This is a late review, but I feel it's important to share what happened. (6997 w commercial Blvd Tamarac Fl) My girlfriend and I visited this Chow Time location twice within about a week, spending well over $100 between the two visits. The food was decent, and while the desserts tasted store-bought, the food is not why I'm leaving this review. The reason is how we were treated. While we were still sitting at our table eating dessert, another employee politely brought us the check and said, "Thank you. Pay whenever you're ready." That was professional and exactly how it should have been handled. Less than 10 minutes later, our waitress came back to our table, even though she had already seen the other employee deliver the check. She shook the checkbook in front of us and asked if we were going to pay. We were literally still eating dessert. We had not been sitting there for an unreasonable amount of time, nor had we given anyone a reason to believe we intended to leave without paying. What made this even more disturbing was that there were customers of other races who had been seated longer than we had, yet they were not approached or pressured to pay. As a Black man, I have experienced similar treatment before, particularly at some Asian-owned restaurants. On one occasion at a different restaurant, I was even followed into the men's restroom by a waitress asking if I was going to pay. I usually don't complain & ai have never really pulled the race card because I often feel nothing will change, but this experience was the last straw. From my perspective, we were singled out because we are Black. I cannot say what was in the waitress's mind, but I know how we were treated, and it was humiliating, disrespectful, and completely unnecessary. No customer should be made to feel like they're under suspicion simply because they're enjoying the end of their meal. I tried to resolve this professionally by calling the restaurant and speaking with the manager. Instead of listening to my concerns, she was dismissive, refused to provide the owner's contact information, and ultimately hung up on me. That response only reinforced my disappointment. This review is not about getting free food or seeking attention. It's about being treated with the same dignity and respect as every other paying customer. If the owner truly values every guest, I hope they read this and contact me directly because this experience deserves to be addressed. Until then, I cannot recommend this restaurant (especially to black people) based on how we were treated. I always see people going in there and I never went in. I finally tried it with my friends and I wasn't disappointed at all! It was a clean location. It was pretty in there and very spacious. I loved when your walking in they have amazing size statues and shine. From the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside it's classy. My waitress was nice and the host. I have been to this restaurant many times and always enjoyed all the variety they have. My son loves the sushi and sashimi they have . However, yesterday we went after another excursion on the way home. We arrived at 630pm Half of the items were empty. I just took whatever was there but twice I went up and not filled and the worse part of it was 80 percent of what I had both times was completely cold only the veggies were hot and the salmon was not cooked thoroughly. I told the gentlemen by the counter and he basically said " they are supposed to fill it up" no apologies or anything done. The last time I decided to go it was now filled but now I lost my appetite and wasn't really hungry so just took a few items . Another customer was standing there and I guess waiting because she said she experienced the same thing . I would think at that peak time everything should be filled and cooked . Next time I will know to not serve myself if it's not even half full . Pictures I took were after it was filled up , I was just hungry so didn't think of taking the photos the 2nd time not thinking it was cold . So I decided to take photos on my 3rd trip to see and by that time it was filled up half hour later when I'm already to leave . Dined here on a Wednesday afternoon about 2p. We did not have a wait to be seated, and the restaurant was half full, but soon more patrons entered. I'm surprised at how many people eat late lunches. The food trays were filled at all times. Everything was hot and fresh. We tried the grill where you pick your meats and veggies and take it to the cook to grill for you and he adds your sauces based on spicy or not. We chose noodles with our mix and that was really good. First asian buffet I've been to where they serve pork eggrolls! They also had the normal veggie spring roll as well. The price was very reasonable for lunch, with the selections they offer it's by far the best buffet I been to. Careful though, because we ran into the dinner time, they set out crab, and those wait staff are really on it. If you took crab, you were warned you would pay dinner price even though you went for lunch. I used to come here often as this was around the corner from my house, but I have since moved twice and now I'm about 10 minutes away, so I pop in and out of this location. I have not had any issues. I've always been seated right away, my drinks on the table by the time I get back from the buffet and I typically always get the same waitress and she's always super nice and attentive. I used to eat the buffet a lot, but now I do the hibachi, I love the fact that it's almost fresh food being cooked in front of me and seasoned how I like it. I do get a few things from the buffet like the fried crabs, that is my favorite part, some shrimp, sushi, egg rolls, things like that. I was pretty bummed to read a few comments down about the discrimination, that was pretty hurtful, as I am an Afro Caribbean woman. And I do get the area that we are in and unfortunately a lot of African-Americans like to run out on the bill but to blatantly discriminate against black men coming in for lunch on their lunch break and racially profiling them is definitely wrong and I don't think that I can support a business that can outright do that. To Whom It May Concern, Chow Time Restaurant - 6997 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, FL 33319 I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience my family and I had at your Commercial Boulevard location. We have been loyal patrons of the Chow Time restaurant in Pembroke Pines and have always appreciated the respectful service, welcoming atmosphere, and attentiveness of the staff. Unfortunately, the experience at your Tamarac location was the complete opposite and left us disappointed and disturbed. From the moment we walked in, we were met with an unwelcoming and unprofessional attitude from the host, Buena. The very first words out of her mouth were, "This is Dinner time," spoken with a visible attitude and no sense of hospitality. We chose to overlook the comment, hoping the service would improve. However, when Buena came to take our drink order, one of my family members politely remarked that she could at least smile. Her response was, "I don't need to smile," delivered in an unnecessarily rude and defensive tone. This behavior is not only unprofessional but also reflects very poorly on your establishment's customer service standards. Things only got worse from there. Buena threw the receipt on the table without a word, and we were left waiting at least 10 to 15 minutes without a single server approaching us. No one brought silverware, no one asked if we needed refills, and no waitress or waiter was ever assigned to our table. This was beyond unacceptable. At that point, I got up to speak with the manager. To her credit, the manager was courteous and attempted to resolve the situation, and we appreciated her professionalism. However, by then, the damage was already done. Despite our better judgment, we decided to stay--but even after speaking with the manager, we still received no table service. One of my family members ordered hot tea, and when it finally arrived, the cup had a lipstick stain on it. This is a clear sign of unsanitary practices, and we immediately brought it to the manager's attention. By that point, we had completely lost our appetite and left extremely dissatisfied. This was, without question, one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Not only was the service unacceptable, but the attitude of the host was offensive and dismissive. It is clear that this location does not hold itself to the same standards as your Pembroke Pines location, where we have always been treated with dignity and respect--regardless of who we are. After this experience, I looked into public reviews of this location and was not surprised to see a pattern of complaints about poor service, rude staff, and unhygienic conditions. We are not the only ones who have had such issues, which suggests a much larger management and training problem. I hope you take this feedback seriously. We are still hopeful that Chow Time as a brand values its customers and will work to improve the training and accountability of staff, particularly at this location. read more

I went with my family after a funeral service and the service and food were terrible. everything was cold and tasted almost good. the server also withheld metal forks from multiple tables.When we asked for metal ones because the plastic ones given were miniature, they said they were out. Stopped at this buffet for lunch yesterday. They offer several soups, real sushi, clams, Peel and Eat shrimp, mussels, Asian dishes, salad and deserts. It is an all you can eat restaurant, and the only requirement that they have is that you finish what is on your plate. The price for lunch M-F is $11.99 plus tax. First timer at Chow Time. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and it was not busy when we arrived but by the time we left, it was very busy at the buffet line. The buffet is $17.99 all day. They had everything in the buffet from sushi to Chinese favorites, to salad to pizza to desserts. There was a nice selection of raw meats that you could select for the hibachi. The layout of all the different buffet stations made for an easy flow and no lines. Serving trays were consistently full during my visit. Hot food could have been warmer but it is a buffet after all. They serve beer and wine. They want to make sure that you do not waste, so they will charge you $8.99 a pound if you leave food on your plate. Service was efficient, our dirty plates were removed, timely, and our drinks were filled before they were empty. The restaurant is lean and well maintained. Honestly a great buffet, especially at under $20 all day per person. They have a wide selection that I was impressed with. They have an entire sushi bar, hibachi bar, dessert bar, and 4 different bar sections of food in the middle. Plenty of meat and seafood options. Also there was plenty of seating available and the design of the buffet is actually quite nice. They have put a lot of work into it. I personally loved the teriyaki chicken as it was marinated and cooked to perfection. The sushi was all fresh but there was cream cheese in like 75% of the rolls so I was a little disappointed. They had tuna, salmon, and a few others for sashimi, while the nigiri had shrimp, salmon, tuna, and a few others as well. The hibachi grill was convenient but the meat was cooked to their specifications and not necessarily what we would have done. Service was fast and everyone was kind. I was so looking forward to eating lunch at Chow Time. The price for a senior in September 2025 is now $12.49. The hostess took me to a table and got my drink order. My waitress brought me my drink. She was extremely attentive clearing plates as I finished and filling my drink glass. The service and atmosphere were excellent. The booth was comfortable. So why a 2 star rating. It all comes down to the quality of the food. I was extremely disappointed with both the taste and the texture of the food. The peel and eat shrimp were large. The problem was the cocktail sauce was too sweet. It needed some more horseradish. The sushi rolls were not labeled. Many looked similar to each other. Some tasted fantastic. Others I detested. What a nightmare wanting to spit them out on my plate. There was only one choice of shashimi, shrimp. Big deal when you have peel and eat shrimp available. The seaweed salad and kimchi were very tasty. The cucumber and tomato salad hadn't been marinated long. No flavor at all. I usually get the hot and sour soup, but did not think my shrinking stomach could handle soup and the hot dishes. Their breaded shrimp is a winner especially if you cover it with some sweet and sour sauce to give it flavor. Their sweet and sour chicken is very good but mostly batter. Would be nice if there was more chicken and less batter. Their bbq pork is usually on the fatty side and you end up with pieces that are inedible. The pieces you can eat are very good. They have a unique tiny shrimp enclosed with "mystery seafood" and I think breadcrumbs. I like it if you add some flavor to it. Otherwise it is very dry. The shrimp inside is minuscule and such a disappointment. They had pork that was excellent. The skin was charred on one side and just peeled off. The meat was tender and worth going back to get more. I have given up trying to eat the typical Chinese dishes at Chow Time such as Chicken & Broccoli, Beef & Onions, General Tso & Pineapple Chicken. They just aren't prepared well and don't taste at all good. On the other hand,the chicken on a stick, without a stick, is meaty but terribly dry. Could use more flavor. Still enjoyable to eat. Both the bbq wings and lemon wings were delicious. Once again, they are dry and you will need to get some sauces to add some extra flavor. Where is the egg foo young instead of the pizza and fries? I hope the quality returns to what I expect or I will no longer be eating here. read more

I came here with my hubby and sister in law for lunch for $11.99 each. They had a large selection of food from seafood, chicken, pork, hibachi, sushi and more. They had a hibachi station where you customize your own stir fry. The service was great and has lots of parking. The place big and had many dining rooms. I would definitely return. BEWARE they will charge a hefty 9$ per pound for excess leftover. A tip is just to grab a little portion of the item and head back if it's up to par. This is the first time I have been to a buffet since Covid. This is a pretty good option if you like an Asian buffet. Before you sit down they do a temperature check and give you a squirt of antibacterial. It's only $14 and they have a wide selection of sushi, hibachi, and a variety of meat, vegetables, noodles, and rice. Dessert is the usual cakes, pudding, and ice cream. Due to Covid some adjustments have been made. You go one way down the buffet line. You no longer serve yourself, they serve you and they give generous portions. Several times I asked for less food. The only thing you serve yourself is the hibachi and they provide gloves for that. If you have been missing buffets you can eat here and feel safe knowing they are taking every precaution. read more

Monday night I met a friend for dinner at Chow Time Grill and Buffet. This was my third visit to the establishment and I was really looking forward to it until I witnessed a family feeding their DOG from a spoon at their table. When I summoned the manager I was very annoyed when he replied that the DOG was a service dog so there was nothing they could do. GUESS WHO WON'T BE VISITING THIS ESTABLISHMENT EVER AGAIN!!!!
