We almost never order dessert, but decided to cheat on the diet wagon and get the fried apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream... and honestly, zero regrets. Friday Feb 27th, 2026, 8'ish PM. Food was pretty good, about the same as always, but about the time our food was due a young man with a hound dog came in and hung out in the waiting area about 3 tables from our table. The hostess and 2-3 waitresses went over and spent about 20 minutes petting the dog and visiting with this young man. I think he was there to see his girlfriend, who I believe was the hostess. When he left with the dog, I didn't see any of the employees wash their hands. All of the employees were very young girls. Maybe this is okay with other people, but it's not okay with me. I have a huge problem with this, and unless it is addressed here, I won't be back. New ownership has clearly taken their eye off of customer service. The previous owner would have flipped her lid if something like that happened. I don't know who this kid is, and I don't know why his female friend thought it was okay for a dog to be hanging out in the waiting area, but it isn't okay. They need to tighten up the ship if they want me to be back. I've been coming here almost every Friday for almost 20 years, back to when they were in the old location. Unless I get a response from ownership here that this has been addressed, I won't be back. Before you start, it wasn't a service dog. It was a hound that he was holding in his arms. My family and I have been loyal regulars here for many years, so it truly saddens me to write this. At 6:00 p.m. today, we waited patiently for 10 minutes, but when we finally reached the front, the waitress--a short, young girl in her early 20s--didn't even ask who was first and immediately seated a couple who had just arrived. I don't mean to sound dramatic, but I feel really sad that our long-term support was ignored so easily. I won't be returning any time soon unless management recognizes this fault and offers a sincere apology. read more

We've been going to KT's since they were at their old spot. They have a very good, small salad bar, in my opinion, that also has soup with it. The hot rolls with the cinnamon butter are always great; we order a couple of dozen to serve at the holidays. The service is always great. When you walk in, they greet you with a welcoming smile and a friendly hello, and it carries through until you leave. The food is always good, hot, and fresh. Prices are reasonable, and portions are a good size. This is a very good place to eat. read more

Heard good things about this place. It's in my town so had to eventually check it out. Had the rib dinner with a salad bar and baked potato. Salad bar was small but had the basics including chopped egg which is always a great topping. Had a side of beans that were tasty. Brought out a roll with honey butter which was probably the highlight of the meal. The ribs were tinder and had plenty of meat. I preferred the hot barbecue sauce over the regular. Staff very nice. We live close by and this has always been a go to place for a good meal. They recently started serving breakfast on Saturday mornings so we decided to give it a try. Eggs and hash browns were pretty good. My wife ordered pancakes. When the server brought the pancakes she asked if she wanted syrup? I didn't know you could eat pancakes without syrup. Anyway she brought the syrup later and it was cold, barely able to get any out of the bottle. My wife the trooper she is started eating her pancakes with cold syrup and she said they tasted funny. I took a bite and told her it tasted like sugar free syrup. Anyway this is usually a good place to eat and I hope they figure out what people really want for breakfast. read more

Great barbecue! Brisket and pulled pork are stellar. Sometimes they have smoked turkey, which is wonderful. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. Pro tip, they have gumbo and a crawfish etouffee sometimes in their freezer that are awesome! read more

We passed this place on our way to a volleyball match and decided to give it a try on the way back. Glad we did. The staff was friendly and our server was awesome! The pork fries were delicious with tender pulled pork and cheese. The rib dinner was a little dry and tough but had some good flavor. Also tried the hamburger steak which was smothered in grilled onions, mushrooms, and brown gravy. Good choice! They give you dinner rolls and have a small salad bar you can have as a side. Okay-Okay!!!! I read the reviews before I went because my pops was determined to give me a catfish experience. The reviews were sad and so I entered with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. The dinner rolls came promptly and were a delicious treat. They tasted freshly baked and came with a cinnamon butter that was yummy. The salad bar was good and included soup. One trip is $5.99. Thats a bargain~ even if there were no onions, as one disappointed review mentioned. The variety was good and it all tasted great. The lettuce was crisp, the pickled okra and beets were satisfying, the cole slaw on the salad bar was creamy, pasta salad was tangy and light. There was ham, cheese, bacon, croutons, olives and many salad dressing to pick. Next- the meals. The food came promptly and was hot hot hot. I wan't quick enough to snap a picture of dad's food. He was already trying to catch his fall off the bone rib meat. The bbq drip and grease on his cheek says he approved. I had the two large fillet catfish w/ one side and salad bar that was $10.99. It was cornmeal batter, crispy and tender at the same time. The tarter was good too. I lived all the dill. Momma had the chopped beef sammy with fried potatoes. The catfish here is super delicious! My meal ($12.99) came with two gigantic meaty catfish filets which were cooked perfectly, a generous helping of particularly good fried okra, probably the best tartar sauce ever, a trip to the salad bar, and endless dinner rolls accompanied with a cinnamon butter. The batter is delicate and exhibits the quality and flavor of the catfish really well while keeping the fish juicy. We also tried a piece of homemade coconut pie and give it two thumbs up. If there's a better value, I'd love to know about it--it's worth going out of the way for. Great service too! The place was packed out on a Friday night and the food came out fast. read more

We go here almost every Saturday because I know the food quality is the same every time and the free endless rolls are bomb. The rolls are huge fluffy buttery bits of heaven. Way better than Texas Roadhouse no contest. The dishes are SO CHEAP even for dinner. It's around $7-11 for a meal with a meat and TWO sides. And they are very generous on portions. They offer you the option to get a side and salad bar or just two sides and either way is plenty of food. The salad bar is pretty good; they always have pasta salad and a daily fresh soup included. I usually get two orders of fries, though, because their fries are perfection. I never have leftovers only because it's so good. I normally get the grilled shrimp and it's bomb. Soooooo good. I've had a couple of their different soup flavors and I have liked all of them. The only thing I would have a complaint about is the service isn't always great. It's usually good, but I don't think I've ever had the same server twice, so idk what that says about having so much turnover. But, there's never a wait for lunch and the inside is pretty spacious. They have decent ribs and chopped bbq beef and they are little cheaper than most other bbq places. The mashed potatoes and gravy are just the average instant potatoes and gravy from a packaged mix. The bbq baked beans were too tangy for me. The fried okra was crisp and delicious but the cole slaw could have used more dressing in it; it was kind of plain. The bacon cheeseburger was ok, a little on the dry side but at least it was cooked thoroughly. I thought they served breakfast food any time but when I ordered biscuits and gravy they said they didn't have any breakfast food. The smoked sausage tasted like it was just cooked in water and not smoked so I will probably just buy a couple pounds of the chopped bbq beef the next time and try to get there early enough so I can get some fried pies! If you order to go, expect to wait 10-15 minutes once you get there. I don't know what takes so long, especially when you show up 5 0r 10 minutes after they said it would be ready, but there is always a wait to get your food. read more

I'm from Newcastle and had driven by several times with anticipation to try this smokehouse. I ordered TO-GO a pulled pork sandwich w/ beans, KT's club w/ fries, and a kids chicken strip with fries+cheese. The bbq sandwich and beans were acceptable-- a little pepper heavy, but good texture and good extra bbq sauce. The club sandwich had crispy bacon and plenty of meat, but the bread was soggy. The chicken strips are NOT homemade (bought frozen then fried). THE FRENCH FRIES WERE PATHETIC -- soggy, limp, and the cheese added for an up charge didn't cover any single fry. Aside from the food, the cashier clerk was not fit for the task of assisting customers (may be new?). Perhaps I ordered the wrong items; and perhaps the food is meant to be eaten immediately as it is unable to hold up through a 10 min car ride. I would not suggest this restaurant to my family or friends for quality food. read more

I can speak only to what I have tried. That being said, the ribs are pretty good, but a little tough sometimes. The fried okra is good, but anything fried is generally delicious. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a mixed bag. The potatoes weren't great, but the gravy was pretty good. The green beans were good as well. Now for the negatives... The sliced brisket, when I tried it, was essentially a broiled round roast that had little flavor. It was like they took it out of the freezer and tossed it in the oven with no prep at all. I have ordered the pork sandwich a couple of times, the second time because I forgot my first experience, and found it lacking. I had expected something along the lines of pulled pork, since they mentioned that it was slow-cooked on the menu, but it was little pieces of pork seared in a pan and covered with bbq sauce. No no no. I have given this restaurant three tries. At this point I refuse to give it another chance. The service and restaurant itself, is fine. But the food is horrible. I ordered a hot link with fries, since I was at a loss of what else to try. It was terrible. It was bland, and tasted like the cheapest link you can find in the frozen aisle at Walmart. My in laws came with me as well, they where also unimpressed. My husband ordered a steak, and he couldn't finish it. The only good thing was a the halfway decent salad bar. They also had soup, I couldn't bring myself to finish that either. I always hear raving reviews, but I jus can't figure out why. I won't be coming back and I suggest that others don't even try. First salad bar I ever saw that didn't have onions, other than that it's just like Mazzio's salad bar. I had the bbq beef dinner which is chopped up roast with bbq sauce on it, it wasn't very good and came out luke warm. The restaurant is clean and the service is good. I went in to place a to-go order. I waited while three other groups (who came in behind me) were seated. When someone finally asked if I was with one of them, I said no and told her I needed to place a to-go order. She left and started serving other tables without a word. I stood there at least 10 minutes with no one helping me or even saying another word to me before finally giving up and walking out. The ribs were great, falling off the bone. Coleslaw fantastic. Okra was good and crispy just the way I like it. Catfish and polish sausage were very good too. What made this meal enjoyable though was the atmosphere and our server. It looked like everyone there knew each other and were happy to see one another.
