Delicious coffee! Decent breakfast. Excellent service! Old-timey and cozy - great interior.

Review is just for the coffee. The drip coffee was okay, nothing I would go out of my way or wait in a long line for. The limited amount of pastries looked decent. Breakfast, lunch sandwiches and a limited kid menu was available. Too cramped and not much room inside so sat on the tables outdoors. Parked in a parking garage a block down on Wilmington Street for two hour free parking.

Quaint little coffee shop located in the heart of Raleigh. They have a large variety of both food, pastries and coffee items to choose from. Tons of seating upstairs if you're looking to stay and hangout or get some work done. Great espresso and the staff was wonderful as well!

Funky and fun coffee shop in Raleigh! Very unique atmosphere. The service is friendly with a genuine smile. I got the traditional machiato. They did not burn the milk and the Espresso was pulled with perfection! Breakfast item I got was a croissant and little bit of jelly. When you enter this coffee shop, it is a tight squeeze. There are a few stools in the front. There is an upstairs with plenty of space. They brought my breakfast up. This helped a lot to avoid congestion downstairs. Little tables next to the windows with live plants. Bus lady was even friendly when she went around picking up empty cups and napkins. That was refreshing.

TLDR: Maybe the coffee and pastries are the stars of this show but this is not the place for well-seasoned breakfast food, especially if you're hungry. However, the staff members are nice and efficient when you only need something small and quick. The rest of the story: The place is very small and there are only 4 high chairs inside at the window. There is outdoor seating along the sidewalk so bring your jacket during cooler months and eat quickly or your food will get cold. Despite the line we encountered, the service was fast and friendly. The girl at the counter patiently waited for me to make my decisions and took my order but informed me they didn't do many substitutions. We ordered the grits bowl, an omelette and the spicy chicken biscuit and went to take our seats outside. The table marker with, Uno cards, they gave us was so light I had to hold it in my hands to keep the light breeze from blowing it off the table. After a short wait, our food arrived in stages. The bowl of grits was small with a sprinkles of cheese and raw green onions on top. It was otherwise unseasoned. The omelette was also unseasoned, and the spinach and onions inside were undercooked and difficult to cut with the plastic cutlery we were provided. The Nashville chicken biscuit was not spicy at all. It relied completely on the sauce that was put on top for any amount of heat.

Came here for a quick snack and saw it was rather busy. I got a cookie which was alright and their iced matcha was meh but refreshing at least. I do like their upstairs area which has a good amount of seating and an interesting wall. Seems like a nice spot to work remotely or study.

I've ordered twice now from The Morning Times via DoorDash, and loved it! I've only tried two menu items but loved it enough to order it twice in one week. The breakfast burrito is one of the best I've had around here! Huge, stuffed with eggs, beans, cheese, jalapeños. I skip the jalapeños and beans (never sure how hot the peppers may be), but always add avocado and chicken. It's so yummy! I love the tater tots too, but wish they were a LITTLE less crispy. It's also served with sour cream and a great salsa! I'll definitely be ordering from this spot again. I might even try something new!

This place is a chill coffee shop right off of the street. Small on the inside but the seating outside was very cozy. I ordered the iced americano with a caramel flavor shot and I usually do some type of dairy but it was so good I didn't need the dairy. I also ordered the breakfast biscuit add bacon and it was DELICIOUS! They were very welcoming when I waked in and service was very fast. This is a coffee shop I'll be visiting more often!

Iris Coffee Lab is where you bring the friend who can tell you the origin of a bean after one sip,…read morewho gets excited about extraction methods and tasting notes, and who genuinely believes coffee deserves the same reverence as a fine bottle of wine. Iris isn't trying to be trendy: it is unapologetically devoted to the craft. The interior reflects that philosophy. A restrained palette of white, charcoal, and soft gray keeps distractions to a minimum, allowing every cup to remain the focal point. It's clean, modern, and intentionally understated. If you're someone who typically reaches for cream and sugar, I'd encourage you to order at least one cup black. Iris sources and roasts exceptional coffee, and tasting it without distractions is the best way to appreciate the nuance and balance that have earned the café such a devoted following. That said, the seasonal menu is every bit as thoughtful. On this visit, I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha Latte, a drink layered with tropical sweetness, creamy matcha, and just enough complexity to keep each sip interesting. The final few sips, where all of the flavors settled together, were unexpectedly my favorite part. My brother-in-law chose Iris's signature blueberry-forward latte, while my niece ordered the house-made chai. Before she'd even finished half the cup, she looked up and declared, "This is the best chai I've ever had." Her father, after trying it himself, agreed without hesitation. The breakfast menu compliments the beverage program well, offering thoughtfully prepared dishes that feel every bit as intentional as the drinks. Like many destination coffee shops, Iris tends to attract people who settle in for a while. Laptops are open across nearly every table, conversations are minimal, and the room has the focused energy of a shared studio rather than a bustling café. Because of the open design, voices travel easily, making it a better place for quiet work than lively catch-ups. The café is meticulously maintained, including spotless restrooms that reflect the same attention to detail found throughout the space. Parking can require a bit of patience, though I've almost always managed to find a spot without too much trouble. Iris Coffee Lab isn't trying to appeal to everyone, and that's exactly what makes it special. It's a café for people who care about coffee, how it's sourced, brewed, and experienced. In a city with no shortage of coffee shops, Iris has carved out a distinct identity by putting craftsmanship ahead of trends, creating a destination that's as much about curiosity as it is about caffeine.

I'm a big fan of lighter-roasted, funky, expressive coffees, and Black & White absolutely delivers. Their roasting style leans into vibrant, fruit-forward profiles, and they do it with confidence. The downtown Raleigh location is fantastic too. It's right in the middle of everything, making it a great stop for a date night, meeting up with friends, or just dropping in for a quick but exceptional cup. Their seasonal menu was small but mighty -- just a couple of options -- but the kind where every drink looks so good you wish they'd never rotate them off the menu. I started with the orange cardamom flat white, and it was perfect in every way. Beautifully presented and incredibly balanced. The espresso, milk, orange, and cardamom all complemented each other without any one flavor taking over. It was nuanced, aromatic, and just a joy to drink. For my second drink, I ordered a Rodrigo Sanchez pour-over, a co-fermented Colombian coffee labeled with passion fruit notes. It was everything I want from a pour-over -- bright, juicy, and expressive, with the kind of sweet stone fruit and berry notes that make light-roasted coffee so exciting. Black & White continues to prove why they're one of the most respected specialty roasters around. If you love adventurous coffee with huge flavor and careful execution, this place is an absolute must-visit.
