Waited over 5 hours to be towed 8 miles. Driver says he showed up, I never saw him. They sent him back again, he never showed up again. After 5 hours they called me and I told them to just forget it, I'll get somebody else to do it the next day. They were going to still charge me 50 percent of the 300 dollar fee to just go 8 miles. I said that I'm not paying anything. He said ok. He called me back a few minutes later and asked if the driver showed up yet. I said no, just cancel it. He said there was a 49 dollar fee I would have to pay. I said I'm not paying anything, I'll take you to court. He said ok, you'll get a full refund. We'll see how that turns out. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. I was in an accident caused by an unpaved snowy road and a cop called Ryan's for me. The man said nothing to me, put my car on the truck and was going to leave without talking to me. I specifically asked if there was any information I needed and the tow truck gave me nothing. I had to search down where my car was taken. I called a few days later and asked to get it towed to an auto shop. And found out they charged me over 1500 in storage and towing fees. Even though they didn't verbally inform me of that AND their sign in front of their lot does NOT have a storage fee amount. They are manipulating people out of their money. Cash only, plan ahead. The guy who tows the cars is very friendly, just remember the people who manage the spot you parked in, are the ones who towed you. This friendly person just happens to be the one driving the truck. Please treat him well, and you'll have your car back promptly. Pick up spot should be 221 Elmira Rd, please confirm that using the listed number. Even though my car was towed, this guy improved what could have been a completely awful day. read more

Predatory, misrepresentative and unprofessional. A cop called Ryan's for me after an accident. Tow truck gave me no information and didn't take any of my info (I had to guess it was Ryan's and had no idea where my car was). I called a few days later and asked him where it was/to tow it to an auto shop. Little did I know I was being charged for storage (I asked him how much the towing cost and he left that part out, but whatever, that's normal). What really bothered me is that he quoted me $320 for towing both ways plus storage, but when he charged my card, the total was 400. I called and apparently he had "made a math mistake" in the amount of $80 but figured he'd charge me anyway. He also agreed to email me a receipt (which I never received after asking twice more). I was too busy and figured it'd be too much of a hassle to ask my bank to do a charge back but I regret not doing so in the time limit. I'm convinced he's preying on college students who don't know better and have plenty of money to throw around. If you can't do math yourself, just admit it and don't give me the quote over the phone. Crooked company. Paid and asked for a receipt. Amount on recwipt was different than amount quoted and when I asked for my money back he said that he wasn't paying attention and wasn't sure how much I gave him. I'm filing a complaint with the city and state and asking that their license be revoked as clearly this place is a scam. SMH. read more

My truck broke down in Ithaca on a Sunday (in front of Stewart Park). I called other towing companies but they seemed bothered to get a call. Ryan's Towing quoted me a good rate and was at my disabled vehicle fairly quickly. Professional and courteous service. They took credit cards and did a very good job transporting my vehicle and me to the repair shop. Their tow vehicle looked in very good condition (newer vehicle and looked well maintained). We had a bad experience where we were overcharged. The company would not call back to resolve the matter, and the City of Ithaca was told by Ryan's they charged us extra because we had to retrieve items from our car for the next day, then picked it up the next day--didn't make sense. Why would we get a ride to their lot to take things from our car and not drive it out of there? We only went once and will never use them if our cars are in need of assistance. read more

I called after midnight on New Year's Eve when my daughter's friend mired his car in our yard (it had been raining all day & night). Driver arrived quickly, was super-nice, and got the very stuck car out with no problem. They were the 3rd place I called that night - other places weren't answering- but will be the first ones I call if I ever need a tow in the future. read more

I was dumb and drove into a muddy field I couldn't get myself out of. Ryan's Towing Service arrived promptly and the gentleman who came was really kind. He explained how he was going to pull the car out; what I should expect (I was sitting in the car) as it was towed; and gave clear directions about what he needed of me in terms of steering; and, when I was back on the road, he explained that the car may shake a bit as I drove home due to the mud in the wheels. He did a great job of making a stressful experience less so, and I will definitely be calling them if I need help in the future. read more

My car was towed on account of being unknowingly parked in the wrong zone.They will charge you well over one hundred dollars for the vital service of stealing your goddamn car and then refuse to negotiate their blatant extortion to any degree. Any attempt to negotiate anything other that straight up cash (they accept nothing else, probably because transactions via card leave documentation) with no receipt of the exchange lead to the driver threatening to leave. A simple request to verify for myself that they had not damaged my car in anyway before I gave them half of my rent in cash was denied, and a lot of talk about how they're "just doing their job" by waking up each morning to steal your stuff instead of doing something productive. A bunch of scum making their living off property theft with the protection of the police. Call someone who deserves the money if you actually need a tow yourself, this is a business that deserves to fail. read more
