.

It is a pretty decent size, only thing is there isn't a separation between big and small dogs but my dog is fine with playing with bigger dogs. There are two entrances one by Pohukaina St and one towards the middle of the park. The area can be a little muddy and there isn't a water fountain so please remember to bring water for your pups.

The park is spacious, has great views, and is a popular place for dogs to socialize and burn off energy. Most of the dog owners are friendly and attentive, which creates a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. It's clear why this park is such a favorite for locals. That said, cleanliness is an area that could really use improvement. On several visits, there has been noticeable dog waste left behind, along with overflowing or poorly maintained trash areas. This takes away from an otherwise great experience and can be unpleasant for both dogs and owners. With more consistent cleaning and better enforcement of waste pickup, this park could easily be one of the best dog parks around. It has so much potential, and a little extra care would go a long way.

Its been a hit or miss. Some days the dog owners are great respectful, responsible and watch their dogs well....other times owners come here and let their dogs go and don't pick up their poop which ruins it for everyone! Please be responsible and watch your dog if you come and i dont recommend dog parks if your dog is not friendly it can be dangerous for others. I do love coming here after the KCC farmers market so convenient and parking lot across the street is accessible just hide your valuables.

Just be careful. When we came, I didn't see OR SMELL any. That's a good sign I guess. Anyway, came here to do a CPR TRAINING COURSE. Spent about 2 hrs here. No one bothered and maybe seen 1 person with a dog. Perhaps this place has owners who actually picks up after themselves & their dog too. Park was clean & pleasant. You know how some parks can be?? It feels like it's dirty or dangerous. Nope! Not this park. Actually, MAYBE!! It's not a place I'd be at night tho. I didn't see too much lighting in the area. And it's in the back of homes and apartments on a side street. Not like it's on or on the side of a MAIN ROAD or anything. So, YEAH... I wouldn't say this place is TOTALLY COMPLETELY SAFE! NO! Just saying that it's a place where you can hang out with a bu ch of friends or family and not be bothered by the traffic in the roads or people coming out of the woodworks watching your event. Oh PARKING IS A B!+[#!! Because it's in a cup de sac road, and NO private parking lot, parking is limited. And the street parking is already taken by the people who lives in the area. So, if there's no parking INSIDE the CUL DE SAC, you'll have to find parking ON THE ROAD or park at the shopping center, and walk your butt down. It's not too far of a walk, but it is a distance. Quarter mile perhaps. Think I may try to hold a birthday party here. But, I don't know if we can pop up tents. Oh! And there's a playground for the kids too! A jungle gym! And YES... there is restrooms. But it looks kind of small. Smaller than MOST PARK RESTROOMS. I didn't check it out, so I don't know how much stalls there is. I'm guessing 2 stalls minimum. 2 toilets for girls & 1 urinal stall & 1 toilet for boys. If I do come back here... I'll repost with mire details. "Thanks for your time & "YIBIDIP, YIBIDIP... THATS ALL FOLKS!"

This dog park is a VERY spacious gated area welcome to all dogs, large and small. There is a lovely view of Koko Head and the beach nearby. Free parking lot with lots of spaces, and benches under shaded areas. Poop bags, water, and tennis balls are available. I personally haven't had/seen any issues with dogs/owners. Owners here are more attentive than other parks I've been to. Just watch where you walk because there may be some poop, attracting a lot of flies as well. When visiting, just be mindful, watch your dog, and they will have a great time :)

The big dog area is huge with lots of running around. Both areas have a few benches for the humans to sit and it has trees for shade, plus bowls for water and a water faucet available. They also provide poop bags and there is PLENTY of parking. When we go there with our 2 small dogs , a papillon and Min Pin, we start off in the small dog area ( which is never busy) and they always look over at the big dog park ,with a look that says "we can handle them Mom". LOL So we always end up in the bigger area and they are in doggy heaven! Everyone is always nice and watch their dogs. Now in the outside areas and parking lot are hundreds of feral cats, but they're harmless and it looks like people feed them. Costco and Roy's restaurant is across the street to do your food run and a happy hour drink(not in that order ;) )before heading home. This is one of the best dog parks on the island!
