The ice cream is fantastic, rich and creamy and they do not skimp on the serving sizes. I see now why there is often a long line to get taken care of, but it moves pretty quickly. The servers are wonderful, but I want to give a shout out to Abby in particular, she went above and beyond the normal call of duty and made my birthday a very, very special day for me. I was so touched by her kindness, I had tears in my eyes. It was truly the highlight of my day. So take care of these kids and be kind to them. They are exceptional human beings. Arrived in Skagway via cruise ship. The day before we arrived, I checked the weather and it said it was 74 degrees with a heat wave advisory. I laughed because 74 degrees in HI is ideal. Got off the ship, did our excursion and walked into town at about 11:30 am, lunch time. So the town was a buzz and SUNNY. People walking around in shorts, tshirts, tank tops. In other words, it was a beautiful warm day. At 70 degrees. After trying out the dough bread in the shade, we did a bit of walking, sipping of water to stay hydrated as there was very little breeze. Oh, and the mosquitoes! They're so big in Skagway. Then we came across Kone. My sister needed an ice cream. The line was out the door but we were the third group outside of the door which isn't too bad. Kone is a candy store but people were here for the ice cream. Ice cream served was Dreyers. I got a wildberry sorbet that I don't Normally see on a menu. It's a bit sweeter than a raspberry. Very good. I also got the Bavarian nuts because I don't see these around as often and it was as good as I remembered. All the kids working the counter, there were a few of them, were all very helpful. About 30-minutes later as we were walking past and back to the ship, the line for Kone was long as the day was getting warmer. read more

Get the fudge and the nuts! The staff were really friendly and had a good system to keep the really long line moving. The space was small so it is helpful if one or two people go in to order and get everything. The ice cream was nothing special or specific to the area but was refreshing. The stars are the homemade fudge and the roasted nuts! It was so good that I only got a small bite & no pictures. My family devoured. I think there were also flavored sodas too but we didn't get a chance to try those. read more

They offer corporate Dreyer's ice cream here which is fine but I would've preferred home made especially in this cool old town. I was kind of disappointed when I looked at the selection because I thought the icecream was going to be homemade. We were in Skagway two days. Each day we had to stop and sample some of the ice cream at Kone Kompany. The ice cream was delicious and service fast. A couple benches were outside the door with others enjoying the ice cream. Those benches were usually full. A delicious place to stop. read more

We made a quick stop and grabbed some fudge at the end of the season (late September). We wish we had tried more than 3 'squares'! We tried the maple, milk chocolate with walnuts and southeast. I had been in Juneau and Skagway to the Alaskan Fudge Company and balked at their prices. They didn't even offer free samples to help persuade you. Kone Kompany, though the same in price, was the only one to offer me a sample and boy was it delicious! I bought 1/4 lb of the Motherload and it was a great snack for my husband and I. They had some sample pieces on the counter. If they don't have this out or offer you a sample, just ask and they'll cut you off a piece of whatever you want. They make all their fudge in their back room. Supposedly a local lady comes in each morning and makes a new loaf of fudge of whatever is needed. My husband had a chocolate milkshake and said it was "Deliciouuusss." Yes, $6 for a milkshake may seem expensive but not for Skagway, where a gallon of milk costs $8! Same goes for the fudge since some say it is overpriced. You've got to remember where you are and how much it costs the makers to buy the ingredients and still make a profit! read more

I really love this place because it's not just an ice-cream shop, they have popcorn, nachos, fresh made fudge (which is amazing, like freaking heaven for us chocolate lovers) and cinnamon roasted nuts!
