She deftly backed us into several caves for some amazing pictures and filled us in on the history of this area as we made our way past some of the most magnificent scenery on this planet. To be 100% candid, when we arrived, we had some reservations as the boat seemed small, but after the day was over, we realized it was the perfect size. Four things about Komohana that are amazing and much better than a larger tour group: 1. Picks up further out, closer to Napoli coast. We had to drive a little further out, but it saved us time on the boat to reach Napali. We also got to go further north along the coast because of that too! 2. Locally owned boat. Our group of 4 had an incredible morning on the Na'Pali Coast boat tour with Captain Koa. He accommodated our last minute booking and we were so lucky to have found him. Super laid-back local guy who just wants his guests to have fun and enjoy the experience. Our original charter was cancelled due to a high surf warning (12-16' waves) but Koa said it would be "an adventure" and made it happen. We felt completely safe the whole time. The high surf made it difficult to enter the sea caves but the monster waves crashing against the coastline with the mountains overhead was truly a sight to see. On the way he found some dolphins and we sat on the front of the boat while they swam alongside us. On the way back to the dock he let us drag some fishing lines and we caught a few fish. Unbelievable day. Koa's boat is awesome. Fit 4 comfortably with plenty of room for additional guests. Recently painted and updated. Clean and functional with a booming sound system as well. Our experience with Komohana Charters from inquiry to tour was top notch, 5 stars! From my initial inquiry, Bethany was prompt to address all my questions and was so sweet and kind to work with. We reserved a private tour for our family (husband, myself and our 7 year old son) We are truly honored to have Koa guide us through the Na'Pali Coast. We have toured the Na'Pali coast multiple times and this tour tops them all. Koa is an amazing captain. He's like Aquaman - he knows the waves and how to navigate his boat. He was kind enough to take photos/videos for us and gave us enough time to enjoy the beauty the Na'Pali Coast has to offer. I especially appreciated his attentiveness towards our 7 year old son. Although he had been on the Na'Pali Coast prior to our tour, it was his first time snorkeling in open water. Koa helped him put on his life vest, I could tell my little one was a little nervous but Koa began encouraging him and eventually our little guy built up enough courage and jumped off. Koa even assisted quickly with helping our little guy with his snorkel gear once we realized water got into his goggles cus his hair was caught in it. We were very happy to find Captain Koa and Komohana charters! We had 6 people and were looking for a more personal tour than the cattle boats you see advertised in the airport. Komohana charters delivered! We were able to get into the smaller caves on the Na Pali coast and see monk seals, we also saw a ton of spinner dolphins and got into the waterfalls in the caves. Captain Koa is a very cool guy and knows all the native history of the Na Pali coast. Our family of 4 with 2 older teens thoroughly enjoyed this experience! The cliffs are incredible, the sea caves are really cool, Being that the boat is smaller we could navigate the sea caves where the bigger boats could only watch us from a distance. We even threw the fishing line out while we were going slower. We managed to catch 2 fish while enjoying the sights. We saw a large pod of Spinner dolphins up close and personal and they gave us a nice show. We saw other pods of dolphins along the way and saw numerous turtles too. The water coming back was a bit rough as the wind had picked up but captain Koa knows what he is doing out there and we knew we were in good hands- it made for a fun ride. Being a Catamaran the boat was more stable than a lot of the other boats we saw out there and with a max passenger limit of 6 it was more intimate and we could do what our group wanted.
