If you need a coffee in the middle of the night and want to play some games, add this place to your list. They also have a bar, if you'd like to order a cocktail. The coffee was decent. The mug was basic and the presentation of the drink was unimpressive.

My husband and I were visiting from Seattle and we were looking for a cool coffee shop in the downtown area before our flight. We stumbled upon this place since it was highly rated. I got the Banana Nut Bread latte and it was yummy! They do have housemade syrups, but they also have bottled ones. The space is pretty cool. There were a few folks working and studying, but it's a little too loud for my taste. Not a big deal if you just want to hang out!

Great space, ambience, coffee and customer service! (They are a park of sip and stroll as well!) I will be back!

Stopped in while running around on our trip, It was definitely busy but for good reason and well worth it, the atmosphere was great and the coffee was really good. Definite going to go back soon

I was on a trip to Raleigh in January 2024. My friend and I were in the downtown area. A quick Yelp search and I found Sir Walter Coffee. Pictures on Yelp looked fun; vibe seemed cool. Sir Walter Coffee is known for their "Coffee, Craft, Comfort". Okay - that sounded pretty fun & cool. My friend and I only ordered coffee there as we were headed to a Zumba event afterwards. I had wanted one of their special coffees but they ran out. The cashier helped me select another coffee drink that was similar and voila. Vibe was cool. My friend and I both liked our respective coffee drinks. Good place to chill for a little bit. We were there on a Sunday afternoon - and it was pretty packed. ENJOY!

Coffee: 7/10 - I ordered the banana pudding cold brew & it tasted nothing like a banana. Maybe more syrup but I did taste like a caramel macchiato which never disappoints. Effort for the Banana Pudding Milkshake :10/10 My sister had the breakfast sandwich which she enjoyed. I didn't grab food but I enjoyed the atmosphere. I thought it was cool to have a charging station at each table. Future work space perhaps! Oh, this is a perfect date spot as it caters to everyone.

Came in for breakfast before a conference I was attending. I didn't see where the register was at first, so I tried to order from the bar - it's off to the left when you enter at the end of the bar. I decided to get a chai latte and breakfast burrito without adding meat. Chai latte tasted a bit watered down and not that flavorful. Breakfast burrito was a good size and was topped with crema with sides of guac and salsa. The inside of the burrito had a weird texture, and looking inside I noticed they use chopped up hard boiled eggs - never seen that before and not really a fan. It should be scrambled egg. The dipping sauces were ok, just kind of bland.

First I'll start with the good stuff, coffee is really good and baristas are very sweet. However, I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it was a super greasy bun (also not the onion brioche advertised) I pulled off most of the bread and ate the egg and cheese with sausage and it was ok but not any better than say a breakfast sandwich you'd get at an airport:/ disappointing but coffee is good and I bought a bag of beans but at $21! Pretty pricey and not much info on the actual bag. I'm sure I could look up their info online but it's nice to have some info on the bag.

I loved this coffee place. The coffee was great and the cheese danish as well. The environment is also super nice and relaxing. I sat outside and the view was great! I will definitely be coming back to this coffee shop.

Service was poor - needs more staff - dishes piled up and drinks took a long time. Prices were high. The drink tasted pretty good, tacos ok.

There's so many things on the menu that I still want to try. When we first got to the restaurant we were interested in sitting outside but the host told us the spot that would fit us wasn't available or in the section. However, she went out of her way to talk to her manager and they accommodated us. Off to a great start service wise! That great service continued throughout our meal. Our waiter was super attentive and everything was brought out really quickly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, both inside and out. It's a very classy spot; very upscale mid-century. I had the stuffed French toast crepe with berries added (egg battered crepe dusted with a cinnamon spice blend, filled with cheesecake custard, topped with maple syrup and house-made whipped cream). Phenomenal. I'm still thinking about that crepe a few weeks later now...I also ordered the Strawberry Citrus Smash (tangerine ginger iced tea, strawberry syrup, lime juice, served iced). Also delicious and not overly sweet. Everything here is great. I highly recommend checking it out. My oneeeee issue is that they don't take reservations. I'm sorry but I don't want to wait around for over an hour to get a table for brunch on the weekend. It's really unfortunate because I've been here with friends before and we've had to leave to go to another restaurant because of such a long wait time. The only reason I was able to try this place after that was because I went during a weekday when family was in town visiting. Many of my friends have jobs that aren't very flexible and busy family lives, so the weekends are the best times to go; but at the same time they don't have a lot of time to spare to waiting. PRESS if you see this - I highly recommend that you reconsider your reservation policy, at least for the weekends!

This morning, I walked in and saw not one familiar face there, and I've come to learn all the staff walked out simultaneously weeks ago. After getting to know many of the staff over the years of frequenting there, anything to make every staff member walk out at the same time has to be big enough to leave a sour taste in your mouth. Am truly sad to see such a Raleigh staple not see the value in the community their staff created. Cheers to Joe, Brennan, Brett, amber, and all of the others past a present (shout out Tim and Casey and Jackie!) for their place in our lives over all of these years! We were seated immediately by the host, Jaimie, who greeted us with such kindness and professionalism. She made a great first impression. Our server, Ashley, was absolutely phenomenal. She went above and beyond from start to finish. While we were waiting for our food, she checked on our table twice to make sure we had everything we needed. She even stopped to ask how everything was when I was walking back from the restroom, which really showed how attentive she was. Speaking of the restroom...it was spotless and fully stocked, which I always appreciate. We ordered at 9:55 a.m. and our food arrived at 10:14 a.m., so the service was quick. As for the food, there were a few things that could be improved. The grits were a little underdone, the eggs were runnier than expected even though I requested soft scrambled, the edges of the pancake were a bit hard, almost as if it had been sitting on the grill for a while, and the bacon was very thin and had more of a pre cooked, buffet style texture. Even with those minor issues, the outstanding service made the entire experience enjoyable. Ashley truly turned a good breakfast into a great experience with her genuine care and attention to detail. I would absolutely recommend Big Ed's, and I'm happy to give it five stars because exceptional service deserves to be recognized. Ashley is a true asset to the restaurant..I hope she's recognized for how amazing she is. We'll definitely be back! We will be back for more Ashley awesomeness!
