Have a Kupcake Kind of Day! Greeted by the writing on the purchased receipt. As you walked in the bakery, it smells so good! Throughout the facility, is the smell of the aroma of cake essence. I had to go back myself and pick the cupcakes myself. It was a wonderful surprise but he did not pick the flavors that I like. So I was working from home 1 day and decided to drop in to pick some up. I ordered a cake, cupcakes, and sugar cookies for my baby shower and wow what a year it has been, I finally got to review this. My baby is almost one and my family and friends are still raving about the goodies Leah made for the baby shower. Everything was sooooo beautiful and delicious. Leah made the cake for my mom's birthday. She customized its look to her expert opinion and made it look so beautiful. Not only was the cake beautiful, (with fresh flowers on top) but it was one of the best tasting cakes I've ever had. Leah made our beautiful wedding cake and was so easy to work with even while coordinating across the country. My cake was everything I could have wanted and more. Amazing unique flavors, rich and creamy frostings, my only disappointment was that I could not eat more. On top of that she makes the best cookies... even when I'm out of state I order her cookies... lets be honest I can't wait till I visit Arizona maybe once or twice a year. Looks Can Be Deceiving.... A Twist on an Old Favorite It has been said that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Well the same can be said about cupcakes! You shouldn't judge a cupcake by its cover. I have to admit Kreative Kupcake Bakery took me by surprise. The cupcakes at Kreative Kupcake Bakery might look simple, but they taste delicious. On my first visit I purchased a half dozen. Even though the decision was hard I went with, Death by Chocolate, Blue Moon, Red Velvet, Chocolate Ganache, Samoa Girl Scout Cookie, and last but not least Caramel-n-Sea Salt. The frosting's were creamy and delicious. The toppings are perfect, not too thick or thin and the cake is so moist and so flavorful. All of the cupcake flavors are equally amazing! However, my favorite was the Samoa Girl Scout Cookie. It is the cupcake version of the Girl Scout Samoa cookie. The combination of chocolate, caramel, and coconut is simply amazing! My mouth is salivating just thinking about my next visit. These cupcakes are definitely at the top of my list as exceptional! So if you get a craving and have to give in to your sweet tooth, give Kreative Kupcake Bakery a try!! read more

Found this cute little shop doing a google search trying to find cupcakes for our wedding. Glad I did. Several unique flavor combinations to choose from. The chocolate cake peanut butter cream was awesome so was the peppermint patti but I have to say my favorite was chocolate cake, chocolate butter cream filled with cinnamon cream and I'm really not a fan of chocolate cake, until now. They also have a menu with several creative sandwiches, next time I have to try the twisted crab..made with a pretzel. If you are ever around the Dysart and Western area in Old Town Avondale stop by for a sugar fix..it will be worth it. read more

Quaint and sinfully delicious!!! The owner is very friendly and is proud of what he has built. As he should be. I had a hard time choosing, but went with the peanut butter chocolate cupcake (you can't go wrong with that!) and the caramel frap cupcake. To die for. The cupcakes are perfectly moist and the frosting is not overpowering as you find in many other establishments. Definitely good cupcakes, but be careful . . . .these babies are powerful rich. I just finished my first, and last, Guinness, chocolate & bacon cupcake. I'm going to stick to the "wuzzie" flavors. But, if you are having a party, event or just a few friends over . . . try some of their normal flavors: red velvet, chocolate, chocolate-raspberry, strawberry, etc., or what the heck, jump right in and surprise your guests and get a few Guinness Stout, chocolate & bacon cupcakes. My sister recently bought a Yellow Butter Cake with chocolate frosting for my Dad's 60th Birthday party, it was round with 4 separate layers, very simple but it's what we wanted since we ordered a personalized cake topper. It was ordered for 22 people but actually ended up feeding 30! The cake was delicious, very moist and not too sweet which we loved! We spoke with Leah a few times and she was so sweet! There's rarely a spot you find in the hood w/ wifi, nice seating and good sweets from cupcakes, cake pops, cakes, cold soda and more! $2.75 for ordinary cupcakes (But not ordinary) $3.75 for premium cupcakes (Super good but kinda small) Great place for a date, ambiance is on point w/ good music, TV and plenty of seating. I came here a while back while in town visiting relatives who lived close by... A cute little shop, we got here when it was close to closing, so we didn't stay too long... The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. Several different unique flavors to choose from, they all were sweet, rich, and moist! We liked the Samoa and also Baileys... I didn't really find many dessert places in the area that wasn't a chain, so this little bakery was such a pleasant treat!... Street parking. read more

I found Leah through my wedding venue & the moment I met her I knew she was the right woman for the job. Her cakes are delicious & her baking history has such a great story, it really hits home for a sentimental junkie like me. When trying to plan my wedding cake she invited me out to her home to drink coffee & eat cake, that's amazing in itself. But her warmth & passion really shine through when you start trying all of the flavor options & creations she makes available. I fell in love with her lemon cake (and will be finding a time to get another one!), it was my favorite. We also decided on coconut & vanilla for our other flavors of our 3 tier cake. There's a beautiful picture that Leah has posted. I knew I wanted something more traditional and wanted to stay away from the fondant (personal preference). When planning she asked about our theme & who we were as people so she could get an idea of what to make. My husband thought she was wonderful too! You just gained new customers! After a bad experience at another new bakery, Dale recommended I try Kreative Kupcakes. (Thank goodness for social networking and Yelp!) My roommate and I headed out there today, and grabbed a few cupcakes. They're a bit pricey, but most gourmet cupcakes are. We purchased Red Velvet, Caramel Frappuccino, Oreo, and Banana Pudding. I'm not gonna lie, I wanted to try them ALL! We hurried home, shared these with my boyfriend, and we were pretty much in heaven. The cupcakes were moist, and fluffy, and the frosting was just the right amount of sweetness. My boyfriend said "Give them 5 stars, that was the best cupcake I've had in a while" My roommate said "I don't normally like frosting, but I could eat this by itself!" The frosting is better than Sprinkles, the cake is just perfection. I'm glad to have found this place especially on the West Valley, and will definitely be coming by again. :) read more

Leah was recommended to us by our previous cake baker who moved away from AZ. We tried 7 of her flavors and fell in love with almost every single one of them! Her cakes are very well-made- so tasty and moist. It tastes like she used the best ingredients and the flavors are perfected. My husband cannot not tolerate sugar, however that does not keep him from craving cake. I have tried to buy him cake anyway and although he appreciates the thought, he just throws them out, because he knows it will be bad for him. I ordered a cake for my dad's 80th birthday. I live in California, and he is in Arizona. Leah was able to accept payment via venmo, bake and deliver my dad's cake-making my life a whole lot easier and his birthday a little brighter. Any time I want a custom / special cake, Leah IS THE ONE! I have ordered several from her and always been surprised at how beautiful they come out. She goes above and beyond my expectations every time. I simply texted her what I wanted and she whipped it up. My Mom was so pleased. (She had told me to get a grocery store bakery cake. Bleh!) Kreative Kupcakes Bakery made my wedding cake and it was THE best cake that I've ever had! They are soo nice and easy to work with. I was looking for a local cupcake place and happened to find Kreative Kupcakes on Yelp. The cupcakes may not look picture perfect like "Sprinkles or Big daddy's cupcakes" but the flavor is far superior. Rather than all the cupcakes looking the same, same style of frosting with just different food coloring and extracts, Kreative Kupcakes appears to put time and care into their "Kupcakes". We ordered the Baileys Irish Creme, Samoa, Bacon and Beer, Lemon, and Chocolate Ganache and everyone here agreed it was the most moist and delightful cupcakes we have ever tasted. The owners were absolutely welcoming and down to earth folks. They even gave my daughter a free Chocolate marshmallow pop. I have used Yelp for a couple of years but have never wrote a review till now. Because the kindness of the owners and the wonderful flavors of the cupcakes, i just had to write a review. The cupcakes here are AMAZING !! I tried the red velvet, peanut butter, coconut, chocolate raspberry, sugar cookie, samoa ( like the girl scout cookie ), and strawberry. All of them were moist and the most divine frosting you can imagine. My favorite was the strawberry, there was fresh strawberry in the frosting and the cake, man that thing was good! The cost per cupcake varied a little...on average they were $2.75 each and well worth every penny. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out. MAJOR YUM. The owners here LOVE food and love what they are doing and it absolutely shows. The creativity (yeah, I know thus the name Kreative Kupcakes) is amazing. The space is small but great inside and the cupcake flavors are not just the regular hum drum. They also do cakes and their desserts are featured in a local restaurant (oh find the cheesecake and try it!)! My favorites so far are the strawberry (white cake) and Chocolate PB. The strawberry was light and had bits of fresh strawberry in the cake and in the icing. The icing is great - not too sweet and not too much - just right. The Chocolate PB was made because of the PB icing.,,luscious peanut butter but not overpowering. Rich dark and dense chocolate taste in the fluffy chocolate cupcake. A young one was with us and they made her feel like a princess. For foodies and anyone needing a cupcake fix or just something to make you smile, this is local talent worth supporting/frequenting. read more

I was looking for a treat to bring my 91 year old grandmother when I came to Arizona to visit. Once again, Yelp steered me to the right place. I went there every day of our vacation, except for Sunday, when they were sadly not not open. The cupcakes were so moist and tasty, and the icings were so rich and dense, and not too sweet. We tried the peanutbutter chocolate, the lemon, seasalt caramel, death by chocolate, strawberry shortcake, peanut butter sugar cookie.... I wish I'd tried the bacon or beer ones, but I ran out of time! Definitely worth the trip! Will be back when I am in town again!! read more

History

Established in 2005.

When my kids were little I started my cupcake business Kreative Kupcakes at home baking for family and friends. After 6 years of baking part time at home I opened my first bakery in Avondale Arizona. In the 6 years of running my bakery I was able to be on the TLC show Four Weddings, Cupcake Wars, Sonoran Living Live and several other shows. In 2012 we won The New Times best of Phoenix award as well as two awards at the Chocolate Affair in Glendale over the next couple years. I have sold my bakery and have started working from home specializing in weddings. I now work under my new name Cakes by Leah and do all custom orders. I look forward to this new direction in 2017. My only problem was with the fact that the cakes did not come in nice box. They were in paper bags. Not a very nice presentation. When we called and asked about it we were told that they were out of boxes. Why wasn't that disclosed to us and something at least a little nicer offered to put the cakes in? So disappointed.

I purchased that one and had high hopes; however, the cake was extremely sweet and tasted very artificial. I was told the cake would have strawberries for the filling but there was none. Lastly, they have gotten very expensive. The cake was $50 and it was one of the smallest. Their medium size cakes are $80. I wouldn't mind the price if the cake were good but it was money gone down the pipe :-( On a brighter note, the decoration was pretty.

After discovering all the different breads they had we decided to take one home with us- jalapeño cheddar and boy was it fabulous! We used it for a grilled cheese one night and turkey sandwich another! The prices here are fair. There is seating if you want to eat there. They also serve coffee/drinks and sourdough pizza but we didn't try any of that. It just gives us an excuse to come back! Customer service was good and fast as well!!

I knew I had to get a few cupcakes for family and the kids so we got 8 cupcakes which was $24 plus tax which came to $26 and change. We got vanilla, salted Carmel and cookie butter which we all shared and I didn't get a picture of. It was probably our favorite, then salted Carmel then vanilla. There was actual cookie butter mixed in and in the center. It was delicious and we haven't come across a cookie butter cupcake before which was cool to see a new flavor. The second favorite was salted Carmel. You tasted the salt and the sweet Carmel center and was delicious as well. The cupcakes were more dense than I like but the flavor was there. The vanilla which I got for the kids and parents was personally my least favorite. I could taste the flour or baking soda in it and it was dense like the others. I normally don't go with plain anything anyway but the kids seemed to enjoy it. Overall, there was a lot of variety and something for everyone. Love trying out new places and glad we were able to try Lizzy's treats!

The restaurant is like fast casual where you order at the counter and then wait for your food at your table. The place is clean, with a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, and the staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. Towards the end of our meal, we chatted with one of the proprietors, who was just wonderful. I will definitely return here again, and I'll try to bring a bigger appetite next time.

I thought it was just a bagel place. I can take or leave bagels. I can pick up a bag at Safeway. On this particular day I showed up ready to shop at said Safeway, famished. There was a sandwich board outside of Oasis with smoothie specials. They've got something besides bagels? Due to my tendency to go off list and grab unhealthy groceries when I'm hungry (that ends up rotting in the fridge) I ducked into Oasis. What? I just stood there for a second. My mountain neighbors were grazing contentedly at their tables. The menu boards were crammed with options. Things I like. Where do I even begin? My husband had been gatekeeping. I called and told him that I found this cafe and asked if he wanted anything - and he said he'd been there a couple of times before on the way to work. The bagels (though he told me that they were fresh and delicious) were a footnote to all the offerings. I honestly felt overwhelmed. The cashier said I could choose a fresh baked item - I selected a croissant - and they'd stuff it with sandwich ingredients. I chose chicken salad and it was epic. Generous shreds of chicken in a flavorful dressing that was creamy without tasting like greasy mayo. To top it off, you can choose a "free" bag of gourmet chips off a rack. That treat makes your $9 sandwich reasonably priced. I got it all to go, for lunch later, and picked up a green smoothie to get me through the store. When I walked in Safeway this lady asked, "Did you get that next door? It's so good isn't it?" All of my neighbors have been gatekeeping, while I have been relegated to Subway and Starbucks. Another time, I went to Oasis with my husband and got a breakfast burrito and fresh squeezed OJ, which were so good. We were anticipating an overnight guest from the east coast so we picked up a few black-and-white cookies for dessert and crumb cake to complement our home-cooked breakfast. All were very fresh and tender baked goods; our guest told us she felt so special. Next I'm going to try their deli sandwich since my tendency is drive over a half hour down the hill to Jersey Mike's, thinking I had no choice. These gatekeepers get on my nerves.
