Maybe I entered just after a rush or something, but the staff did seem a bit scatter brained with various alerts from machines in the store sounding an alarm.

I mostly use this Speedway out of habit. In mid 1970s, this was a Marathon station owned by Charlie Kemp who was a friend of my parents. If I needed gas or car repairs, I could get a fair shake here. Fast forward 40 years. This Speedway is usually fairly busy all the time during the day but it is rare to have to wait for a pump to open up unless there happens to be a UTS driver convention going on. The will all park their vans at the pumps and disappear into the store for 15 or 20 minutes. The counter help is consistently friendly and helpful and cash register lines seem to move quickly. The store is acceptably clean and inviting. The updated pumps are great but the Credit Card system has been down the last couple of times that I have been there. They need to relocate the car vacuum and air dispenser. When they are in use and someone is getting gas at the adjacent pumps, they block that side of the driveway. Also, when cars are parked at the front of the store, it can be a tight squeeze trying to get through there, especially if one of the people who attempted to park did a bad job of it.

The pumps are frequently not in working order, and today I had the person who is running the register come out and tell me that I had to come in to pay after my credit card was already charged. He made a mistake and tried to put money for a different customer on that pump, so he cut off the pump, then ran out and told me that I had to come in to pay. It was irritating enough that I had to explain the technology to him, but I really don't appreciate being asked to "take it down to a two" when I was trying to get him to listen to me that my card was already charged. He finally looked it up, and I was correct, but the whole situation was very frustrating.

Thornton's always has great deals on fountain drinks and other snacks. Their frequency card not only saves you money on gas but also rewards you with free stuff like drinks and food. The lady working the counter the night I was there was super nice and friendly. Sometimes that's a rarity at gas station convenience stores. One of the nicer Thornton's in the area for sure.
