My daughter and I previously had our brows microbladed from someone else with not great results, so I was a bit nervous about having them redone. The skin under my brows had turned red and I needed to cover them with makeup every day. Oh. My. Lord. I honestly can't imagine ever going anywhere else. Ever. I don't care if I move again half way around the world, you can bet I will RETURN to Kristela for my touch-ups and will trust nobody else. First, to explain why I decided to get microbladed - I have blonde hair on my eyebrows so you could only ever really see the first half of my eyebrows in photos or even standing a short distance away. I was really self conscious about it because it meant my face just looked a little rounder and not as shaped. Also half eyebrows just look... as you would expect. I wanted to have a natural looking FULL set without having to apply makeup everyday. I wanted to wait until I had the full process - first appointment and touch-up - totally completed before I left a review so I could comment on each process. First appointment: Apparently my left eyebrow bleeds a lot and this is by no means a casual walk in the park. It hurts, it does. But Kristela makes you as comfortable as possible which really helps the process. I would suggest not talking so much like I have a tendency to do.. then it will be done more quickly but she's soooo sweet and SO easy to talk to! Honestly I've already forgotten (mostly?) about the pain! It hurts at the time but then it's over. Healing process: I actually loved them even at their darkest. The first time they healed, scabbed, and fell off pretty evenly. I was so satisfied with them throughout and at the end, but I had a special Groupon deal that got me another touch-up and I did want to be a littttle bit darker so I went for it. Touch-up: again painful, bloody, talked a lot. Still such an unbelievably relaxing and enjoyable experience for getting tattoos on your eyebrows! Again I already forget the pain of it, I'm too distracted my how shaped my face is now Healing process: boy oh boy did it not heal evenly this time. I spent a few days with splotches on random parts and it made the whole eyebrow look even lighter too, not darker like I wanted. BUT I COMPLETELY trusted Kristela, her work, and the process - I didn't freak out. Outcome: And of course everything was well. I honestly annoy my friends at this point, I can't stop talking about how much I love my eyebrows. Her shaping was EXACTLY what I wanted, the color is more perfect than I could have chosen for myself, and she was such a kind, genuine, pleasant person to go to. When I say I won't go to anyone else I mean it. As my eyebrows were numbing, she went over the healing process and what to expect, aftercare, what to avoid and answered any questions or concerns I had. The actual microblading is really not that bad. A numbing cream is applied, after numbing the pain level is around 3-4, 10 being the highest. She occassionally checked on me to make sure I was doing okay. I requested for darker, thicker eyebrows with less of an arch and more straight n that's exactly what I got :) They're healing great and looking fabulous! I'm so happy to be able to just wake up, put my mascara n face lotion on n walk out the door! It saves me a lot of time. Ladies, go at your own risk. Nice, yes, very. Comfortable salon, yes. But don't you pay for tattoo's that will last a few years...of course. It won't happen here. You can read her disclaimer below. She doesn't stand behind her work. I'm sure she will tell a story to counteract my review, but I'm being completely honest and she needs customers with money to keep her salon open. A disclaimer at the bottom of her response...what she's a lawyer now or just protecting herself with the disclaimer her attorney wrote for her business. I think we all know what a CYA letter is. My email was completely friendly, stated the facts and non accusatory. For $650 and an additional $150 touch up, it didn't last 4 months. My last eyebrow tattoo lasted 7 years before I went to her. She never once mentioned her method only lasted possibly a year. Yes, it was a redo of my old tattoo which is what you do when you need an update. I wasn't in my home town in OC, California so I choose her thru a referral who's also didn't last. Also, in my expensive town of Newport Beach, I pay $250.00. And, no, the places I go to do not charge MORE because you have had them previously done....her statement below. She was very expensive so I thought she would do the best job. Of course, she's going to go over my old tattoe, and of course she's going to put down the old work promoting her work as far superior and of course "her method' was the best...not. So even kindly writing her and sending a picture, did she stand behind her service...nope. She blamed my skin and old work. She didn't even offer for me to even come back in and 'll redo your eyebrows since they only lasted a year 4 months. I'm sure I signed everything without reading it but she never told me it was not permanent until I read her disclaimer she sent as a response to my email. And the blue tone she brags about coming back ....is back. This was her response below. Really, she sends me her "disclaimer" as part of her response. First we did your eyebrows on July 27. It was a powder brow cover up session; the goal was to go over old work that had a lot of blue tones to it and misshaped. Old work was an actual tattoo and poorly done. The initial session was to neutralize old ink and less permanent makeup ink to lift the dark tone first and lighten it so it didn't look so harsh on you and wanted to give you a nice soft powder look with better shape and look. But due to old ink we had to wait for you to heal and had to go over it again on a 2nd session. 2nd session was done Sept. 6th. In most cases it would have been a perfecting session if there wasn't any old work coverup. We wanted to see how the neutralizer took if it worked and lightened it. Which it did! So we officially put in more permanent makeup ink that time around and less neutralizer. This is a rare case and everyone retains ink differently. Because we did a neutralization first session and brow cover up second. The ink probably wasn't enough to get the desired density you want or used to seeing. Disclaimer: Technique nowadays is designed to be semi permanent. Brows with no cover up last between 1 year to 2 years depending on aftercare, lifestyle, and skin. If always under the sun or active lifestyle that also plays a role in retention and could be less. Cover ups are tricky because we have to go over old work. Some cases our ink isn't strong enough to mask old ink that has blue tones. There is only so much I can do to help in that aspect and there are no guarantees on how long our ink will stay on one's skin. I have clients I see 1x a year or some every two years so it all depends on the client. My price isn't bundled for this reason that some may not need a second session or some will. All artists are structured differently with their prices. I'm sorry you are disappointed. I didn't charge any extra for old work cover up as most places would. I did work hard on your brows twice and this is a rare situation with your brows fading so quickly. I wish you would have come to me sooner after you healed and I would have done a top up session for free, But It's been almost 5 months since I saw you. :( I can offer a discount if you want us to freshen your brows again. BUT If you are looking for something more permanent than that wouldn't be me, unfortunately. read more

She took her time and was made sure every detail was perfect and that I was happy with the result. The procedure was a little painful, but overall not bad. Kristela used a topical numbing cream so only really sensitive spots hurt and she checked in regularly to make sure I was doing ok. She warned me that my brows might be a little dark at first but would fade to a more natural color after a few days. She also gave me instructions on how to care for my new brows so that they healed quickly and painlessly. I'm so happy with the result--they look completely natural but so much more even and filled in than they did before. Kristela is fantastic! I have super blond and thin eyebrows. So when I don't draw them in people ask if I'm sick. Lol. I had been on the lookout for someone here in the south bay who did micro-blading. Finally came across Kristela through and old coworker. She knows what she's doing! Very clear and complete pre and post appointment instructions. She took the time to talk about what I wanted(color,shape,fullness,etc). She checked in many many times throughout the appt to make sure I was comfortable and that my brows were to my liking. This was my first session.
