This was our first time at KouYou. It was so delicious! I truly don't expect much from Asian buffets having been disappointed more often than not. But every bite I ate was delicious. Even the few items I wouldn't choose again were good, just not preferred. My brother recommends the hibachi. I recommend the sushi! On the buffet favorites included the white fish, the Mongolian beef, the spare ribs, the salmon, and the stir-fried veggies. Absolutely everything had maximum flavor. The service was standard for a buffet. The servers who took care of us were pleasant, helpful, and quick enough. The ambiance is pretty with Japanese decor everywhere, and lovely color around the buffet area, adding to the level of appetizing appeal. The noise level is high, but conversation is not difficult. This was a cute place I looked up on yelp for a causal Mother's Day dinner , when I was younger we always did Chinese buffets they had ample sushi and other hot food. The food overall was very good. There were a few misses which you learn to avoid. Examples: the fried food doesn't move fast enough to stay crispy. Some of the desserts are lacking flavor. We enjoyed the buffet during our visit. They offer everything from salads, sushi, appetizers, meats, vegetables and desserts. They have a nice selection to choose from. We enjoyed many items and all were very good. The only thing I found to be a bit tasteless was the desserts. Kind of weird. The food is decent especially for the price. There is a language problem with some of the staff seeming to not understand English. I am not sure they don't , but it comes in handy when there's a problem. I printed a 10% off coupon from their website, but they claimed it wasn't valid. That it in fact had expired tree years ago because there was a tiny "3y" on it. Just that, nothing else. My repeated demand that they remove it from the website was met with blank stares. Kouyou has an extensive buffet with more of a selection of seafood items and sushi than any other buffet I have been to. There are tons of tables with really comfortable seats, great for groups. There are many TVs (a long time ago this was a sports bar). The food is good, service great and the price is $25 for adults. Tea and drinks are extra. Kouyou has received a lot of good reviews (I did check before I dined here). There is parking in the plaza area and Kouyou is visible from the street. Not hard to miss. read more

Came by with the family on Christmas night after reading some of my fellow YELPERS review and I must say our experience wasn't exactly thrilling. There were 6 of us and on arriving we were seated in the most cramped table in the room which we immediately changed. For starters I tried the Sushi section and it was just OK, the selection was average with nothing I would want to go back for seconds. The Chinese food section was also very average with quite a few dishes needing fresh refills. The soups were decent and the dessert section was average. I tried the Hibachi Shrimp and steak combo and was not thrilled, the fried rice was very tasty and probably my favorite. This restaurant is owned by the You family. According to the restaurants website, this is the family's first restaurant. This is one of the pricier buffet options in our area so I was expecting a lot. My weeknight dinner was $20.95. A weekend dinner is $23.95 while lunch runs $13.95. They have sushi, hot foods, cold seafood, and dessert. The sushi selection was nice. They had a lot of choices and everything seemed very fresh. If you go out for just sushi it can be pricey so this restaurant is a good option for the sushi fan. I didn't try the hibachi but they had a varied selection of raw meats, vegetables, and noodles. The chef was on hand to cook your food so you didn't have to go looking for him like at some places. The hot food was okay. None of it was cooked very well. My favorite was the Thai coconut shrimp. The meat was tough and dry and the options were the same you can find at any other buffet. The salt and pepper shrimp was excellent but the eggplant was too mushy. I was most interested in the seafood. The peel and eat shrimp were small and didn't seem all that fresh and the snow crab legs had been previously frozen and I have had much better on the buffet line. They also didn't refill the snow crab legs very often. Dessert was ice cream and a small cake selection. It is pretty much the same dessert you would find at any Asian buffet. On the positive side the restaurant is very clean and nice. The servers were so friendly and always had a big smile. They were very prompt about cleaning the dishes away. Friday night dinner out so decided to try this new spot out. I would say it's ok not anything to special. The food on the buffet could have definitely been hotter. We went at 7:45 p.m. and there shouldn't have been an issue with keeping it hot yet it was barely warm. The selection was minimal tonight. Sushi is good but honestly there are two other local spots that hit my five star rating. This place didn't even have fortune cookies. That's one of our favorite things to do end a meal like this with as we crack them and read our fortune's and put in bed at the end of it for a good chuckle. The salad bar is not labeled at all and I actually tried what LOOKED to be vanilla pudding and ended up being banana pudding which unfortunately I'm allergic to bananas so that was a downer. The price is rather high for the quality of food. Service was good. Staff are friendly and the place is clean so they hit a solid three star rating. I read many of the reviews before I went to this restaurant. I will provide my experience. Upon entering there was a pretty long line outside, I figured that was a good sign.. right? Well on the contrary, the not so friendly host was taking her time seating people, because she was very particular as to who and how many she placed at each table. The host point to a two seat table in a corner next to what appeared to be a larger party, I asked to be seated elsewhere because why place us in such close proximity to a larger party, in a corner. There were MANY open tables, we asked to be seated at one of the few open booths and her first response a hard No, because we were only two and the booth holds four when my husband brought it to her attention all the others sitting in the booth were also a party of two. She then agreed to allow us to sit there. The food.... Many buffet items were out and they're not very quick to replenish. The sushi was just OK definitely not the freshest sushi I've had. I tried a piece of seared tuna, which was not edible as a matter of fact, I had to discard it in a napkin. The server was excellent, always had a smile on her face, came to the table very often. The waitress sat my party of 2 down at a booth and service us right away. The food options were plentiful and all delicious. I love the amount of sashimi and sushi they had and the variations of Chinese food. They have a hibachi grill and a seafood bar too. The raw oyster was clean but didn't have any taste so I squirt lemon to make it taste better. The sugar dough balls were soft and fluffy. The only thing I wish they had was ingredients listed underneath the sushi because I'm allergic to shrimp and I had to examine each sushi piece carefully.
