London Victoria station is one of the easiest places for me to meet friends from all over the city for a coffee, lunch, or pretty much anything else. Yesterday I had farewell lunch with a friend who was moving back to 'Merica, and after hugging her goodbye there was only one thing that could make me feel better... Carbs. A twelve-pack of chocolaty, jammy, glazed goodness; coated in sugar and flash fried in just enough fat to give my arteries a run for their money. Through a cloudy haze of tears appeared my salvation: Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. The woman behind the counter was efficient and friendly, widdling the line down with ninja-like cash register skills and a sincere smile. I love crispy creme, but unless you buy a dozen they are too expensive. One donut can cost up to £1.50 We used to have them in the office and what i do is stick them in the microwave for a few seconds. Deliciously sickly (i can only eat one at a time) donuts although quite expensive well worth it. Unfortunately they only seem available at trains stations though, oh and Selfridges too but seem to be getting ever so more popular. I love Krispy Kreme and as they are not available in my town, as soon as I arrive at Victoria station, I make a beeline for this stall :) Range of different flavours including chocolate fudge cake and lemon meringue pie, these donuts are unlike any others. These Krispy Kreme doughnuts are very tasty but i can only ever eat one because they are very sweet and rich. I think i prefer the plain one because you can really taste the doughnuts without the even sweeter sugary icing topping. I wish they had these stalls in more places than just railway sttions although i have noticed they sell them in some Tesco stores which is great - i think it's mainly the bigger superstores but i could be wrong. There are Krispy Kreme's all over the place - especially at train stations! The doughnuts are undoubtedly gorgeous and the staff are usually friendly and helpfulbut unless you buy a box of doughnuts (when the price of each single doughnut is quite reasonable), the price you pay for a single doughnut (something like £1.30) is slightly ridiculous! It just depends whether you can afford to spend £1.30 on one doughnut, when you can get 6 in somewhere like Sainsburys for 50p! They're much nicer at Krispy Kreme of course! read more

On my first trip to London, I road in from the airport on the train and came up in Victoria Station. I was excited to be in THE Victoria Station, but when I came up the stairs, the first thing I saw was a Krispy Kreme kiosk. That's just all wrong. Of course, I had to immediately get on -- for research purposes of course. I wanted to see if they were like the doughnuts we get in the States. They were, sort of. Not quite as light and airy as the ones we get in the States, but close and still quite good. It's hard to beat a basic glazed Krispy Kreme right out of the fryer and a cup of coffee. They just kind of melt in you mouth and leave you with a sugar / caffeine rush. Glad to see that Londoners appreciate them. read more

I'm used to buying doughnuts from, ahem, lesser outlets. The first time I tasted a doughnut from Krispy Kreme. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Seriously. Theirs are by far and away the best I've ever tasted. And I've tasted doughnuts from just about every major outlet in London. I also really like Krispy Kreme's deals: You can buy a tin of six or a box of 12 and choose each one individually. Or if you want to keep it simple, you can buy a box of 12 pre-selected flavours (various or 12 plain). The plain doughnuts are almost as tasty as the strawberry glazed, chocolate ones etc. My personal favourite is the strawberry glazed but they have many to choose from. They have a fair few variations on chocolate, from chocolate with pieces of chopped chocolate ontop to chocolate with hundreds and thousands sprinkled on top, plus a few other flavours I can't remember. These will most likely be popular with your co-workers; I remember I bought a box of six for a lady in my office (we're a very small team) and they went down a storm. Only downside are their prices. But if you only buy them in bulk as an occasional treat, it shouldn't work out too expensive. I've also been told they are quite fattening (as doughnuts tend to be), but having a fast metabolism and fortunate genes, I don't worry too much about that! If you like doughnuts, go here. Really really nice. The doughnuts here a some of the best i've tried. This is a great location, just before you catch the train you can grab a coffee and a doughnut ( or two). The coffee sold is very nice, the coffee is pretty nice to, better than starbucks, where the coffee is far too hot to taste anything. A great place for your commute. read more
