Simply Polished is now Hannah's. Hannah was a technician at Simply Polished. There appears to be five workstations with two technicians working. The three other workstations have various items on them. Instruments, color samples, etc. The lamp on the work station was dirty. The technician must be very inexperienced and slow rather than just careful. I wanted a gel manicure, and the technician began putting acrylic on my nails. I am put off by the two technicians speaking in Vietnamese between themselves. The whole procedure was ass backwards. My nails were not soaked in warm water prior to service. The technician moved the curing light between each coat. Hannah's may be a work in progress. Not as charming as Simply Polished. read more

I was lucky to get a last minute appointment for me and my daughter, on a Saturday afternoon! We both wanted gel manicures, and they charge $35 per person. I had slammed my finger in the car door and wanted a dark color to cover the bruise. They recommended a shimmery color, which hides the bruise perfectly. My nails look amazing! My daughter and I walked by this place often. We decided to book on Yelp and took my husband along with us to get a manicure and pedicure spa treatment. It was an early Christmas treatment for my husband. The pedicure was so relaxing that my husband fell asleep on their massage chair. We had such a wonderful experience that he decided that we should do this every month. We are down to earth people and the staff were excellent. I my friends and I made a reservation at the end of May. Great experience, got gel pedicures, loved the massage and attention to detail. We actually appreciate starting the morning with 90s rock; gave us all some nostalgia. We were able to sit next to each other and talk. I forgot to take a photo but wanted to share how impressed I was that the gel pedicure LASTED OVER 4 weeks then started chipping! Terrible business practices. I went there today for a pedicure ($50) and after my service I went to pay and I had a $25 gift certificate to the business that was purchased for my birthday. I handed it to the owner along with my debit card to pay the remaining balance and she informed me that she does not accept gift certificates. The gift certificate is for her business! She said that the old owner left two months ago and she (current owner) does not accept the gift certificates, even though it's the same business. I was stuck paying my balance in full as she continued to refuse my gift certificate. I will be contacting the BBB and/or the City of Monterey to get this resolved. read more

3-4 minutes massage for both legs for a $48 pedicure is extremely disappointing. The polish is messy, definitely needed another coat. Like where is the quality check? How do you finish a pedicure and manicure that looks terrible and say "yup, I'm going to send my client out like this!" Take pride in your work... Sloppy gel manicure. Very transparent and messy. I had made an appointment through Yelp and was pretty happy with the prices. I even phoned them to find out if I could bring my daughter. So we both get there at my time and there were not two people available, there is one. I needed to wait an additional 15 minutes before I could be seen. When I sat down after being a little frustrated that they were running so late, I asked whether the tech did nail art and she said no. I don't know too many techs that don't do nail art but I said no thank you, I wasn't about to spend $50 on a fill when I don't get anything I like on them. It might not be a bad idea to say which text can or cannot do nail art in advance of making the appointment. read more

So, I don't get it. Went online and made an appt at Simply Polished. Showed up on time. When I walked thru the door, there were 2 employees and 1 customer having a rather loud gossipy conversation. When I walked in, everything suddenly got quiet. The 1 employee near the back disappeared in to the back. And then... nothing. Zip. Nada. No greeting, no "do you have an appointment?", no acknowledgement of my presence. The customer & employee doing the pedicure continued a quieter conversation. I never again saw the employee who had disappeared in to the back. After 10 minutes of being completely ignored, I gave up and walked out, never to return. I don't get it... if they don't want my business, then why are they making appointments? A complete waste of time & effort on my part, and a lot of unnecessary rudeness on their part! read more

I want to preface this review by saying that the actual salon and my usual experiences here are amazing. That said, this particular trip SUCKED. I went in yesterday for an appointment to get a Gel manicure. Everything was fine (nothing special but fine) until she started putting paint on my nails. I noticed that the UV light was flickering and mostly off. I let my manicurist know, and she said that it was fine. After my nails had "cured", she we t to check and make sure they were dry, and she commented to me "oh they're still sticky" but instead of fixing the bumps and smudges that were made on my nails, she added a topcoat and called it fine. At this salon, there are separate built in UV lamps for each hand, and the one on the left was the one not working. My left hand's nails are bumpy and chipped after just one day, while my right hand looks just fine. I can only assume it's because the UV light wasn't working. The salon is great, but if a client comments that something isn't working, and you acknowledge that the nails aren't dry, it wasn't a good experience to leave with nails that were already smudged and messy. read more

I hate the job they did on my nails. Honestly, my mother has done nails for 25 years, so I fully know the process, and I've never seen a more atrocious job done. My acrylics look like isosceles triangles, they are all uneven and not colored correctly. The lady, I don't even know her name, rushed my nails and I didn't say anything because I wanted to see if she'd do better by the end. My nails look like s**t. The acrylic is wavy and uneven and the nails are not even centered. I will never come back to this place. There was an old lady sitting next to me who started her appointment before me, she had an amazing job done on her nails, but my nail "technician" rushed my appointment and even skipped a few steps. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this place of business and I am still on the hunt for a good nail salon. I have been there twice for an acrylic fill and a pedicure. I always give something three good try's before making an opinion. This place got two negative experience so I'm not giving it a third. The same girl did my fill both times and it was far from anything I would recommend to a friend. I don't remember her name but she is the sister of the owner. DING #1 - Let's begin with her lack of professionalism by calling me nicknames when I gave her my name. She called me "hun" "Sweetheart" and "Sweetie" throughout the entire service both times. Talk about nausea I felt like a pregnant woman in my first trimester with morning sickness. SUGGESTION #1 - This woman needs to be trained in basic customer service skills and the proper way to address clients. By their first name not cutesy terms of endearment. DING #2 - She belittled her coworker who was an elder. The older woman who did my pedicure was needing assistance at the computer and this girl was talking down to her for needing help. "You need to learn how to do it on your own. Someone can't always be here to do it for you." I felt embarrassed for the both of them. I don't care how long the older woman has been needing help you don't speak that way to a fellow co-worker and let alone in front of clients. SUGGESTION #2 - People learn with patience and kindness not arrogance and her lacking of humility was very apparent. Learn how to treat your peers. You are no better than the woman working next to you. DING #3 - She burned my nails when using the drill to file the acrylic down. SUGGESTION #3 - Let's get trained in how to use a drill properly DING #4 - She didn't take any time to shape the nails after applying the acrylic. It was wham! Bam thank you ma'am you're done! The general shape of the nail was pretty bad and they were lumpy because she didn't really take very much time to smooth them out. I ended up paying someone else the next day to fix my nails because I couldn't stand looking at them. SUGGESTION#4 - The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more. I do give the overall aesthetics and cleanliness of this place a thumbs up, The pedicure I received from the older woman was good and the polish job was clean but customer service and workmanship from this particular service provider is definitely a thumbs down and has turned me off to ever returning again. read more

Super disappointed, because when you walk in, the place is neat and the employees are nice. Not 3 days after getting a gel manicure and a pedicure, my big toes were chipped and gel started peeling and chipping back. I get my nails done rather frequently so gel usually lasts 2 weeks for me and a pedicure about a month, since I'm not rough with my hands and feet. 3 days is not acceptable, for $65 (whereas the other two places I frequent in town are $55 for the same service). Needless to say, without a redo, I will not be coming back. EDIT: DJ from Simply Polished reached out and was able to fix the gel manicure and pedicure polish. It has been 6 days and so far so good! It may have just been a one-time issue or a new employee. I am now satisfied because they reached out in genuine concern, took ownership and fixed the problem. read more

Was originally told the price of a gel manicure was $32, got charged $40. after i asked why she told me the other staff member didn't know about prices going up. I paid because i didn't want to make a scene. I called back and she reimbursed me for the $8 price difference and offered to fix my nails but i didn't have time to go all the way back to the salon. Which is good, but I still don't think these nails were worth $32, I could've done a better job at home. My cuticles are all messed up still, the polish isn't neat at all (the top coat is all over my cuticles), there's bumps and ridges in my polish. Huge shoutout to the ladies at Simply Polished. I got married 8/8 at The Barns, and made appointments for my sisters, my mom, and myself to get manicures on Saturday morning. They had one employee not show up, and several regulars/appointments rolling in, but didn't lose face and got us all done. They did an amazing job and were friendly and hospitable throughout. (The woman who did my mom's seemed very distracted about the missing employee, and applied the wrong color but my mom didn't mind and went with it.) I have been seeing Mo at Simply for about 3 months I am loving the dip-nails. They last about 3 weeks at least. They never chip. Appointment is easy to make right on yelp site. I was in desperate need for a mani/pedi and my usual place was closed for vacation. I liked the fact that I could make an online reservation. It was a super cute salon. Seemed like a lot of regulars in there. My pedicure girl was very thorough and quick. I was very pleased. My nails not as much. The edges weren't very smooth but nothing I couldn't fix at home so I wasn't upset. There was a chip by day 2, but that would happen for a variety of reasons. Not blaming the salon by any means.
