Small place. Got rather loud for the amount of people there. Best for the locals....our first time there. Good food, limited menu.

I just made it into the mug club. A good place to belly for some craft beer. He had a great selection of beers and growlers to go.

If I could give negative stars, I wouldn't hesitate--I'd be digging for a minus-five option…read more Last night at 1056 Brewery started off exactly how you hope a night out with friends goes--great company, lots of laughs, even a little bingo thrown in for fun. Unfortunately, that perfect evening didn't just take a turn... it drove straight off a cliff. Seven of us ordered appetizers and full meals, and everything hit the table looking and tasting great--except for one unfortunate burger that was so thoroughly charred it could've doubled as a hockey puck. Our friend tried to power through it (because who wants to complain?), but eventually realized it just wasn't edible. They politely asked if it could be remade or replaced. Simple enough, right? Wrong. About 20 minutes later--after everyone else had finished eating--we weren't met with a replacement, but with what I can only assume was the owner, who approached with an accusatory tone that immediately made the entire table uncomfortable. Instead of resolving the issue quietly, she marched back from the kitchen holding the same burnt burger and presented it like courtroom evidence, as if we were on trial for daring to send it back. At that point, we were all sitting there in disbelief. Was this really happening? Then came the comment: essentially suggesting that next time, we should say something before eating most of it--despite the fact that our group had spent plenty on food and drinks and clearly wasn't angling for a free burger. The implication alone was enough to sour the entire experience. To "fix" things, she offered to comp the burger (which we had already declined) and, as we were leaving, handed over a $20 gift card--as if that could somehow erase the awkwardness, embarrassment, and frankly rude treatment we had just experienced. It couldn't. What should have been a minor kitchen mistake turned into a bizarre and uncomfortable scene, all because of how it was handled. Mistakes happen--burnt burgers happen--but treating paying customers like they're trying to pull one over on you? That's a choice. It's a real shame, because the night had been so enjoyable up until that moment. But after witnessing that level of unprofessional and unpleasant behavior, it's hard to imagine returning. Do better. Seriously.

We stopped into Shoreline Brewery while visiting Michigan City because it was unbearably hot…read moreoutside and we needed somewhere to cool off before we could check into our hotel. We ordered the Elote Pizza, and overall it was really good. It had a nice wood-fired crust that was probably the highlight of the meal. The only downside was that it came with a garlic aioli that was very heavy...there was so much on the pizza that it overpowered some of the other flavors. I think it would have been even better with a lighter hand. For drinks, I had one of their sour beers and my husband ordered an IPA. Both were good, but neither really stood out as anything particularly memorable. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was friendly and took good care of us. The layout of the brewery was a little unexpected. We walked into the main entrance, then the host brought us back outside and over to a separate building where the bar is located. It was a little confusing at first, but it ended up being a neat setup. The restaurant was clean, with a spacious dining room and a nice-looking patio. The only thing that kept this from being a higher rating was the value. It felt a little expensive for what we ordered, and while everything was solid, nothing really wowed us. Overall, I'm glad we stopped in, especially as a place to escape the heat for a while. If you're in the area and looking for a casual meal and a local beer, it's worth checking out...I just wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit again.

Spoke to the manager who was very unapologetic and didn't seem to care about treating your customers well. Pretty much said that's their policy even if you happen to come just 5 mins before close. Food was average, their "award winning" lamb burger was not medium rare as stated on the menu. The only saving grace was our waitress who was very attentive and empathetic. Will not venture here again nor will recommend anyone to go here.

A reminder, this is a review on the business, not the beer alone…read more I was anxious to try Back Road as I have heard a lot of great things about their product. I ordered my beer and was surprised to be handed a good beer in a plastic cup. I was actually a little upset to have paid $5 for it as well. I should note that you can pay a couple extra bucks and purchase a pint glass to drink from Anyway, truth be told if I brewed one beer a year that was a Bud Light clone, I would never put my product in plastic. I do think it changes the taste and really gives an image that you could care less about what you're serving. Lastly, I was really put off by the staff as well. The large walk-in cooler door was opened directly into my wife by a staff member coming out. He looked at my wife with an expression of "you shouldn't have been standing in front of the door" on his face. Ordinarily, I would have agreed with him. However, the cooler is directly in front of the bar where you order your beer. I watched two other people get hit with no apology. It may have been a fluke and just this one day so I do plan on giving it a second chance but there will need to be a lot of ground made up. Everyone in my group had a feeling as though we should be grateful to have been there to have a beer. Other than that, the building is awesome.

We tried to put two tables together and were told that "it would stick out" and then had to wait for another table next to one to leave so that our party would be separated. 2. The food is WAY overpriced for what you get. I order a Philly cheesesteak and it's $12 just for the sandwich! No sides that's an extra $1.50. Someone in our party ordered the sampler and that was tiny too for $23. The cheesesteak was this little thing in a tiny hoagie. 3. Their "boneless wings" were pretty much chicken nuggets and in no way shape or form would you consider "wings". We also ordered our sauces on the side and had to build our own PB&J sauce on our "wings" and the sauce was not even good. 4. The service was terrible. Besides seating ourselves and the table fiasco, the server took 20 minutes to come to our table and had an attitude just taking our order. When someone in our party couldn't figure out what they wanted instead of making a suggestion, the server rudely said "I'll just comeback." And walked away, they came back 10 minutes later and when our person order they walked away before the person could add or change anything to their order. I had to also order a refill on my soda and felt ignored. Let's just say this is a one and done for me and would not recommend this place to anyone
