It isn't always easy to get good customer service these days, but Drew and Lucy deserve high praise for their stellar attention and responsiveness.

I've walked in three times in the hopes that I caught them on a bad day, but on each occasion, all staff members are on the phone and might as well be talking to people calling the online service number. I got a different sofa from elsewhere, but this place was on my top 5 after looking at about 30 stores.

The craftsmanship is terrible (see pictures) as the doors don't even align with the frame (note, 2 cabinets were over $1,500, you wouldn't think they looked like someone made them without tools). We instantly told them about the issue and their response was basically "sorry, you ordered them". These were not custom but simply a standard order for merchandise from their vendor yet they refuse to stand behind their product or recommendation and accept a return. Wasted lots of time and money dealing with this awful situation. Disreputable business.

It's a nice shop with some lovely items. What drew me in was seeing some nice photo frames when I peeked in the windows; they had some nice ones but not quite what I was looking for. They had 15% off Christmas stuff when I was in but I didn't see anything I needed (and other similar shops I'd visited in Uptown, Andersonville, Wilmette, and even down the street in Winnetka had 40-60% off Christmas items, so it was easy to pass). Staff were friendly and I was greeted by both employees within moments of entering, both happy to help me find anything if needed. If you're looking for a gift, decorating a home, or need advice on either, Madarine Home would not be a bad place to shop. There's a step in order to enter the store, so you may want to call and find out if they have an accessible entrance if you can't manage the step. There's parking all around this shopping district that is free.

We trust their judgement, and trust that they would find the best solution for us, and they did. They listened actively to what we like or want. Because they used to own a chain of furniture stores, they have a network of suppliers that they can tap into. They have good tastes, but more importantly, they are very hands on.
