"I'm slim shady, yes, I'm the real shady all you other slim shadys are just imitating" is a part of my favorite song I like to sing when I'm taking away the decency of a bathroom, if a bathroom has any decency to begin with, after leaving this greasy, crusty, yet historic establishment that is known as krekel's custard. I have lived in the Decatur area my whole life, so if there's two things that automatically makes me it would be a great and highly cultured person, and a top quality food critic. Krekel's has been a staple of not only Decatur for decades, but also for Macon county as a whole (mt. Zion location). It honestly is probably the only thing that is keeping this community together, since the local officials don't seem to be doing anything but spending money on police war tanks and getting "sugar rushes" off the backsides of prostitutes frequently found on the corner of Monroe and Garfield. But this is beyond the point, let's get to the food. The burger's are honestly disgusting, yet I always find myself munching on them typically in moments were self esteem is low as well as my blood pressure. Krekel's always finds a way to send it sky-rocketing. I would say for the same for all other main dish menu items, except for the chili that is only served during a small fraction of the year. If they served chili all year round, as well as provided entertainment like rollerblading, exotic, Brazilian dancers that served you a trip to DMH heart clinic in those ever so famous brown paper bags, I would give it 5 stars. But no they don't. My first intention would be to give krekel's 2 stars, but the mr. Pibb is fire and I would totally skip my girlfriend's ultra sound appointment at the hospital in order to wait in line for a strawberry lemon twist cone. 4 stars. read more

Love this place. Grew up eating Krekel's. This is my go to place when I want burgers and fries.

This is my favorite burger stand. We have In N Out and Five Guys burger joints in Northern California, but I can't wait to go back home to enjoy Krekel's burgers on a regular basis. They are crispy and absolutely delicious! And I love their banana splits. read more

Great little hole in the wall place to eat. All the Krekel locations are a Decatur tradition. Best known for their thin slightly crispy burgers and shakes. Love the thin crisp fries too. Lots of food for little money. When former residents return to town they always seem to stop a Krekels. read more

As far as fast food goes this place is the best around the Decatur area.

Decatur natives tend to rave about Krekel's... I ate there once and I was nothing but grossed out by the food. Not terrible for a fast food joint, but certainly nothing worth getting excited over. The only really good thing is the custard. read more

I have to say they are some good burgers from what I remember have not had one in probably 25 yrs since i moved to FL. I might have to have one when i return for a visit this summer. Un like some other people i have found a place here in S Fla that taste just as good called 5 GUYS BURGERS AND FRIES........but I can say I have found NOBODY and probably NEVER will that beats MONICALS PIZZA..... read more
