So, I've driven past this place nearly everyday during my commute to/from work and made a mental note to put it on my "To Try" list. I finally went in and I'm so very glad I did!!! I ordered hot lemon pepper wings with house special fried rice, hot honey garlic with the same rice, and as a litmus test - an order of plain flats. NOTHING DISAPPOINTED!!! These folks do what they do (wings & fried rice) and they do it well. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is IMMACULATE and the food is GREAT! The wings were crisp, meaty, juicy and not overly sauced. The sauces had just the right amount of seasoning and heat, and the rice was expertly cooked! We heard about Happy Wings & Fried Rice from two coworkers. Those guys crowed about the restaurant from the top of the house! So we decided to see about it for ourselves one Saturday afternoon. Both of them warned us it was in "da hood". One even recounted a gunshots incident a la "Boyz in the Hood" that made even duck or run for cover! This is one of those restaurants that YELP should add to as a "Best Hole-in-the-Wall restaurants" category. Despite it being where it is, please do not let that dissuade you from going. No lie. We went there early one Sunday morning [11:39 AM], saw about 15 questionable characters hanging around, and made a U-turn. Sandwiched between a food store and a urban wear store, this is expected. Just go, and get out if you feel comfortable. You can even order ahead. Speaking of sandwiched, there are 2-3 seats inside. And with the incredibly small amount of space between the front door and the order counter, you might feel like a sardine in a can, if you wait inside for your order. We received a happy greeting, which is important for us. The variety of wing flavors can be overwhelming [same as with Perry Wings], especially when you factor in the heat levels. As with most places that serve flavored chicken wings with a plethora of choices, you can mix flavors. But we really didn't go for the wings. We went for the House Special Rice! THAT rice separates this place from all other run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurants! THAT rice AND the amount of it you get with your order. This is a soul food Chinese restaurant. The fried rice is also great - we went with the special house rice which comes with shrimp, ham, chicken, krab and more! So tasty! The service is so-so. I don't understand why this place doesn't have higher reviews, well maybe because the people who eat here don't utilize Yelp, which is a bummer because they would tell you that this place is amazing! Happy Wings is located between a corner store that sells chips and drinks and other gas station items (it is not a gas station), an urban clothing store (which is odd, but it always has a lot of customers) and a hair store which is always packed. The last time I was here I ordered a SMALL veggie fried rice and I had to put small in capital letters because when I received my order I was confused. My order of veggie fried rice filled the entire take out box that it was served in, I had fried rice to last me 2 more meals, but I'm a lite eater. Plus it was the best fried rice that I had had in a long time. They use bell peppers, red peppers, onion, corn and a whole bunch of other delicious vegetables, plus eggs. In the past, I used to get Happy Wings all the time. There came a point where the rice always seemed to come out hard and so I stopped going. I was craving it again and decided to give it another shot and I'm happy I did. It was even better than before when the rice wasn't coming out hard. The wings were amazing, very crispy and large. Because it is at the location it is at, I never cared to comment on how the lady who used to work the counter seemed miserable. However, that completely changed also. The new lady is so pleasant and friendly. The only reason this was not 5 stars is because they're out of a lot of things such as egg rolls, spring rolls, etc. I'm most of the time when I order. Also, the hot sauce is on a chain. I understand and wouldn't remove any points for this but it definitely contributes to the ambiance. Lastly, there were quite a few flies but the back where food was cooking seemed to be bug-free. It's a nice hole-in-the-wall and is affordable for a good, hot meal. Worth trying! read more

I love this place... It is located in Pompano Beach, FL on what is affectionately called "The dirty corner". We use to drive all the way from Miami to get these wings but we now live in Broward so its not that far but well worth the drive. I recently ordered for a birthday party and it was an absolute hit! The wings are done well, but you ha e to selective in the sauces, they are dipped and drenched in whatever flavor you decide to get, which certainly favor them but that is as far as it goes.
