    Pulled pork sandwich
    Veronica J.

I don't understand how this business won best bbq. Service was decent, they do have signs saying it's not fast food and everything is made to order. The place has lots of raiders memorabilia. Looking past that it's a bit dingy which is odd, since the outside looks so new. Food was not it. We ordered pull pork sandwich with fries & a brisket sandwich. Pulled pork was flavorless and really wet. Bun was soggy, the texture was very soft but too many bites of fats. Brisket was thinly sliced kinda tough, salty but not other flavor. No smokey flavor just nothing. The bbq sauce had a sweetness to it was it was also plain. Fries were ok but I didn't come for fries. I hate to be so harsh in a review but I was so disappointed, how did this place beat Mega Texas?

Stopped by (9/13/25) on a whim after leaving Costco next door and boy are we glad ! We ordered a bbq plate with brisket , bbq chili beans and Mac salad ($19) and added pork spare ribs for just $4 more. That plate would have been enough for 2 people but no , we also ordered the special which was half a smoked chicken and 2 more sides (12.99) and both were soooo good. You can really taste the smoke and the seasoning was perfect. Pork spare ribs are fall off the bone and the brisket was juicy! The smoked chicken was very well seasoned and not dry at all! Food was fire! Tip * if you want a KICK in your mouth , try the ghost pepper bbq sauce. Service was amazing, we met the owner Jesse who talked to my husband about the raiders ( my husband is a die hard) the place is decorated with Las Vegas Raiders memorabilia and they have sports playing on all 3 tvs there . We were told that during Raider games, if you show up in Raider gear there are deals on the beers ! This place is worth trying, good food, service and beer !

Went on Wednesday around 2 pm not too busy had a table of 5 and we had a party 5. I had the Mini Matty Ulta meat burger combo which was outstanding. I was not able to finish could not imagine ordering the full Matty burger. The restroom was clean but not a big a big place but we were able to put two tables together to sit comfortably. Service was fine and took about 10 minutes to get food which was not a problem. Ambiance was fine not a fancy place but a nice place. Look forward to trying to the bbq plates next time, Someone in our party order macaroni salad and said it was really good and our French fries were crispy and good. Would recommend and make sure you come hungry.

All this is the toasted bun with chicken nothing else $16.. Only the leadership of the country or should I say corporation?

When you first walk in the smells, take you over the chicken is tasty and their sauce is great. I just can't get over how fast prices have tripled and double in the last three years only in the United States. We will pay this much for food, but the service was decent in the restaurant looks busy.

Such a delicious tri tip sandwich to the flavor of the meat to the bbq sauce. I like how they even walked the food next door while I was having a beer at the brewery

Friendly service in a homestyle ambience. Seating inside and outside. Order at the counter. I tried the brisket sandwich. Meat was fairly tender and juicy. Needed the bbq sauce that came on the side, as it needed a flavor boost. My husband had a burger and fries. He said the burger was good, good sized. Fries were typical crinkle cut. They have breakfast burritos on their menu that might be worth a try. They also are a few doors down from Summer Fox brewery, so I could see grabbing a burger and then going over and getting a pint at some point! I honestly probably wouldn't get the brisket again, but there are many other items on the menu I would go back and try.

    Tri-tip sandwich and seasoned fries

Big portions and plenty of meat lovers' happiness here! The brisket was nice and tender, the pork ribs literally fell off the bone, and the tri-tip sandwich was loaded. Oh, and the burger? HUGE. Beans were the star side--super flavorful. Rice pilaf and the BBQ sauce were just okay (kinda tasted like it came from a bottle), but honestly, the meats and portion sizes made up for it. Definitely a solid BBQ spot when you're hungry and ready to feast!

I had heard of Grill Masters BBQ in Clovis, but due to the 3 1/2 star Yelp rating, I didn't feel compelled to try it out until I received my copy of "Best of Central California Peoples Choice" book in my mailbox. I noticed that under the heading of BBQ restaurants, Grill Masters got the second place Silver award. So, my wife and I, nearby on some business today, decided to try it out. We met and spoke with some of the family owners: Jesse and Maribel. We also met and talked with Jeremy, one of the cookers who gave has a tour of the pits in action (see pictures). Each was friendly and helpful, giving us the feeling of caring for their customers. Jesse and I discussed barbecue in general, his 25 years of cooking 'cue, and a few others related subjects. I felt I made a new friend. We selected a 1 meat plate, added a second meat, with two sides: 3 large ribs, about a half pound of brisket, which Jesse told me they did "differently" (than Texas style) and added they did "Clovis style barbecue." The sides were Cowboy beans and macaroni salad. Both sides were good. The beans were very good. The meats were different-especially the brisket which was very thinly sliced flat; no fatty point served with it. Although it was good meat, it did not meet my expectations or any previous experience eating brisket. It was more like roast beef well done. I'll pass on that next time. The ribs were delicious, even though falling off the bone is not my choice. I prefer more resistance - it being necessary to bite a clean bite off the bone. They were tender and juicy. I will order them again. The price of the plate came to $23.75, which for today's standards is very good. My wife and I each ate our fill and took home about half of what we were served. All in all, Grill Master's was a nice, enjoyable experience. Don't listen to the naysayers- make your own mind up. Visit Grill Master's

BBQ Pork Plate, sides, potato Salad, and Chili Beans
    Jj R.

If you're looking for great BBQ in Clovis, Grill Master BBQ is worth the visit. I had the pork ribs, which were fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and served in generous portions. The seasoning leaned slightly on the salty side but didn't take away from the flavor. Out front, they showcase two wood fire smokers, a testament to their authentic BBQ skills. Mastering fire and hand-stoking coals is an art, and it's clear they've nailed it--everything else in the technique follows. For sides, I went with chili beans and potato salad. While I'm usually not a fan of potato salad, theirs was surprisingly tasty. The chili was a standout--perfect color, texture, and thickness with a light spice that finishes with a kick of cayenne. Delicious. Service was exceptional. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and greeted us with smiles that never wavered. The ambience adds a unique touch, with a die-hard Raiders fan vibe and a man-cave look that gives the place a lot of character. Overall, well done to the team at Grill Master BBQ. Wishing you continued success!

Before I say anything about the food, the atmosphere was amazing. We were greeted even before hitting the door by the owner and the team at the smoker. This is a family business, and we definitely got the feeling that we were welcome. The food blew me away. I've been lucky enough to taste brisket at some of the best BBQ joints in Texas, and Mega is on par with any of them. The trip tip was tender and full of flavor, and the hot links nice and smoky. We were also able to try a house made jalapeno and Jack sausage that will blow your mind. Did I mention the sides? Brisket chili beans, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Every single side dish was on point. I don't like my potato salad with a bunch of other stuff mixed in, and this one didn't miss. Hold up. Ever hear about Alabama sauce? It was succulent, saucy, and deeply comforting. The pork was rich and exceptionally moist without being mushy, carrying deep smoky and savory flavors from the slow-smoking process and well-seasoned rub. The BBQ sauce was equally well-balanced--subtly spiced, tangy, and slightly sweet. It complemented the richness of the pork rather than masking it, and I appreciated that it was neither overly drippy nor sticky. The vinegary housemade slaw added the perfect contrast, bringing fresh crunch along with a briny, acidic sharpness that balanced the savory meat beautifully. The garlic-butter French roll held everything together nicely without falling apart, yet remained soft enough to absorb the sauce. I was not nearly as impressed with the tri-tip sandwich, which happens to be their best seller, though I still enjoyed it overall. The tri-tip itself was on point: thinly sliced, tender, medium-rare smoky beef piled onto a garlic-toasted French roll and complemented by tangy BBQ sauce. It delivered smoky, savory, juicy flavors with a satisfying contrast between the tender meat and the crunchy bread, which held the juices well without becoming soggy. That said, I thought the sandwich could have used a little more meat, which likely explains the popularity of the Jump Tri-Tip -- a larger version of the regular tri-tip sandwich that adds more meat on the same excellent bread for only a few dollars more. I also felt the sandwich needed an additional element to elevate it further--perhaps caramelized onions for sweetness, melted cheese for richness, or a sharper horseradish cream or garlic aioli to add more depth and contrast. Service was warm and friendly throughout, and I am always greeted with a smile.
