    Chicken and waffles

I really wanted to love this place so much. The decor and atmosphere are a lot of fun. Our waitress was really food. I forget her name but she was very nice and friendly. We got here after a day of travel and waited about 30 minutes for a table. Finally got seated around 8 and they closed at 9 (on a Friday). It took a bit for our waitress to get there but we ordered a fried pickle app and drinks. Came back with drinks and we ordered food. It took an hour to get our fried pickles which by that time my children were very hangry. Then took another 20 minutes to get our food. I get being busy but that's what to long to wait with no explanation. Our server did feel bad and gave us some free pie. The food was just alright. The fried chicken was really dry, they were out of the sauce for the waffles/chicken. My boys enjoyed their country fried steak and ribeye though.

Disappointed. Loved the idea of Mammys. Loved the vibe and the menu and friendly waitress. The food was not good. Tuesday special was open faced roast beef sandwich. It was actually pot roast with a thick dark gravy. Very salty. Good fries but an upcharge Tried the butter bean soup - ok but would not order again I had the grilled chicken bourbon sandwich. It was good(small) but a grilled roll would have made a big difference. $2.00 up charge for green beans -- they were complete mush and inedible , Maybe breakfast is better ?

Went for lunch. My cheeseburger looked like one of those patties you get out of the freezer from Sam's Club. I requested Swiss cheese but it looked like a slice of white American without any taste. But I bet this is a fun place to hang out for a few cocktails in the evening but during lunch, the music is pretty loud.

First off, you have to come here. The bar is awesome. Next, you need to order the fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese! I'm not kidding the pimento cheese is so good you can dip anything in it and you'll be keep going back for more. I also ordered the jalapeño bacon burger which was so good but I should've gotten the burger with the fried tomatoes and pimento cheese on it. They have a lot of bourbons too. I hear the breakfast is beyond amazing. We will be back.

If you are looking for the best breakfast spot in the area this is it. Great casual family dining feel. Amazing friendly service that just elevated the entire experience. Order: Fried chicken eggs benedict with home fries. Exactly what you are hoping for.... but better. The biscuits were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Chicken was perfect. Crispy exterior and juicy on the inside and covered by a delicious hollandaise sauce. Perfectly crispy home fries. The country gravy on the side was flavorful and had chunks of sausage. Highlight of the meal was meeting Mammy herself. She just brought out a freshly baked black forest Bundt cake topped with chocolate ganache and cherry sauce... She let us be the first official taste testers.. It was so so good. Everything you wanted. Rich chocolate cake and ganache balanced with the tart cherries. Overall: This is a destination restaurant if you are coming to the area. The food is delicious and made with love, but the people working at the restaurant are the real stars.

After a few days of visiting distilleries, I ended up in Bardstown, Ky. Yelp led me to Mammy's Kitchen and Bar. Whether you're looking for a comfortable bar to sit at or a restaurant, this is the place to go. Since I was by myself, I ended up sitting at the bar. The bar had a comfortable feel and the service was outstanding. I felt that southern hospitality almost everywhere I went. This was no exception. Taking a break from the bourbon I had been consuming for days, I went with a Gin and Tonic. You can never go wrong with a good G&T. I decided on the Chicken Fried Steak for dinner. This was a great Chicken Fried Steak covered in white gravy. You've were given plenty of options for sides and I went with the home fries and fried apples. This meal hit the spot. Maybe not the biggest of greatest Chicken Fried Steak I've had in my life, but it tasted great. I would certainly order it again. I appreciate when all the bartenders are striking up a conversation. It didn't feel forced. Though I don't mind traveling alone, it is also nice to be able to talk to others. If you're on the distillery tour and find yourself in Bardstown, head to Mammy's Kitchen and Bar. You won't be disappointed.

Never had been out to Mammys before but had to check it out! This place has a lot of historical significance. I checked out their bar area as well had a sit down meal for dinner. I can absolutely see why people travel from all over! I'm not often in Bardstown, but this place really has a charm to it. It feels old but in the best possible way; Like a piece of history captured still in time. I'd had Bourbon Pork Chops, Brussel sprouts, and fried apples. Overall this was a very excellent experience! This is down home country cooking at its best, and I would highly recommend everyone check this place out, and make the venture to see what it's all about themselves!

What a great local gem! The food was an amazing! Great home style food with large portions and reasonable prices. The service was fast and very friendly. Everything came out of the kitchen quickly and hot. Nice spacious seating (inside only) with interesting decor throughout.

Highly recommended so we had to try it. We were not disappointed! Short chilly walk from our Airbnb. We both had breakfast bowls that were huge and so good! Server was great and staff would stop by our table to chat. A lot of locals. Halloween decorations were awesome!

We stopped by Mammy's Kitchen while visiting from out of town after seeing all the great reviews. We really enjoyed the cozy, country-style atmosphere inside the restaurant - you can tell it must've been quite the spot back in the day! It could use a little refresh, though, or at least some tidying up at the front to move the supplies and boxes out of sight when you first walk in. The gift shop was super cute, and our food didn't disappoint -- we ordered burgers and fries, and I added a side of green beans. Everything tasted pretty good overall.

Service and atmosphere are awesome. Food is not so much. I had the Bloody Mary, that was awesome. I had the country breakfast sandwich that was absolutely ruined by that cheap / Kraft type cheese. It's a shame cuz the bar tender was great and the rest of sandwich was high quality and tasty. Also it was Friday morning and there was still a wait for a table. The lady at the front desk did not let us know that we could sit at the bar we found out ourselves!

It's just a sign, but impressive message!

The town has changed much since I was last here, lots of growth and options. I used to stay at the Hampton Inn when it was still here (now a "Spark" by Hilton. I'm at the Holiday Inn Express and they recommended having lunch here since there's a 10% discount for hotel guests. I've eaten here before but new ownership and food offerings have been updated- including an Indian menu! Lala greeted me when I arrived, I'm the only in person diner but I chose a bacon cheeseburger with no onion, and Swiss cheese. I chose the side of tater tots. I asked to see the menu for the Indian offerings and it looks like they have a smaller offering; but something for everyone. I'm mowing down my food as I write this review. The tater tots are superbly seasoned and cooked. Crispy and stayed that way the entire time I was eating. I lived in Chicago for 20 years, and Red Gold ketchup and salsa were some of my favorites. The burger was cooked perfectly, the bacon crispy, Swiss cheese melted nicely and the bun toasted along with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles (no onion since I'm going right to work ) for that perfect lunch. I hope that people keep supporting this business. I'm sure the pizza is still great but next time I may come back and try some of the Indian offerings for a different path when I'm back in town. Support Lala, Kajal, and this small owned business!

Other than that, I was so disappointed in this place. Walking in, we were greeted by the overwhelming smell of some kind of cleaning solution or pungent air freshener. It took awhile to acclimate to that. To the point I wondered if my food would taste like it. They have pizza, some basic Italian food and a whole separate menu of Indian food. My son loves Indian food, so I compromised and went there. He got an appetizer of Samosas which he really enjoyed. I don't like Indian food, so I personally cannot give an account, but he loved it. I got potato skins. They were fine, but nothing worthy of note. Husband got spaghetti and meatballs. It said spaghetti AND meatballs on the menu. But they charged extra for the meatballs. $13 for a mediocre portion of spaghetti and sauce, and then an additional charge for the meatballs that were supposed to be part of the meal as on the menu. And they were not good meatballs. Probably something from a vendor like GFS, and then boiled. They were very...gray. And bland. Olive Garden is not the bastion of Italian food, but they charge about the same price and it's good. And they include breadsticks and soup/salad. I'm not a chain restaurant kind of person, but this place makes me want I got a pizza with extra cheese. Good thing I did or it would have no cheese. If you get green peppers, they will be diced into very large pieces and put on top. Almost like having fresh peppers put on top of a cooked pizza. The crust is good and has a good chew to it, but it is "flimsy" like a NY style pizza and it cannot support the weight of the toppings. Son surprised me and also got pizza. While he loved the samosas, he likened his pizza to a glorified Tombstone pizza. For $20+, that's kinda sad. $80+ for food that was underwhelming at best, is a pricey little lesson learned. I'm not going back, but if you like Indian food, this will probably be a great place for you.
