Somehow we booked a "healthy" Bed & Breakfast during our stay in Raleigh. They served plain Greek Yogurt with natural, local honey. Where's the damn pancakes?! After we packed up the Tesla, I was dizzy from hunger. We drove a few blocks and passed this beautiful Krispy Kreme with the sign on! I was dancing in the parking lot but walked in cool. Kristy Kreme is a southern tradition for a reason. It is a North Carolina institution founded in the 1930's. It also makes the best melt-in-your-mouth donuts I have ever had. We always use the drive thru on a morning run for a fresh dozen of glazed donuts. We take our mugs of milk from home and then DIG IN at a local park. Drive thru can be very busy but the staff do a good job of moving things along. It is great to see the big classic sign out front and inside looks pretty old school. Hot& Fresh indeed! We had a good experience at this Krispy Kreme. It's the only one in Raleigh, which I found kind of surprising since North Carolina is Krispy Kreme's home state. There are five Krispy Kreme stores in the Triangle. I grew up close to the one in High Point: https://www.yelp.com/biz/krispy-kreme-high-point-2 At this location, we picked up an Assorted 3 Pack for $5.79 ($6.27 after tax). We got two Original Glazed Doughnuts and one Chocolate Iced Custard Filled Doughnut. As always, regardless of location (in my experience), the doughnuts were delicious. You can't go wrong with a classic Original Glazed, in my opinion. At the right temperature, they melt in your mouth. And they're yummy at room temp too. As for the Chocolate Iced Custard Filled Doughnut, I enjoyed it. I think I prefer the version with "Kreme" Filling because the Kreme has a lighter, fluffier consistency than the custard, but both are tasty. At the time of our visit, a dozen Original Glazed were priced at $14.49 ($1.21 each), Assorted $16.49 ($1.37 each), and Specialty $18.49 ($1.54 each). 3 Pack Original Glazed was $5.29. They also offered combos (doughnuts + coffee/milk) and individual drinks like coffees and iced lattes (machine-made, $4.49 each). We visited on a Saturday night around 8pm. The store was comfortably busy with dine-in, takeout, and drive-thru orders. It wasn't crowded. Our wait was very short. Service was fine. This is an old-school Krispy Kreme with a classic, retro look, inside and out. This location opened in 1970. It's in downtown Raleigh, on the border of the Historic Oakwood neighborhood, just one block east of William Peace University (I knew it as Peace College). Like other Krispy Kreme locations, this one has clear views of the doughnut production line. I always enjoy looking at it. They also had the traditional Krispy Kreme fold-up paper hats here. I drove to the Krispy Kreme in Raleigh as the Wake Forest location was drive thru only when I bought the donuts for Discount Tire. I was planning to go inside. when I arrived there were a bunch of cars parked so I took one of the empty spots as I was getting out of the car to walk around to the door the lady working the window let me know it was drive thru only. So I appreciated that she saved me a trip around to see the note on the door. So I wanted to try the new donuts and had a coupon so I got in the drive thru lane that wrapped around the building. It moved pretty quickly considering the number of cars ahead of me. Two vehicles did get out of the line at various points. I got the banana pudding; strawberries and Kreme and the key lime donut as well as some other favorites. Customer service was very friendly from the minute I got out of my car to the minute I left the drive thru. They were very patient as well as I forgot to say how many donuts I was ordering. first thing you smell when you walk in is the smell of old, burnt oil.... not very appealing when you expect "fresh" doughnuts. You can tell the store is poorly ran, customers waiting in the lobby for an extended time. One cashier, they seem fairly young, probably their first job, running both lobby and drive thru. While the person in charge is in the back.. helping make doughnuts?... or whatever they were doing. The back room was filled with racks, which were filled with plenty of doughnuts. Yet, there were empty trays in the display. Guaranteed flies, tho! ... Lobby floor needed serious cleaning. Advertisement for items they were supposedly out of. I wouldn't recommend. Visited the store 12/18 to pick up my online order. First went to the drive-thru to pick up my order and after waiting almost 5mins (no cars in front of me) a lady opens the door only to bark at me for using the drive thru and orders me to come inside. I do, and upon explaining multiple times to this jungle monkey what my order was, she proceeds to not honor the free Christmas donut promo with my purchase which was advertised on the app for the holiday. I haven't visited Krispy Kreme since relocating to Raleigh so I was in for a treat while driving through the Historical Oakwood section of downtown. My daughter insisted we pull over to get some donuts. The Drive Thru was already flooded when I pulled in and I had some time to think about my choices. There something about the thick sugar coated glaze on the original and Glazed raspberry filled donuts. My staples are the Raspberry filled and iced chocolate with rainbow sprinkles. This location is nice since there is plenty of parking, indoor seating, and the employees are efficient. Plus the donuts are reasonably priced and you can watch them being made. I placed an order online on a Tuesday for pick on Friday morning at 8am. I get to the location at 8am, tell the cashier my name, they pull the ticket and then making my order. What is the point of ordering ahead if I have to stand there and wait for you to make the order??? They had to brew 4 boxes of coffee and put together 4 dozen donuts. The younger cashier (tall, slim, black hair, light skin women of color), who seemed like she was in charge, was rude and unprofessional. She made the last of my order and then just the items on a table, walked away and started taking other customer orders. After a few minutes, I asked the other cashier if that was my order, she asked the rude girl and the rude girl said yes. Smh. The customer service is terrible. The seemed short staffed. Another customer was picking up an order and they couldn't even find her ticket. I place a lot of orders for morning meetings, and this was my first time coming here. I won't make that mistake again. The dining area is constantly closed during advertised open hours. It's practically never open past 5 or 6 pm. This Krispy Kreme is in a residential area, and they force you to use the drive thru. My cousin took me to Krispy Kreme because she had a coupon for buy 1 dozen and get the 2nd dozen free, LOL. She also made us wait until the hot donuts were being served and I wasn't mad about that wait. When we arrived, there were only a few parking spaces. I was happy to see that lighted sign "Hot Now."
