Our experience was flawless. Most of our process was done over the phone, which was very convenient for us do to our work schedules. We came to the dealer within two days to sign our papers. Upon our arrival we were welcomed by every employee we came in contact with. Our salesperson, Rodney, was near the door, awaiting our arrival. My fiance' was the only one who had met him, I had not. He called me by name before I ever knew who he was. Everything was ready for us. There was minimal waiting time. They have a very nice waiting area btw ;) It was a quick, painless process. As we were leaving in our new vehicle, Cloiron (sp), the general manager came out to thank us and send us off. The next day we received a call from Christian to see how everything was with the truck. Koons joins the list of dealerships exercising inflated marketing tactics. They advertised a price as being "Market" and the WOW price (which is the actual market price), creating the illusion of savings. Their website expressly states that there are no hidden fees such as state inspection or reconditioning, upon negotiating prices on multiple vehicles over the past few months it was finally spilled by one of the sales managers that they are in fact charging people those fees, they're just being dishonest about it. Don't be fooled, do your research and get a fair deal. I'm not stating they're adding fees to the sale price, they're adding the fees then posting the sale price. It's all profit. read more

If I could give -100 stars that's what they'd get. My son was pre-approved for a loan from his bank with a very low interest rate. The bank told him to get a purchase order from Koons and come back. When he called Koons and told them that, they said, oh we work with your bank, we can take care of everything here. Ok so he went to Koons and once in the back with Harry Sang, Harry told him the monthly payment amount and my son questioned it because it was higher than he was told. Harry told my son it was because of the service agreement that he added to his purchase. My son believed him, as I'm sure he expected he was being told the truth. NOT....LIES LIES.... My son went to his bank to finalize the loan and was told that Koons did not use the bank loan. I checked my son's credit report and found they ran UNAUTHORIZED credit checks to 5 companies and got him approved AT A HIGHER INTEREST RATE WHEN HE WAS ALREADY APPROVED FOR A LOAN..... DUMMY.....Then he tried to act like he was never told of the pre approval. ANOTHER LIE.....I SPOKE TO THE SALES REP AND IM SURE SHE TOLD HIM. That was the 1st thing my son said when he called and when he went there. Then he says he can't do anything about it. Really, You lied and scammed my son and now you can't fix it!!!!! HORRIBLE PLACE. HORRIBLE MAN. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! AND THEY WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS ....EVER!!! I went into this dealership at the end of February 2021 looking for a mid-size used SUV. I work in commissions so I was expecting a large check at the end of the month. Everything seemed to go smoothly. I signed papers thinking everything would be on hold until I had the full down payment. I will admit it did take longer than expected to get my money. I did call and kept them in the loop of what was going on. However, what I did not know was that they sent my paperwork over to a finance company like I rode off the lot with the car. I also received a billing statement with a due date. I was also told by the finance company that my deal was done and they are not sure as to why the dealership did not release the car to me. A few weeks go by. So I get a call from another sales guy saying they can't do the deal since I didn't have the full down payment for the car. I explained I have half in savings. They then tried to put me in a new deal/new mid SUV with half of the money we agree upon. I was then told I could come in and the deal was done. I was all for the new deal. I came to the dealership with a cashier's check with the agreed amount. Then they asked me if I had all of my income paperwork. I gave all of this in the beginning and sent emails with everything, but no one had anything. I was there with my kids for a few hours. Then both sales managers say "Oh our finance manager needs to go over the numbers again we will call you". This was on a Friday evening. So Saturday goes by no calls. Sunday they are closed. Monday no calls that morning. So I called about 1 pm. I get sent to the top finance manager voice mail. I leave a message. Call my sales guy an hour later. He says "Let me find out what's going on". He never calls me back. Now I call back Tuesday the receptionist specifically says "The sale manager is walking back to his desk. I'm transferring you now". I know for a fact he sent my call to voice mail. Now by this time I have the full down payment. Of course, they don't know this because no one is returning my damn calls! That day I also decide to go to another dealership to test drive a new mid-size SUV! YOU CANT CALL ME BACK OR KNOWLEDGE ME YOU WON'T AND CANT' HAVE MY MONEY! I know the dealership wants to make a certain amount on each deal, but just be honest about it. Wednesday I called back again to follow up because now there is a pending auto loan in my name and I don't have the car. I went on the website and the car was listed to be sold. The same car they received money for. I got sent to a voice mail again. However, this time it was full and I could not leave a message. Also, this day I brought a better car from another dealership and the service was good. Thursday I call back changed up my voice a bit and was finally able to speak with a finance manager. I let her know why I was calling. They sent my paperwork over to the finance company and received money for a car they didn't complete a deal on. She did state the money was being sent back. I let her know due to me not receiving any callbacks I decided to get a new car somewhere else. She sounded surprised. It's now Friday I called back the finance company they still have not returned the funds for the car. Bottom line DONT NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL! RUN! DRIVE AWAY! DO WHATEVER BUT DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. They only call or talk with you if they think they are getting money out of you or you will get approved to buy a car. Their customer service is piss ass poor. If they don't think they can sell you a car they will forget you even exist. read more

I will never buy a car from this place again. They sold me a 2016 sports car with 52k miles and it has been nothing but trouble ever since. The rotors were warped, the bolts were rusty and needed to be replaced in order to fix the rotors. All of which was not covered under the bumper to bumper warranty they sold me. The battery and a fuse and the starter all went bad, leaving me stranded on the road. There was smoke coming out of my hood because the starter was burning up. I had to pay for my own tow truck. And now again, the battery died and the car won't jump start. I've put 10k miles on this car and it has been in the shop 3 times already!! They also promised to give me a jack and owner's manual for the car and it's been 7 months and they still haven't given it to me. I've had to call them 4 times and I still haven't received it. Oh, and I also found rust on my car at the top of the front windshield. This is a 2016 car, it shouldn't have rust on it. read more

This is not a place to service your vehicle. I only used this place for service my car since they gave me a free service. it took them over two hrs to do oil change and tire rotation. Moreover, they declined multi point vehicle inspection. Even though they didn't tell me anything, the receipt says that "customer declined courtesy multi point inspection at this time" moreover, they left leaves and some wood chips in the driver-side. Playing games is what's done best. I took my 15' Chevy Cruze there for repair because something is wrong with the door, the lights won't go off & the fob wont beep when locking (happens a lot) they told me it the fob but ITS NOT. I bought the extended warranty on the car and every time I have issues it's there will be a diagnosis fee and It's not covered under warranty (why the hell would they sell a warranty that can never be used?) Now my check engine light is on ! (Still under warranty) & they want to charge me to diagnose the problem which I've already hooked up to a Machine and have the code (exhaust issue). They just steal your money and customer service is horrible I've been hung up by the service department multiple time for different issues, they never help or can never fix the problem the 1st,2nd or 3rd time. My cars AC fans were blowing everywhere at one Point, nothing would come out of my face vent only defrost & the tech told me it's normal for a Cruze (no it's not) took it back they reset the computer worked for 1 day had to go back & they replaced something under the dash. That lasted 1 year after that it started over again took it back and they kept telling me this is normal nothing is wrong , I had to leave my car there and complain multiple times to get them to fix my car that they were refusing to do so. Finally after they took it and compared it to another Cruze the "membrane" of the fans was not syncing and getting stuck (I was right) it's not normal and they just always have issues with wanting to work. I will NEVER abut another vehicle from this dealership they are just a joke and play many many games with customers. read more

Customer beware - had my truck in for an oil change (which took 3 hours). After the multipoint inspection was told that I needed front brakes. I declined the service and took it to another mechanic. He checked the brakes and front pads were 8mm - not even close to needing to be replaced. He even showed me with the measuring tool. Shameful read more

The service department is great. Pretty professional from my experience. I brought in my a car for MD inspection. A basic inspection shouldn't take more than an hour, 2 hours top. However, it took over 4 hours, and the mechanic put over 18 miles on the car. Why 18 miles?? That is massive amount of road time! read more

They were very confrontational and demining to me! I felt a little threatened as they still have my car. The sad part is that they take no responsibility for the problem I am having with my car. They are replacing the transmission for the second time because "the normal noise just got louder" WHAT that is about a $3000 repair for a normal noise! Somehow I cannot see GM putting out that money for a normal noise!!! Not sure if they just think customers are stupid or if they just have no clue!! Out of mere location and convenience, I originally was a Bob Bell customer although I did buy a new S-10 from Christian at Koons about 12 years ago and he was awesome and I love my truck and the deal I received. After buying my fifth new Chevy from Bob Bell over the years, I became too frustrated to continue to be treated like yesterday's garbage every time I had an issue with my trucks/cars or something they did wrong. I took my wife's Equinox to Koons for routine maintenance and,,, HOLY MOLY!!, I was floored by what I was missing out on. Koons service department treated us like we were their family. I actually showed up without an appointment and they said, "it is no problem at all", just give us about an hour to get three appointments out of the way". The waiting room was very clean, well maintained, had free fresh coffee and cookies and it was just the wife and I and another couple waiting but this room could comfortably hold 20 or more people. At Bob Bell we were completely skeeved out by an over crowded, absolutely filthy waiting area and the greasy mechanics drank the old stale coffee. The service rep (Art Christiansen) was rude grumpy and should have retired a decade ago. He treated my wife and daughter like second rate citizens in such a condescending manner, they both practically were in tears. ****PLEASE READ MY BOB BELL YELP OR DEALERRATER REVIEW**** We will never return Bob Bell We literally received Royal treated from Koons and from now on, although it is a much longer ride to White Marsh, our next Chevy WILL come from Koons. read more

Went in this past Saturday looking to trade in my Ram. Within ten minutes on lot a salesman named Ryan Parker came up very friendly asking if we needed help. I told him which truck I was interested in and he got the keys and a dealer tag within minutes. After test drive he had us sit down for numbers. The first evaluation for my trade was lower than what it was worth, within a few minutes Ryan and Chris (sales manager) came back with a higher trade. Very friendly, helpful and did everything they could to make the process as painless as possible. I had a pre-approval with Capital One and once I showed them the approval they only ran my credit to capital one instead of being shot gunned to 15 lenders as some have done in my previous experiences. After I got the payment I was in range for we were brought back for finance with Stacey who was incredibly helpful and nice. Explained all the payment options, and warranty options for the new truck. With process from test drive to signing was about an hour to an hour and a half max. Very friendly staff, accommodating, and helpful. There were a few small issues after the sale on the truck that are going to be repaired and addressed after Chris was beyond helpful and nice with the whole process. I was never a GM fan and never went to a Chevy dealer, but after this experience I will be going back to this dealership for my next vehicle! read more

Even after they run your credit ((with approval)) at 9pm at night, give good faith at 10pm that will you be down to sign in the morning they still sell the one you're after FROM UNDER YOU!!! They even texted JUST after 9am when they opened to say someone was looking at it and they couldn't hold it! Apparently having credit approval after hours even speaking with them on the phone with your credit approval, texting the salesman with good faith you'll be there in the morning they still can't have the respect to say this vehicle is PENDING until noon! Multiple calls back and forth with manager and salesman over the vehicle - to get a response of "if the person test driving doesn't buy we'll let you know!" No offer to locate another one like it, no offer to take our deposit at 9:30am! And another manager just called to tell us the couple that bought the vehicle paid CASH and they prefer that instead of financing! Went in for oil change and tire rotation. Had to call dealer back to confirm tires were rotated. Right front tire was low before going in checked after leaving right front tire still low. Service writer confirmed with tech that was rotated. Tpms was not reset. Now I have to go back to dealer to have reset which I really don't have time to do. Also not sure why tire pressure wasn't checked and corrected. Left greasy prints on good and pass fender. Second trip to dealer, second issue with dealer. Not going back. I will go to other places for non warranty services if this is how Chevrolet dealerships treat customers. read more

I wanted to give Koons more stars because I loved the place and we loved our salesman! unfortunately, the finance department was a nightmare. I don't understand why we were literally forced to get a warranty to get a decent rate when the credit score was 800. i kept saying we didn't want the warranty and she kept saying that's the ONLY WAY she can get us a 3% rate as opposed to a 6% rate. this makes no sense to me with a great credit score. they are serious scammers back there, and even sales team alluded to it. but we didn't preplan any other financing (a mistake) and didn't realize how badly they would treat us. and then we got about five emails that they just kept pinging our credit!!!!!!!!!! WHY???? Go to KOONS but DO NOT use their financing. they are serious scammers and it pissed me off that they can even get away with it! On August 17, 2017 I had the worst experience at the Koons Whitemarsh Chevy dealership. The staff was completely disrespectful and lacked empathy towards me and the situation at hand. I brought in my 2013 Dodge Charger R/T, which I purchased from this very dealership last September, for service on August 15, 2017 to have the alternator replaced . During replacement of the part the service technician shorted out the wiring for the oil temperature sensor. The shortage of this sensor caused the check engine light to come on ( I own a diagnostic tool which allowed me to see why the light was on) immediately after I left the dealership. I attempted to bring my vehicle in on August 16, 2017 since I work the night shift and was unable to turn around when the light first appeared. Service Advisor Charlie Burkhardt advised that since I could not leave my vehicle that day, he would reschedule me for 0900 hours Thursday morning and everything would be taken care of. When I arrived on August 17, 2017 at approximately 0830 hours Service Advisor Charlie Burkhardt checked me in and took control of my vehicle as I left to run errands. Upon returning at approximately 1100 hours Service Advisor Casey Adkins reported that a mouse entered my vehicle and chewed the wiring for the sensor and it would cost me the warranty deductible of $200 to repair. I informed Ms. Adkins I am not at fault for this issue and it is the fault of the dealership considering my vehicle sat at the dealership from approximately 0830 hours until 1900 hours and the check engine light illuminated immediately after I left. Ms. Adkins then stated she would get the manager for further assistance. Ms. Adkins returned 20 minutes later with Charlie Burkhardt who is listed as a service advisor on the Koons website and also on his business card. There was not any point where I was able to speak with a manager about the issue I was dealing with. Nonetheless, Mr. Burkhardt and I spoke and he informed me that the wires were in fact chewed by now a squirrel (although Ms. Adkins told me a mouse earlier). I provided the same explanation to Mr. Burkhardt as I did with Ms. Adkins. Then Mr. Burkhardt stated he would personally inspect my vehicle for a better assessment of the actual problem and get back to me shortly. Mr. Burkhardt returned 15 minutes later and stated that a squirrel chewed the wiring and that that's what is causing the sensor failure even though the sensor and wiring are in the same location as the alternator. Mr. Burkhardt also stated that his service technician possibly shorted the wiring when removing the alternator but it's the act of a squirrel chewing the wires and not his technician who he just admitted possibly shorted the wiring. In this instance it was quite obvious that my business was not a priority nor was I respected. During this visit not only was my vehicle damaged but I was lied to and my concerns went unnoticed and I find that utterly disgusting. To be in a customer serving industry the service I received at Koons Chevrolet in Whitemarsh was pathetic. read more

Looking for a truck and the financing I arranged fell through. Salesman wanted to try and get the deal done however I was hesitant because of past experiences where the deal is submitted to multiple banks meaning multiple inquiries. I finally relented after the high pressure salesman said he was 98% sure he could get it done. He agreed they would submit the deal to two banks. I'm notified immediately of any change or inquiry to my credit file. At last count it was 5 inquiries and then he lied and tried to tell me those inquiries were already there. I guess the credit bureaus all got the inquiry date wrong? Overall bad experience from a very dishonest salesman. read more

Looking for cars: Great place to go, the sales associate we went to was always very nice and knowledgeable, and we honestly looked forward to going back each time. Buying a car: This is where things went sour, they clearly tried to hide almost $2000 off what we would be financing. They kept insisting it's standard practice, the "worksheet" said the price was "$$$ including rebates plus tax, tags + trade", which to us means total price. Apparently "plus" means "not including", and "+" means also not including. The sales manager also came over with his best offer, opening with the line 'ok, so first, we'll pay off your trade' and he wrote in ink on the paper under the old trade in value, the same amount currently owed. Twenty minutes later we find out it means "we are paying off this top amount, which is kinda-sorta-not close to your current payoff here in ink". These overall repeated deceptive practices were just infuriating, and we left shortly after we found out. We are very sad to say we cannot recommend going here for business (we really liked our sales associate), but it is fine to go to if you are just looking. read more

This was the absolute worst car buying experience my husband and I have ever had. The car we test drove was missing headrests, we asked if they had them and was told yes. We asked if they had the second key fob for the car, again we were told yes. These were both lies. Once we signed the deal we were told they couldn't find the headrests and second fob. We were given head rests from another car and were told we would be owed a key. Then we waited, we waited 4 HOURS for financing. The entire time our sales guy kept saying just a few more minutes. Only to find out when he was "checking" he was actually watching TV in the break room. (My husband followed him). All their finance people got to go home and we didn't get to leave till almost 9! Then when we brought the car the next week for the key fob and they HADN'T TOLD THE KEY GUY! So my husband took a day off work for nothing. I purchased a vehicle yesterday from Koons Auto in White Marsh. I am a PA resident and provided my own financing through my local bank. I visited Koons auto with a cashiers check from my bank to complete the purchase process. For starters, my sales rep was GREAT!! I was feeling really good about the deal we were finalizing and felt as if I was in good hands. Halfway through the signing of the paperwork my sales rep mentions that they forgot to have me fill out the credit form. I ask what the credit form is for and she says that its a typical form every customer is asked to fill out. I continue to question this form because although they did not specifically say it was a credit check, that is what it sounded like to me. After a few moments, I said no to the credit form and asked to speak with a manager. Martin, the Sales Manager who approached me began to say that this was typical of dealerships, its just a way for companies to verify my identity, he confirmed that the document was an in house document and that it would not be forwarded to any banks or 3rd parties. I also specifically asked if this credit form would cause any inquiries on my CR and he assured me more than once, "No, this is not a credit pull". A few moments later, my sales rep fills out the form online and I began to receive notifications on my cellphone of a new credit inquiry. I ask to speak to Martin again and this time I frankly asked him why he lied to me? He basically said it was no big deal and its just one little inquiry. I then asked to speak with the business manager to work on getting this inquiry removed and she pretty much more articulately said what Martin was trying to explain to me. She went into the OFAC database and how its mandatory they verify that I am not a terrorist and a credit check is just part of that process. I have since learned that a credit check is not necessary to verify anyone's identify and because I was providing my own financing it was no reason for the dealer to look into my financial background. I am pissed, the arrogance and blatant deceit that I witnessed has really left a bad taste in my mouth and unfortunately although my initial Sales Rep was great, it was those above her that were dishonest and seemed pretty comfortable participating in bad business practices. Later that day I checked my email and seen that the credit form was actually a finance application. Now, why would a dealership submit a finance application for a customer who is already holding a $22,000 check? read more
