Kubo is such a cute little gem, especially if you love ube as much as I do. It's rare to find spots that offer ube flavors which is what initially caught my attention, and Kubo does it so well. The space itself is cozy and cute. While there isn't a ton of seating, I've never had an issue finding a spot to sit and enjoy dessert, which makes it a great place to slow down for a bit. We went to the one in bergen mall, which iw more of a cart so the ice-cream swirl isn't as fancy obviously. The ube ice-cream alone is AMAZING but i didn't understand the latte really. I've been to this cafe twice so far. I tend to stick with the simpler items because I'm vegan and gluten-free, so I avoid the marshmallows, cookies, certain syrups, and things like that. I have to say--their presentation is absolutely gorgeous. The first time I went with friends, I got a matcha latte with almond milk and it was delicious. My friends got these really fun creations and were so surprised by how much they loved them. One of the drinks even had a marshmallow on it, and one of my friends also got the ube soft serve. Another friend got a simple coffee, and we all loved our drinks so much. The presentation really stood out. We came back this past Saturday. I was thinking about getting the strawberry matcha latte--and now I wish I had, because I read the reviews and everyone says it's amazing--but I got another drink that was really tasty. My friends got the ube ice cream again, and another one of them got a different drink. We all loved our selections. This place is very tiny. I think they have about six tables that seat two to three people each. There's also a little couch you can sit on--it looks like a backyard swing, which is super cute. One of the most fun parts of this cafe is the photo booth. They have a free ring light photo booth where you can choose different styles and filters. My friends hate taking pictures, but every time I go, I take like ten of those little photos for myself. Also, the bathroom is clean--and I always like to mention that because it matters to me. This place is dangerously close to my home. I might be go there a lot!! It's a very cute small cafe located right by Sushi Ya. There is street parking in the front and the meter parking in the back. There's only 1 table and a few chairs, so this is more of a grab and go place. I ordered the ube ice cream with taiyaki. The ice cream was soo delicious and so was the taiyaki (the server said it was regular batter and mochi flour, so it had that chewy mochi texture). The taiyaki didn't have any fillings, it was just plain, which is fine. But really good flavor overall. It's pricey but it was a decent serving size. To my disappointment, they did not have earl gray soft serve either of the times I visited. Additionally, the prices are definitely higher because of the novelty, but I did not feel the money-for-value was there. My friend got a matcha soft serve, and the middle of the cup was totally empty/hollow despite costing $10! My tea was also more expensive than most boba spots in Jersey. The earl gray tea I got was good, but nothing special. The boba was okay, mildly sweet and chewy. The cafe itself is cute and clean. I've had Kubo Coffee and Creamery on my list of places to check out and I finally got around to it on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I took my kids with me and we indulged in some delicious sweets! When we walked in, the atmosphere was just so cute! There were lots of comfy spots and cute nooks to take pictures. My daughter ordered the S'mores ice cream. We were told they were out of chocolate ice cream, but that was fine by my daughter! She ordered it with the cookie monster cookie dough ice cream instead. My son had a cup of the soft serve Ube ice cream. I couldn't believe how much he liked it. All he could talk about that day was the "delicious purple ice cream from Kubo." They definitely give out healthy portions so make sure you come hungry! I was so torn on what to order. I wanted to try everything! The woman at the counter was so patient with my questions and suggested a few options. I finally settled on a Brown Sugar Ube Espresso with boba. Oh man, it was delightful! I've been wanting to check this spot for their ube ice soft serve for a while but we're never really in this area. One day, we were running errands in Clifton so we decided to check this place out after lunch. We got there at around 2:30 on a Sunday. There's not lot but there was street parking. We had the ube soft serve milk tea with boba and is was SO good. Hubby and I shared one but we kind of regretted not getting two and had to really stop ourselves from ordering another one. Next time, I'll have to get the matcha soft serve, and/or get the ube with espresso. I'd imagine that would be like an affogato. But I won't be sharing next time! read more

Any time I see ube on the menu, it's a must have. I was so glad to find this spot since there aren't many great boba spots where I am. Stopped by Kubo after hearing Steph's Macarons was going to have a pop up with some fun Hello Kitty theme macarons. Kubo has been saved for awhile and I'm glad I was actually able to go. As soon as we entered, we were welcomed in by the gentleman behind the counter. We had ordered the creme brûlée thai tea with boba and a Kubo cold brew and a ube tres leches cake cup. Loved seeing all the ube items. While we waited, we ordered some macarons. Our drinks were made fairly quickly and grabbed a table by the window. With an existing cult following, I learned about this place on @njdotcom's Instagram that acknowledged this Filipino shop as NJ's best ice cream. I've been eager to try it this winter, as a visitor in my home state. Friends and I stopped in for the first time on a Wednesday afternoon and there were already a handful of customers enjoying all the treats Kubo has to offer. After a long look at the menu, my friends and I decided on a strawberry matcha tea, ube espresso and mango float. We all picked at each other's order and got to try the INCREDIBLE flavors of each. I typically don't enjoy Ube-flavored food, but the ube here is rich and creamy. It was delicious. The mango float is premade in an individual jar and still tasted fresh as the graham cracker provided a crunchy texture. This dessert was super flavorful and light. We didn't get to try any pastries as most of them were out by the time we got there around 3pm! The space here is pretty small, but designed so well as every corner is utilized with decor or seating. It's a fun, natural, earthy feel inside. They also have a cool photo station where you can take photos and send them directly to yourselves. Overall, this dessert trip was a huge win - satisfying flavors, novelty experience, patient employees, and a great location in downtown Nutley.
