I would have paid more for all dark meat - but they ignored the request - though that might have been a miscommunication between the three people putting the order together. It is a gas station parking lot so the ambiance is found at home. I was disappointed with the Mac and Cheese - essentially warmed Velveeta, and the biscuits - both seem to be fried and not baked, but not as tasty as a good fritter or hush puppy. The girl helped me and the guy said a fresh batch had just come out. I ordered the 8 pieces of legs and thighs. We didn't eat until about an hour later, but the coating was still crispy. I was a surprised, it's definitely one of our favorites places to get chicken from and it's so quick and easy. The prices are wonderful as well! Similar to most reviews I saw, I was hesitant to try gas station chicken but it was worth the try! By the time it took me to fill a tank of gas, my husband was already walking out with a box of piping hot chicken! Staff was helpful in answering our questions, we thought the mixed would have chicken breast but found out they don't sell chicken breast anymore. Been in the area for 17 years and never stopped at any Krispy Krunchy Chicken. I admit, the only other gas station I stop at for food is the Mobil in Lee Vining (amazingly good for a gas station, BTW). Visited at 1030am. Husband had an appointment, so I roamed around in the meantime. I have to admit, this chicken is really good! There's no line and at $6.47 for 4 tenders, 2 sauces, and a little biscuit, out the door. Why wouldn't I rate it 5 stars?! Albeit, it's salty for me, but that's how I'm made. It's not really super Cajun with the spice, but the tenders were crispy, crunchy,, hot, fresh, tender, and exceeded expectation! Hit or miss. The "Cajun" (though not hot at all) tenders first time ... Incredible had seasoning tasted awesome better than Popeyes. Second time ehh not even close to Popeyes didn't have the seasoning (or enough of at least) that was on there the first visit and had clearly been sitting out for long time under heat lamp. Third time the tenders were fresh because they had to make more for us but still ehh not at Popeyes level in terms of taste / seasoning but still a solid tender. They only had the legs and thighs everytime and out of the other pieces. But tried these twice and here yeah go: tough exterior breading overcooked crunchy to extreme skin was ehh, not good flavor no seasoning, and oily inside. I prefer tenders anyway myself so others might have different opinion on the pieces. On top of that been sitting out. Not worth the price for these. The potato wedges are decent (plain tasting no special seasoning detected). The dipping sauces amazing for dipping the chicken in... Original is awesome 10/10, boom boom is 7/10, ranch is 7/10 not enough fat/creaminess in the ranch. Haven't seen chicken sandwich or Mac n cheese there even though on menu but want to try those. The biscuits are awesome ... More awesome some visits vs other visits. First visit 10/10 on biscuits second visit 4/10 soggy undone and third visit 7/10. Serving up cajun Louisiana style chicken the obvious comparison is Popeyes. Having been disappointed with the serve and quality of the cedar location I figured this place was worth a try and I'm glad I did Breading and skin is super crispy and crunchy yet thinner than Popeyes but better seasoned without being too salty. The meat itself was juicy and fall off the bone tender. I did not try any other options such as the tenders, potatoes wedges etc but when I'm in the mood for it friend chicken again I will be back. I read the one other review of the place and was persuaded to give it a try on a day that I was craving fried chicken something fierce. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and put on a fresh pair of plastic food handling gloves when I began my order. The chicken is unbelievably delicious! The texture is sooo much better than KFC in terms of crispiness without chewing through a thick layer of fried batter. The flavor has that southern spice with a little heat/kick. The quality is that of something homemade, not fast food fart factory.
