After the tour, we got to try seven different chocolates, including flavors like coffee, mango, and sugar-free. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful compared to your typical Hershey bar. The tasting after the orchard tour was in a tree house above the orchards offering beautiful views of the orchard, views of Molokai and Lanai. Once you have tasted Maui Chocolate you won't eat anything else, you shouldn't because you are eating pure coco with only natural ingredients prepared the Maui Chocolate way. Do the tour, whether it's the factory tour or the orchard tour (I am a freak about gardening and growing) so I wanted to learn more about the trees and methods and I truly learned a lot about their natural growing methods. This is a great place to buy souvenirs for yourself and others and most of the items don't take up too much space in the luggage! My only thing is that certain vendors sell similar items and their prices can be different. For example, I bought items from one vendor then found them at another vendor for a lesser price. So I recommend browsing all the booths before making any purchases. The vendors are nice though and are happy to let you know about their products! Happy shopping!

Immediately we saw some sea turtles; and likely saw at least half a dozen turtles during our 30 minutes there! It's definitely called turtle town for a reason. We also saw various fish, a reef shark, and got up close to these turtles, it was amazing. We were so close that we can probably reach out and almost touch them! The whole family had so much fun; definitely recommend this spot to swim with turtles.

We also had the farm-to-table brunch, and the food was absolutely incredible fresh, delicious, and one of the highlights of the tour. I actually left wanting to go home, eat healthier, and start a garden! If you're in Maui, don't pass this one up. Great tour, amazing brunch, beautiful setting, and a fantastic experience. We paid for three full spots for myself, my husband, and my mom. Based on the description of a walking farm tour, we expected a more immersive experience moving through the farm and exploring. Instead, the tour felt much slower paced and involved a lot more standing and listening than we anticipated. Our guide also seemed to lose his train of thought several times, which made the pace feel even slower. We were traveling with our toddler, and once he started having a hard time with the pace, my husband and I took turns leaving the tour and sitting in the car with him so we would not disrupt the other guests. We were trying very hard to be considerate of everyone else while still getting as much out of the experience as we could. I went to speak with staff twice while we were there because I was clearly struggling and trying to figure out what our options were. When I asked about a partial refund, I was told that they expect families to be flexible. We were extremely flexible. We took turns missing parts of the tour, separated from each other, and ultimately left only when our toddler became so exhausted and upset that staying through the meal was no longer realistic. What disappointed me most was the lack of effort to help us find any kind of solution. We paid for three full experiences and ultimately missed the entire meal portion. We were not offered food to go, a chance to come back later for the meal, a rescheduled visit, a credit, or any other accommodation. I understand now that the meal is served in multiple courses and may not have been easy to package all at once, but none of that was explained to us while we were there and no alternative was suggested. I also don't think it should fall entirely on a distressed guest, who has already spent a significant amount of money, to come up with every possible way the business could help. A professional business could have offered several reasonable options, even if a refund was not possible. The customer service after the visit was also disappointing. I emailed afterward asking management to consider a partial refund and received no response. I had to send a second follow-up email simply to get an answer. Only then was I told that management had reviewed the situation and would not offer any partial refund, credit, rescheduling option, or other accommodation. Management's response emphasized that our family made the decision to leave. Of course we made the decision to leave -- our toddler was exhausted and extremely upset, and we did not want to ruin the experience for everyone else. That decision came after we had already spent a significant portion of the tour taking turns away from the group and after I had spoken with staff more than once trying to find a solution. I completely understand that businesses have policies and that traveling with a toddler comes with unpredictability. My disappointment is not about expecting special treatment. It is about the lack of customer service, flexibility, communication, or goodwill shown both during the experience and afterward. For the price of this experience, I expected better communication and more effort to find a reasonable solution. Having to reach out twice just to receive a response declining any accommodation only added to the disappointment. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled afterward left us with an even worse impression than the tour itself.

Molokai is part…read moreof Maui County, but the geographically isolated Kalawao/Kalaupapa peninsula on the north shore is its own county entity. It's the only county in the USA that is administered by the health department instead of elected officials due to the area's history as a leper colony. It has a storied history, both sad and positive; much more can be said about it than in a short review. To actually see the area, which is open to the public by special appointment, you need to charter a flight or take the donkey trail down the cliffs, which is closed due to a landslide at the time of this writing. For casual visitors, the next best thing is viewing the area from the top of the cliffs at the Kalauapapa Lookout. This area is an easy and beautiful drive from the airport or Kaunakakai. It's a free activity, with ample parking, modern clean restrooms, and a paved walkway for wheelchair or stroller access. The 5 minute walk to the cliff face is through beautiful pine forest; it's quiet and reverent here. The lookout has a rock wall with a number of historic markers that state the history of Kalawao including what life was like for the past and current residents. It's a simply gorgeous view of the ocean, sky, and peninsula. Be sure to walk all the way to the end to the majestic seacliffs of Molokai's north shore. I could have stayed here much longer just to watch the clouds rolling in and out. This is a must-stop attraction while on the island.

We skipped the pricey farm tour (we did coffee farm tours last year and are farmed out) and went straight to the chocolate café. They will give you a five piece tasting for free, either a dark, milk, or sugar-free flight. But why would you come here and just take... When you can also give back to folks in Lahaina rebuilding? So we got two free flights, one milk and one dark. My sweetie added on a drink, a pastry, and some very tasty chocolate and salted caramel gelato. I went with a make your own alcohol pairing, which was so much fun and very reasonable. For about $17, I got a shot of coconut rum with two chocolate pairings and a shot of premium Martiniquan JM volcanic rhum Agricole with another two chocolate pairings. And then I still had my free five pieces. What an amazing taste adventure, for cheaper than the price of a cocktail at a hotel bar or even a locally owned foodie place? I don't want to mess up your tasting - so you pick your favorites! But I normally don't like rhum agricole - and the pairings were such an amazing flavor adventure. Honestly, this is my number one recommendation in West Maui. Give the folks some business and have an amazing time! Oh, and they have jazz on Sunday nights' but I'm sure it's more crowded than than popping in during the day on a weekday. It starts at their building in Lahaina, which has a little café/coffee shop, plenty of chocolate for sale, and a rooftop experience that looked interesting but we didn't get to try. By the time we finished the tour, the kids had reached the "we have successfully experienced enough things today" portion of the vacation. Fair enough. From there, you take a fun little ride out to the cacao farm, and that's where this became much more than "let's go eat some chocolate." Our guide, Andrew (I'm about 95% sure I'm remembering his name correctly!), was fantastic. He seemed genuinely interested in cacao, the process, the company, and what they are doing there. That makes such a difference. He talked about how cacao is grown and processed, the history behind Kuʻia, and a little about founder Dr. Gunars Valkirs and his rather fascinating path to chocolate. Then, of course, there was the tasting. Lots and lots of little squares of chocolate. This is educational work I was willing to undertake. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which particular varieties were my favorites because apparently I was too busy eating them to take adequate scientific notes. What I can tell you is that there really wasn't one I disliked. What surprised me most was how much flavor there could be in chocolate that wasn't buried under a mountain of sugar. The differences and complexity of the cacao actually came through, and it made me think about chocolate completely differently. The chocolate sample they gave us back at the counter was also fantastic, as was the coffee drink we ordered. My only regret is that we didn't buy more chocolate before leaving. Be warned, though: apparently this tour has side effects. I went in expecting a fun Maui family activity where we'd learn a few things and eat some chocolate. I left wondering about cacao varieties, fermentation, processing, climate, chemistry and several other questions that absolutely nobody in my family asked me to investigate. Such a lovely place to watch the sun set, and the nightly traditional evening plunge off black rock. After the sunset show I headed to the bar. I ordered the lilikoi chi chi and it was super fruity and delicious! The service was very friendly and prompt. I met up with some fellow Yelpers and we all had a front row view to the awesome entertainment. Both of the singers were amazing and super entertaining. They took lots of audience suggestions, and they were very lively. I especially enjoyed their original song "Hana Hou!" I ordered a side salad and cheese quesadillas. Both were very yummy! I liked that and the hula dancer doing the hula accompanying the story. There was a musician after the conch and tiki torch lighting. There were not many people ( covid) but he did a decent job although it was loud. The drinks were fine and service average. I did go back a second time because I like the setting.
