Great food, huge quantities. We arrived with about 16 of our RV caravan at the same time. Yet the service was fast and efficient. We were in Haines for a few days, I wanted to try 33 Mile, as didn't have the chance last time in town. We went for dinner, they were open and place packed. We took last open table. Service was prompt & friendly all the way through. Daughter enjoyed her grilled ckn sandwich, said the ranch dressing on side salad was a little mayonnaise-y, but she ate it all. I enjoyed pulled pork sandwich with very tasty baked beans, good tots, & okay cornbread. The decor is great, with vintage snowshoes and whale bones up on the walls. The drive out to here from Haines is amazing, and part of the enjoyment. Forest covered mountains and steep alpine peaks...so beautiful. Definitely recommend eating here. Tried the South of the Border burger, sub cheddar for the pepper jack, with fries. Burger was awesome. No complaints. I can only think of two burgers that I'd even compare with this one. But they are nowhere in the vicinity of 33 Mile. These fries... they get their own paragraph. These folks have the time and temp dialed in. And they just may be using unicorn oil to fry them them up. The perfect mix of crunch and soft. Not an overpowering potato taste. I say with confidence that these are the best fries I've ever had. Tried a few of the pies. The peanut butter pie is excellent. Not too sweet, amazing taste. The blueberry, strawberry-blueberry, and strawberry-rhubarb are alright, but I can't boast about them. The crusts were not over cooked. These pies were just kinda ehhh to me. Overall, love this place. If you're driving along this highway for the first time, I recommend stopping. You'll not regret it. read more

Our best meal experience in Haines, AK, by far... outside of Haines Vol FF's BBQ. So, worth the drive out of town, or into town after just having left Canada. We were saddened to learn we'd miss their pig roast. We showed up mid afternoon, met by a great hostess... (the only person working the front). Wasn't busy. Both my son and I ordered variations of their bacon and cheese burger, and it didn't disappoint. No room for dessert - they had numerous pies. No complaints. Would surely go there again. This felt so homey and nice. The staff who ran it made sure to provide excellent service and welcomed you in with open arms. Especially their puppy, Sargent. He was so friendly and kept playing fetch with us. Food was amazing!! We loved the burgers, homemade fries, and milkshakes. We all agreed it was the best meal of our vacation. While working on a project in Haines, we were sort of limited in finding good restaurants to eat a decent dinner. We made the journey North out of Haines via the Haines Highway to the 33 Mile Roadhouse. The restaurant/bar/roadhouse is somewhat isolated, but once inside it provided a comfortable feel, decorated with rustic and historic Alaskana memorabilia. But onto the food... You will not leave hungry from this roadhouse. I had the signature 33 Mile Burger with some of the best French fries I've ever eaten. If you are an epic eater, the burger can be "super sized" with an extra patty. For dessert, I ordered a to-go slice of the black and blue pie (blackberry/blueberry combo). It too was excellent. If you ever find yourself traveling the Haines Highway, and find yourself with an appetite, you definitely need to stop in at the 33 Mile Roadhouse. read more

Arrived on the ferry in Haines and stopped here after someone told me about it on the ride over (recommendations in a bar even on a ferry always seem to turn out good, right?). I was with other people but I had a bacon cheese burger with fries. It was so yummy and then i took a hot chocolate to go (it comes with whipped cream and sprinkles!!!!!!!!!!ah!!!!!!sprinkles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...) I WILL eat here again and I HIGHLY recommend you stopped bc the food after that driving through Canada is uh.. well... I wouldnt know I was stuffed and didnt see anything else. If you are coming or going out of Haines just do youself a favor and stop here. First of all, it was so freaking good. I was surprised by all the options- I had a chipotle reindeer po'boy and my freind got the fried beef steak dip melt. Both were incredible...I'm also partial to the handcut fries that come with it. Staying in Haines the night before the ferry in the off-season we were hard pressed to find anywhere to eat. This made it all better. 10/10 would drive through the Yukon to eat here again. read more

We stayed in Haines for a couple of days, ostensibly to get a photo of the "Welcome to Alaska" sign for my collection. On Haines Highway driving up from Haines toward the Canadian Border one encounters at the 33 mile mark the Roadhouse. Can't miss it, and I'm sure to some it's a welcome sight. Well, there's about 8-10 tables available, a friendly atmosphere and what I would judge to be adequate food. I ordered the burger and fries, and the wife ordered a chili and I couldn't pass up the Caramel roll served warm. This place is awesome and such a welcome, warm spot with fantastic Alaskan atmosphere and views. Breakfast lunch options are all excellent. Service is great. Coffee never runs out. Owner Robbie is a snowmobile enthusiast and true Alaskan, just look at his property and you can tell. Admire his spirit and dedication to his business. This place is truly effing great. I was a little bit scared by the dudes in camo at the bar that stared at me. I can only believe it's because I was like a spring flower walking into a dark dive. My wife and I spent 4 great days in Haynes. We met 3 people who live in Haynes that were orginally from our home town in Indiana. I went to high school some 50 years ago with one of them. They suggested this roadhouse as a must. They advised a famous basketball coach from Indiana always ate there when in the area fishing. We went, and the hamburger, french fries and the home made pies were fantastic. Nothing fancy about the roadhouse except it is authentic. The drive out and back was worth the trip. Typical greasy spoon menu with an emphasis on burgers, hand-cut fries which some people love but I find to be disgustingly limp and oily. Often have good home-made pie on the menu. Note that the location is mapped incorrectly on Apple phones, it is NOT in Haines proper, it is literally 33 miles out of town along the Haines highway. People drive out specifically to eat here as much for the pretty drive as for the food, which like ALL restaurant food in Haines is very pricey by lower-48 standards. read more
