My husband and I attempted to have dinner at this restaurant on a Saturday night at 7:15 PM. There were very few people dining at the time and there were a few tables where a single person sat at each table and appeared to be employees. After several minutes an older woman came up behind a counter and told us there were no tables available and there wouldn't be any for at least an hour and a half (which is when they closed). Absolutely fabulous! Let's start with the staff who are all extremely friendly and attentive. Ambiance is incredible. Now the best part is the food. Started with the caprese salad, then went for the goulash with egg noodles, and finished up coconut pie and espresso. Best meal we have had in a long time. My brother and I met in Bardstown for a few days on the Bourbon Trail, and had dinner one night at Kreso's. We were greeted immediately, and seated at a nice table. The decor is funky, but nice. The server was very friendly and attentive. For starters, we had the Bosnian Salad, which was excellent. For the entree, I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel, and my brother ordered Chicken Marsala. The portions, which arrived quickly, were huge. You will not go away hungry. Unfortunately, we both found the entrees bland. Our experience revolved around ordering a glass of whiskey since we had read online that Kreso's had over 200 bottles of bourbon, rye, and other American whiskeys available for pours. So after dinner, we walked down to Kreso's and grabbed a spot at the bar where I ordered a neat pour of Old Carter, which was quite good and well priced. Kreso's bar is a nice place to chill and enjoy a drink. The Bee Gee's greatest hits played in the background as I glanced around. Past the bar and the statue is a private dining room for events. Overall, the establishment has a very European vibe -- the owners are of Bosnian descent. Very old school dining areas, with green-painted walls and burgundy trim around the doors I will need to come back here for dinner to sample some of the cuisine. We saw some of the plates other diners had ordered and looked quite appetizing. Kreso's is a spot to visit for the bourbon at the very least. read more

We arrived late in the evening within an hour of closing time. We were pleasantly surprised by the great service and absolutely delicious food that we had there. We were not rushed through our meal at all. I had Kresos chicken, and my husband had the goulash. Both were delicious! The tables were nicely set. Bar area was extensive. Stopped here for lunch on a random midweek afternoon. Too bad, though, as we were told as soon as we walked through the door that they were actually closed for a private event...that night. On all sites they were listed as open. No signs out front or on the door. Doubt I will ever try again. It's the little things...be better. Very well appointed spot, linen tablecloths and all. More than we expected! The wife got the spaghetti carbonara, and I got the Wiener schnitzel. The food was excellent and plentiful. Our waitress was very pleasant and we learned that both her mother and father prepare all of the food, truly a "Family" business that takes pride in what they do. We stopped in here one night for an after dinner drink and were very impressed with the number of bourbon options available. The bartender recommended one we had never tried before so that was exciting. The service was wonderful and the space was comfortable. Just left after ordering take out. We sat at the bar and had whiskey sours made with store bought sour mix while we waited. Once we made it home, the food was okay. Not quite what I expected at the price point. I also found a hair in my take out which was disappointing. This is totally a hidden gem in Bardstown. They are not likely to respond to e-mail but if you call during business hours you can make a reservation. Awesome bourbon menu. the Bosnian salad is great as is the stroganoff and steak. An absolute bargain. Open in 2020 but may not be for long due to state travel restrictions. This place is so neat. They did an amazing job fixing up the old theater. I can't wait to go to one of their movie events. The food was really good. I got the stuffed mushrooms and they were the best I've ever had. My boyfriend got the schnitzel and really liked it. The service was very good. this was a surprising jam in Bardstown. And all stone building connected to a motor lodge. Inside the service was cheery and helpful. The food we had was as good as I have found in Louisville, Pittsburgh, or Philadelphia. The spring peas salad is made of pods of tender spring peas on a bed of crescent shaped cucumber slices, sitting on top of it a fresh sauce. My husband and I took his mother here for her birthday. The website said they open at 11:30 on Saturday, when we arrived at noon the doors were locked & there were two large dogs barking at the door loose in the restaurant. Had our first day of vacation dinner there. It was delicious! Staff was friendly & helpful. One of us is a vegetarian & the waittress took care of us with a delicious veggie angel hair pasta! Not on the menu but they put just as much care in it as any menu item. I had the schnitzel a naturale - great sauce & didnt miss the breading at all. The only caviat was they had a beautiful bourbon bar but no bartender or list of bourbons. We were there on a Wednesday so we're guessing they probably do have it manned on the weekends. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, they were great, not heavy or greasy, but light and flavorful. Then we shared The Bosnian Salad for four. When I tell you we devoured it, it was a scene of the four of us fighting for every last bit on the platte....we would come back here just for that! Outstanding. For our entrees we ordered the Wiener schnitzel, the jeager schnitzel, and the steak. Wow, wow and wow. Flavorful, hot, fresh and so tender. Simply perfect. Enjoyed dinner here on a Tuesday evening while in town (bourbon trail). Although most retailers were closed because of the ice/snow storm, my hubby and I bellied-up to the bar at Kreso's for some great bourbon and schnitzel. The bartender, Jason, is a smart, unassuming gentleman who knows a lot about bourbon. He took us each down a journey of spirits matching our individual tastes. He also helped us pick-out solid menu options: stuffed portobello mushroom, Kreso's schnitzel (all schnitzels made from pork tenderloin), a house salad, and homemade baklava (best I've had, and the chocolate syrup smiley-face certainly pushed me over the edge). Upscale atmosphere, with a masculine bar (dark wood, large mirror, ~186 bourbons), offset by large art collection. Jason told us the restaurant was once the town's cinema, and gave us a quick tour of the old screening room-turned-function-hall. Really cool space, and I'd like to visit during spring/summer when I envision an energized, friendly crowd also enjoying dinner/events there.
