On our visit to Skagway, we wondered why there was a huge line out the door to this place. A place serving frybread? We're in! They crank out the frybread so swiftly that even with a line out the door, everything moves quickly and we were in and out within ten minutes. Doughboy ($8) - This is a huge piece of fried dough, easily larger than my face. It's an interesting decision to have a thicker diameter, probably 3/4 inch thick, and a much thinner interior. It's almost like pizza in construction. This makes it so that the crustier portions are soft and chewy while the inner area is crisped up to perfection. An uneven fry is expected, but I feel as a whole, the frybread might be a bit underfried. The crust area, in particular, is soft and chewy without any crispness and has an almost raw flour-like taste to it. At least the entire thing is dusted with cinnamon and sugar to make it a sweet treat! (4/5) This frybread has some weaknesses, but hey, even a weak frybread is a good frybread. We stood in line and ended up getting two of their doughboys, It's pretty much what you would expect - a giant cinnamon sugar donut. But sometimes expectations being met are a great thing and in this case it worked well for us because it was absolutely delicious and totally satisfying. We decided to try this spot after walking by and smelling the delectable scents coming from inside. There was a line out the door but it only took us about 5-7 min to get to the front. Klondike only offers two products behind the counter: Doughboys (fry bread) and shaved ice, so that helps move things quickly. They also had a number of candies and souvenirs around the shop as well. We ordered a Doughboy to share. It was $8 and came out hot and fresh. The Doughboy was huge, bigger than my head, so perfect size to share. It was delicious, like a cross between a funnel cake and a churro. Soft and fluffy with the perfect level of sweetness from the cinnamon sugar on top. My only critique is that there is nowhere to sit and eat them, so be prepared to take them to go. Perfect stop for a treat while walking around downtown Skagway! read more

Worth the hype for sure, so so good! My husband and I's only regret is that we didn't get our own, had the line not been so long we would've totally got another one. I didn't get to try the shaved ice but they did have a fireweed flavor that sounded interesting. Despite seeing plenty of stunning sights in Skagway and beyond, I think we talked about the doughboy more than any other Alaskan feat. This shop is quick and efficient. I can't even imagine how many glorious doughboys they pump out per day. Hundreds? Thousands? The doughboys themselves are perfect pillowy pieces of dough. They're dusted perfectly with cinnamon, sugar, and love. While I was walking the streets of Skagway, I saw a long line and I'm the type to check it out lol I saw a big sign saying Alaskan fry bread and I never had that before so I was excited to try it. I randomly just got in line and a few minutes later someone said that it was a line you go to after you order haha so I had to go to another line to order but it wasn't that long. I finally got my fry bread and boy it's a big piece! You can easily share it with 2 other people. It was fresh out of the fryer with sprinkled cinnamon and sugar I think. Every bite was so good and I just kept eating it until I got halfway to save it for later. Also, there's no tables inside so you can eat it outside. On this cold day folks waited in line that extends outside in the cold for this flat donut type pastry. As you make your way inside, you get a look at all the jarred products for sale inside this little shop. As I watch the lady place the dough in the frier and turn it over couple times. Remove it and put some cinnamon on both sides and knock off the excess. Placed it on a piece of paper and hand it to me. Like an excited kid I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it. Because it was served hot and it was cold outside. That first bite was really delicious. Like a donut and the cinnamon made the perfect touch to it.
