Project manager didn't read in on the blueprint so a few things had to be re-done. After 4 months of delays, stalling and redo's it was finally done. Phone call for final payment was the last I've heard from them. No thank you for using our company, etc. Not one person came to see the finished remodel. I love my new bathroom, but after so many discrepancies I will not complain that my sink should be bisque to match my toilet and not white. read more

Kopke was hired to do a major kitchen remodel. They can do adequate work but do not believe that they can design. They made several critical design errors, miss measured causing me to order and extra cabinet and then the design of where the refrigerator and oven were moved to don't allow you to stand in front of the oven with the door open (this was there great idea). They charge for an great experience but don't provide more than just ok craftsmanship. My backsplash has several soots were you can see the flaws in the install. The soffit build out they did is not level. It has taken them a year to finish the punch list. The owner is extremely difficult to deal with and you will end up talking to several different people who can't seem to communicate with each other. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

I worked with Alan to carefully work through all of the details for our kitchen. We needed to find a way to achieve more counter space and still fit everything into it that was already there. They have a good selection to pick from at their showroom and I used the 3D model feature that Kopke does to help with visualizing the kitchen before we even started building. They went through each of the steps with me before the work was started. Now, I won't say that there were not some bumps in the road to completion, but they went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect in the end. We love our galley kitchen that was created and can't wait to put it to the ultimate test this Christmas when we are having 12 people over for dinner. We called Kopke for an estimate on a closet renovation due to three positive recommendations from friends and family. When the gentleman came out for the estimate, he was nice and everything seemed fine. We were told we would hear back from him in a week. Two weeks later we called the company and were told the gentleman that was working on our estimate retired and no one had any records of our estimate so they had to send someone else out for an estimate. This one took a while to get back to us as well (so by then we started the demo ourselves). They wanted $500 for a dumpster rental and $500 to haul away the debris. We were able to fit everything into 3 garbage cans and the city took it away with our regular trash. They also wanted $900 to paint a closet white. They seem very unorganized and highly overpriced. read more

We give them 5 Stars on Greg who did the work on our 1/2 bath. We give zero to 1/2 star on their customer service. Our job was completed on January 18th, we had one problem, the sink is not draining well (very slow) we contacted them 5 days after the job was completed and we are still waiting for them to send in a plumber. We have e-mailed and called several times still no plumber - 6 weeks later. If you are getting a bathroom vanity, ask them the height of the vanity. Our bathroom was being done with a vessel sink and they were going to put in a standard KITCHEN cabinet which is way to tall for a bathroom let alone one with a vessel sink. We were so pleased with the bathroom we were going to ask them for a quote on re-doing our kitchen, roof, siding and gutters, but now I think not. They have no follow up!!!! read more

Excellent service and quality. Our kitchen re-modeling project turned out to be the best decision we ever made. Every one of their workers were respectful and courteous and once the green light was given for construction projects to begin during the Covid period, the work began. Their project manager (Mike) made daily visits to check on the progress of each stage from tear out, rough plumbing and electrical, drywall, flooring etc. and he helped make this as smooth a transition as possible. I also want to acknowledge Tony who installed and finished the cabinetry. He is truly a master carpenter and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. We hired Kopke for a kitchen remodel back in late 2019, which finally ended in early 2021 (COVID delays). There were a number of issues that would make me question whether or not to use them for another project. For instance, we decided on a thin, pull-out cabinet (for spices) next to a wall, with the microwave on the adjacent side. Not only was the wall going to block most of one side of the pull-out, but the microwave we finally decided on was larger than typical, so it stuck out further, basically blocking the majority of the other side of the pull-out, making that pull-out almost useless. Not being much of a blueprints person, I didn't realize this until actually seeing the cabinet in place, so we had Kopke change the pull-out to a normal cabinet. Nobody from Kopke brought this up as a possible issue during design, and seemed surprised when they saw it for themselves. There were a couple other similar issues where I surprised nobody mentioned anything...almost like they were just saying yes to anything we wanted, whether it was going to actually work or not. We also had a question regarding fees on a city permit. Our city bases their fees on overall project cost and we were being charged fees for a higher total. According to Kopke, they never included a total project cost when submitting the permit application, so I wanted to find out how the city came up with the total cost they were basing their fees on. Only after a couple weeks of going in circles, and finally getting a copy of the permit application from the city (Kopke did not have a copy), did I see there WAS an overall project cost on the application. After asking Kopke about it, they told me they did include the overall project cost after all. Kopke did end up refunding the difference, but this whole issue could have been avoided from the start...why did they tell me they don't include a total project cost on permit applications? But on a good note, I felt our project manager was bending over backwards at times to help in any way he could to resolve issues and get things done. And we appreciate him for it. Unfortunately, I found out he no longer works at Kopke. No idea what happened. I reached out to him after receiving a notice from Kopke about a final payment due. That's when he told me he no longer worked with the company. And nobody at Kopke bothered reaching out to let me know or put me in contact with a new PM. I also tried contacting our consultant and couldn't get a hold of her....tried emailing, texting and calling over a two-week period, nothing. Maybe she no longer works there either? There were a couple more issues, but I think this review is long enough to give you an overall idea of the company. I expect ups and downs on a remodel project of any kind, but if we ever do another remodel project, I think I'll look at other companies before returning to Kopke. read more

Caution! They Piss on Your Back and Tell You It's Raining! I told Allan Kopke about how great the new kitchen people are and he told me," Yeah you 'd like any guy who comes in with a hammer!" I had these people come out to fix a leak in my ceiling, price some updates jobs on my exterior of my house and a kitchen "remodel". . One employee looked at my kitchen and leek problem while another employee who was doing the "design for the exterior of my house, (all I wanted was some decorative details over two windows and the front door) WAS TRYING TO GET ME TO BUY $14,000 WORTH OF NEW WINDOWS!! To be nice and concerned I asked her how much each window costs. She could not answer me. I figured she wanted $1000 a window because I have 14 Windows! I have different size windows, some will cost more than others. Once I had Anderson Windows come out and they gave me an estimate for windows and it was way less than $14,000. The first sign of padding the costs. The first thing I told them is that I wanted the stove to be put in the middle rather than hanging on the end next to the entrance. I asked me how much the kitchen would cost. In unison they both said that an average kitchen is $35,000. My kitchen is small common sense tells an individual that it can't be that expensive! They gave me a cost. Ok I can live with it. Then I found out that they didn't even think of to price out a back spash! When I told them that there was no back splash in my "Ta Da! kitchen" it seemed to me the Allan took a number out of the air and added another $1000 to the price. They wanted $500 fee so they will show you what your kitchen will look like, and Rebeca the designer tells you that you will get a complete computer 3D print out of your "new" kitchen. "They'll be so good you can take them to any place to get a new kitchen if you don't want to go with us." Well unfortunately I gave them the $500 and they had me come to the show room for a dog and pony show fortunately I had my friend come to see this) They didn't know how to work the computer and the screen to show me this great 3D kitchen. Do you know what I got? They gave me my same kitchen, same layout with just different cabinet doors. No new designs as they promised at all. They measurements weren't even correct! I couldn't even take these plans to some one else to do my kitchen. THE STOVE WAS NOT EVEN MOVED TO THE MIDDLE!!!! I asked them how much the cabinets were, and how much the outside work was and they could not give me an itemized price on anything! How can I make correct decisions if I don't how much things cost? They started to ask me for the down payment. I kept asking for the real prices of everything. They said that they will come back with some numbers, and they will call me to come out to the house to discuss them. She came out later and said that the cabinets were one lump price and the labor was this lump price and that was just in case that they found out something major when they opened up the kitchen. What horrid thing can they find when they are taking down cabinets? My house is just old but made well and in good shape. One of them came out with a sample and she was two hours late. She was there to pick up the samples and to get the signature that I picked them out. She asked me for the the down payment and I gave it to her. It's easier to trust people than to not trust them. She said that she would call to have me come out to the showroom. Nothing happened for a week. After two weeks I called. I told some one who worked there with the initials N.D. How frustrated I was then she set up a meeting with me at the show room. I met with every one to design my kitchen. They had my kitchen "design"in front of them and MY STOVE WAS STILL NOT IN THE MIDDLE!! We worked on the design, and one women told me that who ever designed my kitchen did a great job and that I shouldn't have crown moldings but would be better with wallpaper trim. I asked them how much each cabinet was, they couldn't answer me. Rebecca then told me that all the drawers were not to match the cabinets and were going to be plain because of the knobs and handles. I said that was unacceptable how much to get the drawers matching the cabinets. They said $30 a drawer. I happened to mention that the people were coming out to clean my gutters. The girl who came out to do the outside design of my house said,"Don't bother with that because you're getting new gutters". I told her I didn't want new gutters and they are again forcing on me what I didn't want! STOVE IN THE MIDDLE? WHY CANT I GET CROWN MOLDING? I HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL THEM I DON'T WANT GUTTERS! Then they send the project manager over to my house redo the measurements. Then I get a call that if I wanted what I wanted it would be $5000 more! Very poor costumer service and no follow up. Eric came to my house to quote an extensive remodeling project of the outside and inside of the house. He stated that because there was so much complex work he needed to bring a construction manager with him in order to quote the job appropriately. Well a few weeks went by and he never called back or stopped by, I called him and he said he was sick but is better now and will call me back tomorrow to schedule the return visit. A few more weeks went by ( now over 6 weeks) so I called the office back Julie answered the phone and said either Eric or her will call me back that day with answers. It's now been almost another week and neither of them called me back. This would have been easily over $100,000 job but I guess they don't need the work. read more

We had Kopke come out for a few things we wanted done which included outdoor electrical, minor plumbing and a bathroom remodel, from a referral we received from our neighborhood group. They came out took quite some time talking to us and giving us approximate verbal quotes, which were overpriced. They assured us that we would receive a quote via email, and we never received one, even after calling and inquiring. We saw them set up at a recent home show and told them about our experience and also told them that it was horrible customer service, they didn't seem to care. Our feeling is this: They sub out all of their work, which drives up the price. Do your homework, hire reputable professionals that specialize in one area, the little guys. WOW...and NOT in a GOOD way. We are having some remodeling done and have called a few contractors to quote prices for specific jobs that need to be handled. My husband and I couldn't help but laugh after their representative came out. He stayed two hours and spent 95% of the time talking up his company and the various jobs they've done- other than that he had no real clue on what he was doing. He walked around "measured" the floor (and exclaimed about how cool his little laser was) and basically just puffed himself up...when it came down to dollars here's what he came up with (oh and it looked like he was just making it up as he went along...just pulling numbers out of his...well you know) Our full bath needs a new standard tub and surround- that's it...nothing else, nothing special- his quote? $8,000! lol...next new flooring for our first floor (about 820 square feet) we wanted laminate...his quote...hold on to your hats - $15,000!! We've gotten other quotes for the same job from 3 other companies and they all come in at about $4,000-$6,000. Moving on to the kitchen- new counters and sink/fixtures...$10,000 just for labor (materials were going to be extra!! haha). This is a job that has been quoted by other companies at $3,000-$4,000. Finally, we had some basic painting needed in a few areas- nothing huge, no vaulted ceilings etc...are you ready for this- $4,000! Our normal painter guy came out and said it was an $800-$1,200 job...sigh. Laughable, sad...and a waste of time. Don't bother with this crew. read more

They didn't give us what was promised. The sales guy, Richard, had all these great ideas to make our kitchen more functional. But in the end he didnt communicate it to the contractors doing the work so we ended up getting charged more to end up with the same layout we started with There would be days and weeks where maybe 1 guy would come for 3-4 hours to work on it. It took them over 3 months to complete a very small kitchen. The guys doing the work told us many customers were unhappy bc there wasnt enough man power and things were falling thru the cracks. The workers also told us we were getting screwed over and told us to voice our frustrations. We loved the guys that did the work, but the cupboards they used were cheap and they screwed us over in the end. I'm only writing this review in hopes that nobody else has to experience what we went thru. Plus Kopke isn't cheap and we thought we would pay more to get a quality job...NOT THE CASE!! read more

Hard to recommend a company who comes out to estimate, promises a quote within the week, then disappears. We wanted two walls worth of windows/doorwalls - the estimator measured only one wall. This would be a $15 - $18K job (per the estimator's on-the-spot guesstimate), but apparently, not worth Kopke's time to follow up. Their listed phone number auto-transfers you to another number and asks you to record a message, with no identifying greeting - not even sure it's a valid number. Read the reviews, especially "Rhonda R"s of 1/26/16, and Dave Kopke's response of 4/14 where he tries to deflect blame to the customer - all you need to know about a company that failed at every step (bad management, in other words). read more

Worst experience ever, they didn't even keep their own word and lied to me about an estimate that was $15,000 cheaper than what it was to cost when i ask them that everything needs to be on piece of paper for me to sign. Customer service was terrible too, really hard to get hold of them. The sales lady Rebecca she came out to give us estimate of addition for family room, she said $20,000. After wasting 2 weeks another lady calls and tells me it would cost me $35,000 for that addition, I said the estimate was $20,000. SO she goes that was just an estimate, if that's what they call estimate, I wonder how many people they lied to and added the cost after starting the Job.
