I've been shopping at this Kroger Store in Hamburg since it opened years ago. It's really gone downhill in recent years, especially after the recent expansion. I have seen customers with dogs in the store (these are clearly NOT service animals) the past THREE times I have gone to this store. The managers and staff know this is happening and don't seem to care that this is an obvious and disgusting health code violation. Shop elsewhere if you care about sanitary food conditions. read more

I've never been more disappointed, scared and upset in my life than I have today shopping at this Kroger. Everything was okay until me and my boyfriend were checking out in the self checkout and these 3 ladies were standing all around us watching us THE WHOLE time we were checking out. And not just standing a good distance away they were each a foot behind us or next to us, I used to work in that industry as well food and retail which i'm in now, and I would never do what they did to us today to any of my old or new customers, it's disgusting and rude. You know I see a lot of people leaving not so great reviews for this Kroger, but I think it's pretty great. Unlike most Krogers, the employees here are always available to help me locate an item when I can't find it. They did quit selling my favorite salsa but that is not something that the store or the employees can help. They always have a good fruit selection. The store is always clean. There is plenty of parking. The pharmacy is always quick with prescriptions. It's a nice location to go shopping. read more

I came here for my vaccine and, if I could separate out the pharmacy alone, I'd give them 5 stars. They were super kind when checking in, the pharmacists giving the shots were gentle and efficient, and everything was clean and I felt 100% safe. As for the store itself? It's a nice facility, to be sure. It's huge, great selection, etc. Seems newer in general, which is nice. After my first shot I took a few moments to pick up a few grocery items and I found everything with ease. The part where they lose the stars is that outside of the pharmacy area I felt pretty unsafe. I saw guests shopping without masks, groups of shoppers standing around talking with each other with their masks on their chins (taking your mask off to talk to someone defeats the purpose, FYI). I know it's hard for employees to enforce this, so I wouldn't hold it against them if it weren't for the fact that I saw a few employees doing the same thing. Masks under their noses, poorly fitting, etc. I was so turned off by the experience that when I went in for my second shot I left immediately and did my 15 minute wait in my car. It's a shame a few folks spoiled my experience because for the most part people were complying, but with cases spiking in MI and me being high risk, I just didn't feel comfortable. All it takes is one slip and I wasn't willing to risk it. Post-pandemic, I'd definitely consider shopping there again. But for now, I'm grateful for my vaccines and that's as far as I'll go. read more

The best word is gross for the bottle return area. Nothing to clean your hands after your finished. Floors sticky. Machines filthy and broken. One to in the store gives a damn when this issue was brought to there attention. This is very bad considering that they are building up to a larger store. I am sure that they will charge more for the increase of the new store that will be filthy. I will not be back in fear foul food and way over priced everything. read more

Mangers have been there too long. They have Zero customer service skills. They do not want to help you. They are collectively as unpleasant as they come. The like to play pass buck on problems that arise. None of the mangers show any signs of being delightful but they love too mean mug you as you shop. Been my main grocery store for 14rs. Some of the same mangers their since then. They act like they hate their job and reflects in how your treated there. :Correction 1 veteran manger is pretty helpful, I don't know her name, she's a very energetic small lady with glasses & has a great personality and will try to help. This is not my local store however, the convenience is worth the drive from Chelsea. By convenience, I mean ClickList shopping! You login, build your cart, clip your coupons, checkout and choose your pickup time. I arrived 20 mins late but didn't seem to be a problem. I pulled in and called the number. They asked if I had any coupons or bottle slips. Since I only use digital coupons, it was already in the system. The worker brought out my items, handed me the receipt and explained the one out of stock item. Great! I went through the list when I got home to check prices to what I was charged and make sure the coupons were applied. Only one item was wrong but a reasonable mistake w a deodorant stick. I will have to trek up there to exchange it but I will use this service again. First three Click list shops are free; $5 there after. Only downside is the price change. Online, a box of velveeta shells and cheese is $2.99. Add to cart the, View cart, and it's $3.49. It's pretty annoying and there is no number to call to ask why nor anything on the website to explain. If Kroger wants this system to work then they have to gain trust and that's not the way to do it. I did end up omitting items from final purchase due to the upcharge after adding to my online cart. The rest was nominal enough to continue the transaction. This surely cuts down the impulse buying and saves a lot of time. I'll log in and start a ClickList now, instead of starting a pen and paper list of things needed around the house during the week. People of Hamburg and Pinckney has a great service in their neighborhood. read more

If I could give them zero stars,I would. I have been shopping at this Kroger for years, and 5 years ago, I called their corporate headquarters and complimented their pharmacy on exceptional service. I have found some businesses use the pandemic as a convenient excuse for poor service, and this Kroger has certainly bowed to this easily available reason for the consistent unpleasant atmosphere at this store. The employees seem to hate their jobs and their customers, the store is always out of items, the lines at the registers are atrocious and the store is dirty. The pharmacy is out of control. It is now 3-4 days for a prescription to be ready, even though the automated message gives you a completely different pick up date or time, and after waiting In line for your prescription, you are told it won't be ready for another day. No apology. I am now shopping at Busch's for my groceries, where I am always greeted with a smile and cleanliness and plenty of cashiers who actually seem to enjoy their jobs! read more

Review of Pharmacy- Received a $50 coupon to transfer a prescription to Kroger. Requested the pharmacy to transfer my prescription. They told me to come back the next day it'll be ready. I came back two days later and they had no record of my transfer. What a waste of my time! The employees won- less work for them. They will never see my business again. read more

Slowest deli ever. No one jumps in to help the one person they have helping customers while the two are talking and working in back. Line up in deli. This is my local grocery store, so I shop here more than anywhere else. It's a clean store with friendly staff. The produce section is a bit small, but the has good fruits and vegetables. The organic produce section is small. The meat selection is sufficient with some great sales a few times a month. Using the pharmacy is great, was TJ a very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Prices seem higher than their competitors. Spending $100 there vs. a few other grocery stores seems results in noticeably less groceries in the cart at checkout. Lower prices and a wider selection would result in me giving a better review. By far the best supermarket in the area. read more

It is currently 2022, and Kroger still does not have a NFC pay service. Let that sink in. A corporation that large can not have technology available that roadside vendors even have. The excuse? Kroger pay, well, fun fact, they don't have that available either at this location. Do better. read more

Ok I am tired of this Kroger location going back and forth on following the pandemic regulations. Sometimes you see their staff wearing masks, other times not. I went in their once and none of their staff were wearing masks. I posted on their facebook site about this where they tried to act like I needed to be the one to police them and inform their manager that not one of their store employees was wearing a mask. As if the manager would be that incompetent to not know what's going on in their store. But a week later when I went back, all but one employee was wearing a mask. The major offenders I see however are the deli workers. I'm sorry, but they are working with lunch meat you normally don't cook, and already cooked and prepared foods. They would be taking the most care. But constantly not wearing masks. I went into the Howell Kroger's, and noticed this taking place too. The cart people also fail to wear masks and alot of the Kroger employees do not appear to follow social distancing protocols. Yes, I get it, distancing cannot always be followed. But I'm not talking about that, I'm referring to the ones just standing around together constantly just bs'ing about non-work related things. I'm not trying to make peoples lives at work miserable but when I see people not wearing masks, or not wearing them properly like only covering their mouth not their nose and standing around talking to people without a care in the world, that's a little disconcerting in a grocery store. A grocery store that sells food to our community. Some us of have medical conditions that put us at high risk. It's bad enough they refuse to and do absolutely nothing aside from a sign in the window about wearing masks. But when their own employees refuse to wear them, then theirs a issue. I will say this. I was shopping their pretty exclusively before the pandemic. But after I seen how they operate during it and lack of care to protect the public, I shop their much less. Their are some items I simply refuse to get from their right now. It's such a shame that this location does not care enough to keep us safe. read more

The following is a letter I have sent to the kroger Corp , this mornings shop has left me really angry , and this is why... They're lucky I didn't demand cashier wages too! The whole SCO experience tainted everything about my shopping at Kroger . I typically shop early Sunday mornings for the ease of getting thru the store, but once you reach the cashier line the whole experience comes to a halt. Until recently a cashier came in duty at 7am, so I timed my shopping accordingly. Now there isnt one until 9am. There are other people like me that doing their big shopping for the week at this time, & to use SCO for a big shop is downright inconvenient and frustrating. And the fact that your newly remodeled registers now don't have the top shelf, we are forced to PUT OUR FOOD ON THE NASTY FLOOR!!! I have been home from my Sunday morning shop for over an hour, and my anxiety is still peaked and I'm really angry at the disregard for ease of use and customer satisfaction. I suppose it's silly for me to expect that when a business opens its doors in the morning that there would be at least one person available to process my purchase. If you are going to "not" have a real human available to ring up my purchase at your store, forcing me to use your SCO ( btw, I DO NOT WISH TO CHECK MY OWN GROCERIES! )then the very least thing you can do is make the machine more user friendly, and give your customers a place to put their food, other than on the gross and nasty floor! I also know for a fact that your cashiers receive a discount just for being employees, I am playing the role of cashier, I want my employee discount. Some of your employees need an attitude adjustment. To the older woman who was working today, you need to remove your bitter attitude immediately before your anger the wrong person. Especially when no one was doing anything wrong, but just trying to stay out of the way.. I chose to stand in a completely empty area to read the back of a protein shake (since everyone else in the aisle was trying to run me over), when one of your rude sour-faced employees chased me out of the area. I've worked in customer service for 12-years. There is a way to be polite to people when you need them to move... again. I have shopped at this Kroger for several years, and I spend a lot of money here. This is one of the only stores I go to, but if you're going to hire people like this.. The store is clean and lovely, cashiers and staff are all super friendly. The deli is a mess though. Please implement the number system! I hate the trips that I have to go to the deli, I get skipped, it takes FOREEEEVER, and the staff always seems to have some random side conversation going on, so often I have to repeat myself multiple times, or, I end up with the wrong amount of sliced cheese/meats... This department needs some attention. read more

I used to love Kroger. But, between those stupid self scan guns and no cashiers, I have left frustrated every time. No instructions with the self scan guns, so when my gun accidentally scanned an item I didn't intend, when I attempted to delete it, it deleted my whole order. The next time, I had a smallish order (about 20 items) and when I got to the register, the cashier just looked at me, and then explained I was supposed to bag as I go. what!?! The last time I went, I walked in, saw there were no cashiers, and so I just walked out. I had a huge list and scanning a cart load myself takes forever and is frustrating. I'll just stick to grocery stores with humans. read more

Been a highly regarded Kroger card customer at Krogers for well over 50 years. Just spent approx. 333.00 for groceries, and it was my last visit. Poorly stocked, and checkout people that were rude and could care less about their customers. What is with the manager, bagman and cashier loud, talking non stop to each other and not paying attention to my bagged. crushed food, Why mention names here I would have fired these losers for their poor customer performance. You won't do anything about it I'm sure, These sub standard persons who go unchecked are either poorly trained or total last chance people that don't care. read more

This is one of the worst supermarkets I've ever seen. It's always poorly-stocked, out of sale items and the produce looks like the stuff I throw away at home. The SCOs are a pain and the employee on duty never wants to be bothered to help. Go up and down the aisles and you'll see empty spots all over the shelves. Go back a few days later, and the same spots are still empty. The pharmacy is the best department in this store, and the deli is the hands-down winner for the worst. Deli employees are slow, crabby and always fighting with customers. Although they guarantee that they will have an 8-piece fried or baked chicken when you order it, or else it's free, good luck trying to get it free without calling the store manager over. True, when the manager shows up, you'll get it free, but it isn't worth the hassle. Deli food is also not kept at proper temps, and the last time I was there I got food poisoning. The closest competitor, Busch's, is more expensive but worth the difference. read more

I purchased some zucchini noodles and when I got them home and opened them, I found them foul smelling and mushy. Unable to use them, I decided to take them back. I didn't save the receipt and when I returned them, I told the woman at the customer service counter that I didn't have the receipt but I did have my Kroger card that I used when they were purchased. She informed me that she would refund the cost today but in the future they would not do so. I asked why if I had used their card, could they not track the purchase to verify that I had bought them. She informed me that the card only worked one way. They didn't have records of the transactions in the store and only used the card for fuel points and to send me information. What a surprise for me and good information for those that want to be tracked. I'm sure that they are selling the information that they receive to others who will use it for who know what. I wonder if Kroger is part of or in partnership with Facebook. How much do they know about you and are willing to sell to the highest bidder. read more
