There's a Kroger Superstore at Barnett Shoals and College Station Road, replacing the old Kroger I rated years ago. The newer store is very large & very clean, and has spacious aisles, large departments, more fresh meats and fish, sushi. It has clothing department and a household goods department -more like a junior target store than the old Kroger plain grocery store. This store also has a gas station, and a large parking lot with some shady spaces. When we were there at the evening rush hour, there were enough friendly staff at checkout so there was not a long line. The food variety is larger and there are more brands now. read more

Customer service is terrible at this Kroger! This Kroger opened at 6am. I shopped for 30 mins. When I went to check out, there were no full service and only 1 self service check out line open. That one self service line malfunctioned. No employees were anywhere near the now 10 customer deep line that had formed. Employees were standing around talking as far away from the customers as possible. When I found an employee to help, she sent someone over but that person could not get any registers to work. As I left in frustration, no employers apologized for the inconvience. Their exact words were "we just opened at 6 am"! read more

The express checkout counters made in 1989 aren't cutting it anymore. Also the physical appearance of the store, ie cleanliness, utilities, and store isles, are just below average. Also to note, certain bank cards are either not accepted by Kroger or aren't recognized by the aforementioned 1989 checkout system. Just go to the new (at least in comparative appearance and functional utility)Publix down the road and save time and money. read more

Trail Creek Village Kroger in Athens, Georgia: I was confronted by a "Pet Nutritionist" while shopping for cat food today. She begins by telling me that she's in the store as a "courtesy" to help customers make wise choices and answer questions. I told her that my cat has kidney disease and that I already know what she can and can't eat. She suggested that I buy Blue Buffalo cat food. I told her that she might be interested in a documentary about the pet food industry called "Pet Fooled" and that I knew Blue Buffalo to be an unethical company and that their food is harmful for cats and dogs. She went on to sing all of the praises of the company, telling me that they treat their workers well and they contribute to cancer causes (of some sort?). I said making charitable contributions is common PR practice for any company; it doesn't constitute being honorable. She persisted in speaking on behalf of the company, to such a degree that I finally asked her, "Do you work for Blue Buffalo?" She answered "YES." I find it highly deceptive and manipulative that Blue Buffalo and Kroger would "plant" this company whore on site wearing a generic and nondescriptive costume, posing as a neutral Pet Nutritionist. read more

I did a store delivery and my food was never delivered. I called to get a refund spoke to 2 mangers haven and Kristen very rude and unprofessional. That told me a driver came to my address and no one answered even after I asked if they would like to see my 2 camera footage that no One came. Said it would take 30 days for me to get my funds back and acted like they did not care. I will never shop at another Kroger ever in my life. read more

Update: always ask about the seafood before you buy it. I recently asked a bunch of questions to a seafood worker there and found out their crawfish comes from China, terrible quality. They also don't feed the lobsters in the tank so they end up starving to death or eating each other. Kind of a turn-off now... read more

I found a new cereal, no tag to tell the price, I found a lot of deep discount Christmas ribbon awesome, had trouble with the digital coupon for the maxwell house kcups, but the cashier made it right. Parking lot very clean and well lit. Employees at night are friendly and helpful. read more

I've given this Kroger location many chances but after my last visit I won't go to this one anymore. The store isn't clean, the produce is never fresh, and the meats are disgusting. I've bought fruit multiple times where's it's gone bad in about 3 days. Recently I bought chicken and when it was cooked, I discovered it had already gone bad after it was just purchased. I'm not wasting anymore money at this store. You go to Kroger to get better quality food but end up with food worse than Walmarts quality. read more

I love my eastside Kroger. I've been shopping there for 30 years. I appreciate that they are union, and that they hire wonderful staff, including some who have special needs. One bagger, Michael, has the most brilliant gift - he can find my car no matter where i've parked it. When you're a poor college student, you often have to bargain hunt and that's why I prefer Kroger. I usually make a stop by this East Side Kroger once a week and hunt for Manager Specials. It's kinda like finding an Easter Egg! I mean 50 cents for a loaf of bread, what a deal! Also, its nice that their open 24 hours a day. Perfect for that late night run to grab a DiGiorno and gallon of moo juice. The store is a bit old and run down, and the staff can be hit or miss. I usually try to be as friendly as humanly possible and it seems to pay off. That's just a good rule of life anyways. read more

Drove 2 hours to shop at this store and others in the area. What I was looking for was sitting on a pallet right in the middle of the isle and the manager refused to let me shop through it even after I told him how far I had come. The grocery pick up service is extremely bad. I went to make a pickup today. It's Sunday and my order was scheduled for noon. When I got there I checked in as requested and about 10 minutes later a clerk came out with the grocery items in tow to tell me he couldn't give me the order until 12:30 because I had a bottle of cooking wine on my order list. ??? Why bring the order out to tell me he couldn't give it to me? Extremely bad service. Produce items were marginal at best. The few times I have used the service there's always everyday items out of stock such as butter with no substitute available. Really? In that whole store that carries a number of brands of butter nothing was available? The nickname for this Kroger in the neighborhood is "third world Kroger" . They won't be getting anymore business from me. Tax records indicate the Kroger Corp. owns the shopping center. Only three shops open in the center. The property is run down and not kept up at all. The store is dirty and not well stocked. The manager was replaced last year and the new management I have seen working rather hard to try and improve things. There is clearly no support from the corporate office. I have written the corporate office and a general generic email response about taking up issues with the local manager is their preferred way to respond. I bet the CEO of this company makes a nice salary. To bad the company treats its employees so bad. I'm done with Kroger. They deserve to go out of business. They don't give a dam about customers or employees. read more

Kroger raised their prices on all prescriptions. Walmart on Epps Bridge and Lexington has the lowest prices in the area. Kroger says they do price matching. Around 9 PM, I tried to pickup my prescription and do a price match with Walmart, but the pharmacist tells me I have to be there when the Walmart pharmacy is open (so they can call them) to get a price match. There's a website online that tells you all the prices of prescriptions in your area. Kroger said that was not enough proof for them. The only choice they would give me is to pay full price or come back later when they can call, that is TERRIBLE customer service.Their pricing should just be the same as Walmart. I'm not going to wait for them to call Walmart to do a price match every time I pickup my meds. I'll take my business at Walmart. Kroger used to have the same prices as Walmart but raised them all a few months ago. read more

NO STAR for the huge cockroach in Kroger prewashed salad! I used to regularly shop at Kroger. No problem for several years until recently it gave me the trauma.... On October 23rd, 2014, my friend bought some prewashed salads from this East side Kroger for our gathering. Unsuspicious of prewashed salads, I was enjoying the company of my friends. Until I found something like plastic bag in my mouth. I thought, ok, bad automated packaging must have left some plastic wrapping in the salad. Took it out of my mouth. It was a cockroach half a finger's length. I did not know what happened afterwards. My group of friends (more than 10 UGA grad students) saw me screaming and salad, salad plate, and fork were flying in the air. Because I suffered from temporary memory loss, they told me some weeks later that they were asking me what was going on and I could not answer them. They could not get an answer from me, then one of them found a cockroach in my salad on the carpet floor. I was hiding in the corner of the dining room trying to be furthest away from the dead pre-washed cockroach. I didn't know what happened, I literally black out. Looks like my friends cleaned up my salad and cockroach before I got back my consciousness. I am thankful for my wonderful friends and I will never do Kroger pre-washed salad again. Manager Meenish and Manager Leullen (if I spell your names rights), you are DOING A POOR JOB managing your Kroger. This Kroger is not only awful because of the pre-washed cockroach. This Kroger is also awful in maintaining a functional water filling machine. During this summer break, the water filter machine outside of the entrance was broken half of the time. read more

Have shopped here for almost 20 years. Over the last year the stock has dwindled so now I have to drive to another store to look for non- college student fuud The recent reorganization of the layout is horrible. It is such a habit to shop here, but there are times I want to just leave my half-filled cart a walk out. The only plus for this store is the pharmacy. I hope the plans to move to the old K-Mart space are more than rumors... Expect no humans working registers until after 9:00am. If you need help... Try Google. In my opinion, this is the best Kroger in the entire company. Granted, I may be a little biased because it was my "family" grocery store from the time I was eight years old until I left Athens at 23. Even when I lived across town, I would still drive to this Kroger to do my grocery shopping. I was so sad when I moved to Atlanta and discovered that not all Kroger stores were as nice as this one. I love this store. I have shopped here for many years. The staff has worked here forever so its like going home for spring break. It is dirty. The produce is often rotten. It's like there is a competition to give you as many plastic bags as possible, which is so irresponsible it makes me wanna spit.
